Gibberings CLXXI: No Twattery Allowed - Waiting on Raas's Call

The best gigs are the ones where the frontman is cunted and makes an arse of it. If you want to hear them note perfect listen to the album. That Pete Doherty whiteying on himself gig sounds far better than the one where he played well.

In gig news. I got a Ghostface ticket today %)

Red & Meth at ABC on a Saturday night, then Ghost at The Arches the following Tuesday. WUTANG WUTANG WUTANG
 
^ I've seen Evan in both states also. Definitely much better when he's "together" - no question - but sometimes I like seeing that world class touring acts have off nights too (I used to perform in all manner of states when I was younger).
Only seen the Pogues once, but fuck it was a great show.
A friend of mine supported them when they toured Aus in the early 80s.
Shane was so fucking drunk the support act's roadies had to go score, then shoot him full of speed before he could make it on stage...13 songs in, I believe.
I saw em a couple of years ago and even though he's got no teeth left, he's still got an amazing voice. Love Shane McGowan.

I was wondering about him, as not seen or heard anything about him for years. Was fearing the worst, that if he hadnt died then he'd lost the plot completely or just become totally pickled into stupour by his alcohol consumption. I remember seeing him 25 years or more ago completely out of it on TOTP, performing their christmas hit with Kirsty McColl. I also saw The Pogues live in Newcastle City Hall about 25 years ago, it was a great crowd, and a good gig, even if it was an all seater event, and if you tried to get out of your seat the bouncers rammed you back in, as i discovered very early on, which took the edge off the event a bit after such an ecsessively forcefully violent OTT reaction. :!

I didnt "get" ZMW at first either, Sammy G, someone had to explain to me that they were a pisstake. :o

It was only a few years back that he threw a guitar at his landlady and tried to eat a Beach Boys record as a protest against US imperialism.

He's still very fond of the acid, I believe.

Not just the teeth thing, but he looks much healthier alltogether, presumably he must have cut back on his drinking. Sorry to hear that his mental state is dangerously unstable, i just thought he liked his booze a little too much, but perhaps that was allways a part of his genius for lyric writing, or at least his tales of being "drunk to hell, with the arms and legs of other men scattered all around, sometimes crawling, sometimes walking" etc.

He drinks up in a pub about 45 mins drive from where I live in a very rural area of Tipperary. He drinks a pint glass with a mixture of drinks I believe to include half a pint of peach schnapps and some other drinks which I can't remember. Then again I'd imagine he would drink whatever was on offer.

I love that second clip, seen it dozens of times. There's a good one of him crowd surfing in Fabric (I think), and climbing up the side of the room.
 
Took a little bump of speed to get me through the final writing hours of today.. Wrote like a madman, went home, cleaned the whole house and did long due laundry and dishes with tunes blasting.. Think I took a little more than I intended :)
 
Just picked up myself some +S Ket to settle these withdrawals down and put a :) on my tired little face...!

I do wish I could get some racemic though, I find it works better for withdrawals for some reason, not sure if it's just because it lasts a little longer or what.. :?

Just heard on the news about that poor lad who was killed at Park life...! That's fuckin sad man, I hope they catch the bastard... They should ban booze and make mdma compulsory, less hitting, more hugging :) Faux-love it might be but it's better than real hate and violence :(
