My understanding is you cannot fit an oral dose of speed on a blotter and this mixtures hasn't been seen since the giant LSD pill days of the 60's and early 70's. That is actually the reason blotters took over is you can't add speed to them. Since I haven't seen test results showing this mix since the DEA ones in the 70s I am going to have call an early BS.

Gardaí seize ‘Captain America’ LSD after students warned of drug cocktail

The drugs are in paper-based form and were found in a house in Blackrock in Dublin

Updated 22.44

GARDAÍ IN SOUTH Dublin have seized a small quantity of drugs believed to be a mixture of LSD and methamphetamine after a warning was issued to students about such drugs yesterday.

The drugs are in paper-based form and have an illustration of the Captain America superhero on them.

They were found during the course of a search by gardaí of a house on Obelisk Walk in Blackrock this morning.

Further analysis is to be carried out on the find and no arrests have yet been made.

The seizure follows a warning by gardaí to a number of Students’ Unions in the capital yesterday following the hospitalisation of a number of students who are believed to have taken the drug cocktail.

UCD Students’ Union issued the warning to their students yesterday by they told TheJournal.ie that the warning was not specific to them.

The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) has today issued its own warning ahead of exam parties and summer festivals about the “risky business involved in taking novel and unknown drugs”.

“You can never be sure 100 per cent of the contents or origin of an unknown drug,” USI deputy president Denise McCarthy said today.

It may be a risk to your health and the USI want young people to think before they take any drug, it might not be what you think it is. We’re concerned that there is a lack of education on drugs in Ireland and perhaps we need to speak openly about the issue.

McCarthy says that the USI wants to, “encourage people be sensible and educated, have your celebrations end well, not in A and E or worse.”

Hmm, perhaps a DOx compound or another long-acting psychedelic research chemical? Seems more likely than needlessly putting another drug in below active amounts on the blotters with LSD.

Almost certainly a DOx compound I would guess. A blotter that makes you trip out and stay awake for a couple days is much more likely to be something like DOC rather than LSD and methamphetamine. Besides not being able to get a large enough dose of speed on the blotter, people who lay LSD on blotter are generally active in the psychedelic community and care deeply for it. I'd wager most wouldn't go around and and damage the scene but introducing blotter with LSD+MA, that is a propagandists dream.

I agree with you guys. I bet this is some of that 25i-NBOME nonsense or some other RC that is usually found on blotter,, ya know what of those RC drugs that can be dosed in super small doses. I always hear horror astories about that 25i-NBOME BS, what is it supposed to do? is it any good in the right dosages? I just don't understand why people like taking some of these RC drugs, especially the "stimulant/psychedlic" ones... The only 2C-X compound i ever heard was worth trying was the good old fashion "2C-B" but for some reason they made that one illegal, maybe cuz it was the only one that was enjoyable and somewhat safe??

^ some people love psychedelic phenethylamines.
The 25-x NBOMe series have caused a media storm because they are too potent and dangerous for uninformed people to mess around with (hence the reports of deaths) - but there are plenty of people that really like them also.
What is it supposed to do? Most reports indicate highly visual trips.
The 2C-x family are all analogues of mescaline, I believe, and different people respond to them in different ways.
2C-B is well known, but some of the lesser known 2C-x drugs are highly regarded to.

At least some of those reports were accurate (well...a couple) in identifying the substance responsible, unlike the ignorant speculation in this article.
There are so many research chems around these days, that guessing what is on those tabs is all just speculation until they can be properly lab tested.

Good thing about the internet, when I emailed these "journalists" to point out their errors they said they had an inbox of similar complaints. Now please explain how a non existent combo has a street name? Or just admit you make this shit up, like meow meow, or smiles or any other "street name" no person anywhere uses in real life.

Hospitalised students took separate drugs, not 'scuzz'

Tom Brady Security Editor – Updated 16 May 2014 07:23 AM
Toxicology tests have confirmed that seven UCD students, who were hospitalised, had taken LSD and amphetamines separately.

Gardai have dismissed earlier reports that they became ill after taking a lethal new concoction, known on the streets as "scuzz".

The seven were admitted to hospital and six of them were said to be in a serious condition.

All had been behaving very erratically and, according to gardai, posed a danger to themselves and to others.

Gardai warned, last night, that taking the two drugs on the same night could also result in a heart attack.

Those admitted to hospital were all either medical or veterinary students at UCD.

However, a UCD Students' Union spokesman said that the issue was not solely confined to UCD.

As a result of inquiries over the past week, gardai from the Donnybrook district drug unit carried out a planned search of a house in Blackrock, in south county Dublin, on Wednesday night.

They seized nine LSD "deals" in paper form in the house. The paper depicted the comic superhero Captain America.

Gardai believe a total of 16 "deals" were purchased.

They pointed out that LSD tabs in paper form cannot contain amphetamines and following toxicology tests they were satisfied that the ill students had taken the two separately.

The alarm was raised initially last Friday when a student at a party in Dundrum began behaving abnormally after taking the drugs and an ambulance was called.

By the time the ambulance arrived, three others were also unwell. A fifth student in the house was also taken away in the ambulance as a precautionary measure and all five were brought to St James's Hospital.

A sixth student was later hospitalised after he was found behaving erratically in the city centre, and on Wednesday morning a seventh was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital after he was detained by gardai under public order legislation when found in Harcourt Street.

A garda told the Irish Independent: "There has been a lot of misinformation about the drugs involved. There is no evidence of any cocktail and it is clear from the toxicology tests that the hospitalised students had taken amphetamines and LSD separately.

"But the result of taking the two can be very dangerous as the users lose control of themselves and can also suffer wider effects such as cardiac arrest," he added.

He said the source of the "deals" had not yet been traced but said they had made substantial progress and were following a number of lines of inquiry.

Officers from the garda national drugs unit are overseeing the investigation and the HSE has also been alerted, while the UCD students' union sent out a warning about taking the two drugs.

^ top work!
That is fucking brilliant; much respect for educating a sloppy journo (or journos) and setting the record straight.

A solid pearl of a harm reduction wisdom in there too - LSD and amphetamine are a notoriously bad combination.
This is really good - much respect :)
