Bupe First Suboxone dose won't wear off

8mg of bupe likely raised your opiate tolerance considerably.

I actually disagree. It's been my experience that, coming off a heavy H habit, after taking suboxone for even a few days one should be careful with their dosage of the original drug as the tolerance has gone WAY down. My opinion obviously, but in the interest of HR, be very careful when using after being on Subs..

Funkee, thank you for that incredibly informative post.

I had no idea about arrestin before reading this. Now my situation makes a lot more sense.

This is the only part I didn't understand. If a person who takes bupe regularly has a lot of built up arrestin, won't it take longer to use them up and go into WD?

I think I'm pretty dependent, because I'd definitely get WD if I didn't get at LEAST 60mg of oxy a day (again, usually I was doing 200mg per day). Of course my pupils are usually tiny when I'm on opiates, but lately (since I took the bupe) my pupils have stayed fairly normally sized, only shrinking a little when I do oxy. You're suggesting that if the bupe were still affecting me, my pupils would be tiny?

I have to step back and say this is a really good point. Maybe this is a gift and not a problem. After all, that's why I took Suboxone when I could've just taken more oxy, right?

why do Subs and then figure out how long to wait to get a buzz off another opiate? If that isn't addiction talking I don't know what is. Do you take syrup of Ipecac to vomit so you can enjoy another great meal after just finishing a meal? That is the logic here, and for people who are not addicts or been addicts that behavior would be construed as such and people would say you need help. Either take opiates, blow your money, crap once a week, worry about next hookup, ruin relationships (eventually) or take Subs and detox and try to quit. At least be logical about it. I would say at this point, your thought process is so skewed you need to stop the Opies, get some clean time under your belt and then look back and review your thought process. Opiates are such a veiled drug, you think your control and feeling good and not a slobbering drunk. In reality your not a acting like a fall down drunk but Opiates slowly change your thought process so much that when you stop you finally realize it and say -what the fuck was I thinking.

They never said they weren't an addict. This site has a lot of them but people aren't judged here based on that since it's a harm reduction site which operates on the notion that a person is going to use drugs, but want info on how to do so more safely.

To answer your question though, some people use suboxone just to keep from withdrawing when they can't get their opiate of choice, and so they end up wanting to take the drug they like after the subs wear off and they got more of the drug they want.

Since this thread is really old and specific to the person who started it I'm closing it.
