indeed shm is correct. the police are and always have been a law unto themselves. its less pronounced nowadays, but still there under the surface - insidious as ever
at this point id usually point out the stamford experiments and what not. but that would be restating a truism, vague, removed and unchangeable. when you experience oppression and/or discrimination or are a victim in some other means, close up - you become intimate with the ugly side. the side that changes statements to implicate innocent football fans of defiling corpses simply to obfuscate their own failings which theyd likely have squirmed out repercussions thereof anyhow. the side in which a station sergeant, no less - feels it safe to - in front of cctv and multiple witnesses - brutally attack and break the nose of a defenceless, detained woman in a cell, who was drunk and perhaps shouting. she, whose taxes are PAID to those entrusted to keep you from coming to harm when overly-inebriated - are, by the very same guardians, viciously assaulted, on camera. that last bit is the important part, for it gives a glimpse of the mindset. a man who was doing what he was socially taught to do, what he sees everyday possibly, without a second thought.. yes, the very same ugly side where a psychotic individual supposedly under oath to serve and protect the public, caught on camera in the very act - is quietly set free from prison after six days
ive experienced it myself many times, where the local bobby with an IQ that would make forrest gump blush - become the arbiter of the law, judge and jury all wrapped up into one, with a sprinkling of god mixed in there. i see this when an acquaintance id grown up with, whose father was a nasty, bully of a man - bent as you get - but happened to be on the police force - his son, out speeding is flashed to pull over by a police car - he doesnt, what he does do is drive over ten miles back home with now three screaming police cars in pursuit, all the way back home, where fat frank the dodgy copper also happened to reside.. now for the uninitiated, if i were to do get caught, doing such a thing - i know from bitter experience, i would be dragged through the window (they tend to smash all the windows on approach to daze and confuse) and enjoy the pleasure of a knee pressing my face into tarmac while cuffs are applied so tight behind you any movement (of which there are plenty) is excruciating.. and then i would likely be looking at a stretch in prison, certainly withdrawal of my right to drive for a while. well, you can probably guess by now thats not quite how it went for frank's son.. frank made sure it was all smoothed over, and the three police cars, some five officers, after a pleasant chat, were on their way, with much waving and honking of horns, sans detainee. it happens all the time
ive mentioned this before, and a great many here no doubt draw a certain amount of amusement from it, but a few years ago i for the first time ever, felt need to dial 999 and ask police to be sent as i was in fear for my life, and in fear for my future liberty (i had in my hands, a genuine burmese short sword that could and probably had, quite easily killed in its time - and i told the police despatch woman it was going through the first person through my door)
after half an hour of nonstop kicking of the downstairs security door, which felt like an age, i again called 999, repeated my request for help, let the lady hear the repeated slamming of the door by six armed men, explained i was in fear of my life, asked if the police where on their way - and was assured they were, and would be arriving shortly
they never showed. after kicking through the much more substantial security door the six guys mustve baulked at another, my front door - even though that wouldve flown off its hinges on the first kick. thank god they finally fled, almost an hour after my first emergency call. the police never showed, not even the next day. daytime, busiest road in the town, not one but two major police stations within two miles of my abode - and for all they knew i couldve been lying there dead for my mom or a girlfriend to find. thats fine you may say, why should a criminal be protected. and youre entitled to think that, but im just trying to convey to you the kind of power, life or death - wielded and abused by the lowliest constable as they see fit. unchecked most of the time to operate as they see fit.
and now, with all the technological conveniences, crutches-to-life as it were - we have freely installed in our homes, daily lives and workplaces - a corrupt policeforce can and does wield almost unimaginable power over you and your rights. and youll see it in all its horror, the next time a national emergency occurs or marshall law is declared - it will become painfully evident just how far the eyes of the tyrannical do in fact stretch into the ostensibly mundane and domestic
and if when i say youre, you think 'im no criminal, im protected'... you would do well to remember the words of the german protestant preacher, who - for his outspokeness - spent the last seven years of nazi rule in a concentration camp;
--------
first they came for the socialists, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a socialist
then they came for the trade unionists, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a trade unionist.
then they came for the jews, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a jew
then they came for me - and there was no one left, to speak for me
