Why do prolific posters 'disappear' when they become mods?

Fairy nuff! So why does it say 'Join Date 2012' on every post? It seems there are workings afoot that I have no ken, er of.. or summat..

(Edit: you've changed yer fuckin name aintcha?? That's cheatin that is )

What others said about getting burnt out. I don't mod nearly as much as I used to, and kinda felt bad if I was sitting on the site half the day but not modding :p its only recently I decided that even if I'mma be lazy I should at least be lazy somewhere I enjoy being like BL ;)

Never know he might just have lost the keys and asked for the account to be terminated. It's pretty clear which is more likely though.

My account is mk2 because I lost the keys to the first one.

Many people seem very trigger happy in their critcism of any and all mods and admin, past and present. I wonder if they ever ask themselves if they could really do a better job of it themselves, rather than just bleating about the 'shortcomings' of others. The mods cannot win whatever they do, they get criticised for being too inclusive and egalitarian one minute, the next they are critcised for being too authoritarian and trigger happy with infractions and what have you.

I would never want the job, (unlikely id ever be offered it anyway and subject everyone to that) due to the completely thankless nature of the role and complete lack of recognition and respect for all the efforts that people go to entirely volunatarily. And the fact that whatever you do there is allways gonna be someone to moan and complain and take the piss, and the fact that it is impossible to please everyone whatever you do and whoever you are, makes it a very difficult task to undertake and avoid getting dragged down into negativity. Im so glad that i did thank Knock and give him some recognition for all the dedication and effort he put in during his tenure, allthough i dont think i went far enough and it certainly didnt seem to help very much. :| The current crew rarely seem to be online at the same time, yet they allways make time for well balanced, thoughtfull and fair minded replies to PMs that they must get innundated with at times.

I wonder if morale is currently very low amongst the current EADD mods, gibberings has been a fucking nightmare at times over this last month or so, it hasnt been fun at all and im sure that type of thing has sent some people packing, and has been frankly unmoderatable. Wtf could anyone have done with what went down there recently, other than let yet another shit storm run its course, until shitsorm in a teacup version 10,986.B finally ran its course and ran out of fuel for its own fire. There are divides and clashes here that run so deep and are so bitter they look like they are never gonna be healed. Perhaps Tony Blair should step in as a peace envoy, with his track record in the field im sure he'd be just perfect for the job.

What he said ..looks for arrow key can't find it..maybe a mod can PM me and let me know where to locate it on this keyboard <3

I actually don't have a bad word to say about the mods. Sad to see Snolly go but I know real life sometimes is more important than dealing with EADDenders. ;)

Hmm I have mepth....................................I am not partaking.

to bring you up to speed;

knock, quiite possibly the best mod to have ever graced our grubby collective here at eadd, is no longer alive. shambles on the other hand, for better or worse yada yada... most certainly is. in fact hes as nauseatingly prolific as ever, replete with standard v1. tyrannical personality change. not quite sure how you missed the guy. the board usually suffers some form of stim-binge related, bizarre alteration on an all too regular basis

knock, fighting on the side of common sense and true love for the open forum of debate, hr, bitch and counter bitch - community we had (thats had) here at eadd... managed, via his HUGE natural besting in both intellect and manhood-size, of certain individuals up the chain - was conspired against by said halflings, to lose his job of BEST MOD EVER over a ridiculous minor technicality that - given normal circumstances - should not have resulted in more than a passing admonishment in private.. advertisment for his now vacant position began post-haste, knock - understandbly devestated, laments to a few close friends and im sad to say, terribly - is found dead.. two days after his removal.

all the while this is happening, and in the typical newfound spirit of efficacy - the hunt for knocks' replacement continues apace, and very shortly afterwards, indeed before even the guys funeral had taken place.. well, small world etcetera etcetera - knocks hurriedly adopted bythe afore mentioned shambles himself (this may have been a de-facto no-contest though, given the fact the majority of us were away in shock and doing our best to keep our stomach contents from showering our keyboards, monitors and screens (cracked or otherwise) in a fine mist/chunky soup of toxic disbelief. so yeah, the best candidates may not have had opportunity to apply

but its actually all okay now, so dont worry

hope that helps

BULL SHIT!!!!! Knock was NOT found dead TWO days after his removal of being mod at all Would you like me to quote dates here? He was de-modded about a week before he died, and really is this appropriate when his family / friends may be watching. As much as Knock was loved (I loved him to though only knew him a short time) he broke the rules and anyone who does so gets de-modded, must we continue this about knock - can we not let it lie and let the bloke rest in peace? Well he did NOT die two days after being de-modded anyway - please get your facts straight on that one.

He took diphenedine on the Wednesday (26 Feb) and was reported to have passed on the Friday - we don't know how he died. Feel free to read through his posts if you'd like to contest this. I'm not saying (as I do not know, as NONE of us know) as to whether he took more diphenidine after the Wednesday that he typed on here.... but please take that back that he died two days after being de-modded because it's WRONG information.

Anyway Knock was one of the most amazing mods/people I ever got to know on this site even if it was only a few months in comparison to most of you. He took time in helping me n is a true loss to this site. He gave a lot to Bluelight and we'll never ever forget him.

In my opinion, I don't think Knock disappeared due to being de-modded he sent me a PM not long after it happened (which I'm not going to disclose, but have not yet, and will not yet, delete).

Anyway I had to put my 2penny in.

Agreed, MDB.

when you're not a moderator, you have 1 task. to post. when you are a moderator, you have several duties, which takes away from your prolific posting.

it's kinda like a computer. if you run 1 program, it's really fast. when you run several programs, the processing power is shared and each program becomes slower.

i used to post 20-25 posts a day in bdd and od. when i started moderating, that dropped drastically. when i took two forums, that dropped even more. when i joined senior staff, my posting, especially posts specifically aimed at hr diminished to a level which i have to confess, i am disappointed of. you have to scan every thread, edit posts, unapprove posts, report spam, participate in staff discussion, etc. in the greater scheme of things you are contributing just as much to the forum. but if that specific aspect is important to you as a staff member it does hurt a little bit.

What a load of barely 1/4 truths and twisted nonsense that is, you show no respect for the mans passing with this type of heinous shit stirring. Few would sink so low as to use such a thing as a means of making suvh casual and vicious attacks on people you don't even know.

Go back to wear ignorance like some kind kind of badge of honour, maybe because you have none of your own.

Knock was well respected here by both members and staff, you know nothing of what actually went on beyond snippets of bitter gossip.

You're barely tolerated here, think yourself lucky that remains the case, for now you certainly don't deserve it and it's only the seemingly never ending patience and tolerance of the mods here that allow you to still post at all.

Shameful, :|

anyway back to things that of of any real importance ( in comparison to the above)

I'm still around the place, never was one for a swelling post count and did take a while away from EADD for my own reasons

Others have not yet completed the rehabilitation program........some may never reach the end :|

I'd love to see BHM's response to this...

As has been mentioned, it can be surprisingly hard work modding. Well, sort of. Depends on how much work you make it really but can be kinda stressful at times and there is qiute a bit to do in terms of keeping reasonably up to date with everything on the forum and wider staff stuffs, dealing with PMs and all the general day-to-day donkey work of doing things with threads and the like. And mods have their various general other day-to-day (and occaisonal outbursts of bonus stuffs, things and thats) stuff of whatever else is going on in their life too which does leave less time for posting sometimes.
