Gibberings CLXXI: No Twattery Allowed - Waiting on Raas's Call

^ fuckin a !
I've seen em twice- you won't be disappointed. If you are a fan, to see em.
I knew someone that saw them in the early 90s, and post-reformation - and said they play better now.
Though I'm not sure if Kim deal is still in the band?
Either way, they're great IMO

i think kim deal has left, i read up on them on wiki as someone at work said that someone in the band had died, they hadnt, according to wiki. Kim Deal did the backing vocals too so her departure might make a significant difference to their sound, i dunno.

Just have to sort out some time off work unless i attend without drinking or boshing any otther substances if i have to work the next day. I probably would regret not going, i still regret to this day not going to see David Gray at a small venue performing his new album at that time "draw the line" which has gone on to become one of my all time favourite albums. Yeah ive decided to ask for the next day off, so i can go AND get chemically buzzed up, if they grant me the day off.

Pixies would probably be good.. though that certainly isnt cheap. Bit confused by the venue though as it's where I play with spinny toys with my hippy mates occasionally and really can't picture it as a site for a concert.

And aw, shame, Chatative! Bands shall be rather grand on their own on the Sunday, though.

Both times I saw the pixies was mindblowing - one of those times I smoked a fat spliff in the front row as soon as they came out.
My friends were at the back, so I had the whole thing to myself, and no matter where/how exhaled the smoke, it went straight into frank black's face as he was singing.
Oops! Good thing he's a stoner (allegedly).
Yeah Kim left (to start touring with the breeders again) - but from what I understand she was the source of a lot of tension in the band anyway, and...as much as I love her bass playing and backing vocals; I'm sure they wouldn't have replaced her with any slouch.
Actually, I don't know this girl's work, or bands she's played in (besides their names) - but (without wishing to sound extremely shallow....) does she look like she would disappoint?

Would love to see the Pixies..!

Really need to start making more of an effort to get out and see some bands again. Has been toooooooo long..!

In other news, I have the energy of a 10 year old corpse...! Rattling is shite :(

Enjoy!
If it's shit, you can blame me - but I highly doubt it!

Btw your username reminds me of a gig I saw a couple of years back - Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield.
I do love that song a profess a weakness for both of those artists.
Cool hearing them duet 'my drug buddy' live.
And even wasnt fucked off his head.
He once got busted leaving Australia with smack and acid; tripping in the airport dropping coins down storm water drains as if they were vending machines. I've seen his band leave him alone onstage by himself in disgust at his state of intoxication.
That's my kind of performer...sometimes heh

Music is nothing without drugs, equally, drugs are nothing without music...!

Although when I think about it, if I turned up to work and my colleague was completely incapable of doing his things it would become kinda tedious and frustrating... I'd probably just get as fucked as said colleague though to be fair..

God knows how many times I've turned up to work in a complete mess...

Edit... hello Mr colt :)

Was any acid had these week?

I've been worse tbh... I did a rapid detox on subs, hashed together by myself with some ketamine to boot, which was grand.. that was over a week ago now and I haven't touched either since..

Just sweats, aches, sneezes, headaches, no energy etc etc you know the cracks... All fairly mild in comparison to other rattles really, unfortunately that doesn't give me much comfort.... oh, all while doing 12hr days on a construction site.. It's fair to say I'm pretty fuckin useless... :\

Enjoy!

Intoxicated performers can be extremely entertaining, Shane McGowan had it down to a fine art, bashing himslef over the head with metal trays and other crazy antics, but if someone is so wasted that they can barely stand up or cant even manage to slur the words to their own songs then they have gone too far and overdone it (Pete Doherty, syd barrett?). It's a fine line to tread i guess. Not just for music artists, but for us mere mortals too.

I've seen Pete Doherty twice... The first he stumbled out 45 mins late, threw up on himself then lowered himself very slowly onto the floor... and there he stayed.. :(

Second time, thought I'd give him a second chance because I'm quite fond of the little scamp, he turned up an hour late, here we go again, that little prices dome it again...

He came out and played a fuckin blinder, was actually one of the best gigs I've ever been to..

Saw the Pixies a couple of weeks ago - had a wicked time. Managed to get pretty near the front, but all hell broke loose when they played bone machine and I got even closer to the front. Still got the bruises and the scars of sexual abuse to prove it (had my arse fondled by a hot girl at one point, but got carried away from her by the scrum before I could say "Well, really!"=D)

They played a pretty predictable, greatest hits set (only one or 2 off their new album), not that I'm complaining, but I would have liked some more of the BossaNova surfy stuff. Didn't really miss Kim TBH.

But even then you get stories like this:

So what do I have to say about Zodiac Mindwarp? What a letdown. We have been going to their gigs since the early nineties and have never seen them perform like this. To be fair to the band, they were up to scratch and did their jobs to the usual high standard, but it was Zodiac that spoiled it. We paid £16 (about $26) per ticket for a show upstairs at the O2 Islington, which is more expensive than the average band that plays in that room, so we expected the performance to be worth at least that. Zodiac stumbled on to the stage completely wasted.

He's really aged badly and instead of looking the cool rock star he did years ago, he looks more like a seedy old man who likes to holiday in Bangkok by himself. He slurred through his words, he fell over and he had to keep himself balanced on the rigging at the side of the stage throughout the show. I'm sure he thought he was amazingly stylish gesturing towards his cock and then pointing at various women in the audience. I felt sorry for him and annoyed for the people I had convinced to see this band for the first time. The last time I saw them was at The Borderline in 2010. That was an excellent gig, but I think more for the fact that The Treatment were supporting. The rest of the band are wasting their time with Zodiac in my opinion, particularly "The Cat" on drums who stole the show again. Quite frankly we think he's a tosser and so did the rest of our group. We definitely won't be rushing out to see them again, very disappointing to say the least.

The guy obviously didn't get it. I mean:

He's had his arm amputated and a microphone grafted onto the stump. That's well Cronenberg.
