I probably did spend quite a lot on chai tea and cake, actually. =D

But yeah, you're exempt from my nagging then.

Just bought my Boomtown ticket. Had an end of uni/deadlines party last night and I feel pretty rough today. Gonna have an epic music jam tomorrow though with a few friends which I'm looking forwards to :sus:

Must say, it's so courageous of Bob to be doing these gigs so soon after his daughter's death. Kudos, Bob.

Pretty pissed... my indian is gonna be here any minute now

Got my drink driving course tomorrow... lol

Festival wise good to check out secret garden party, was sceptical but was mint, small festival full of fuck heads and more drugs than required. Plus theyve got a swimming lake and you can walk between stages, all of them ina bout 15 minutes.

Id also managed to find my mates 3 times after losing them, which at festivals is pretty unheard of.

Chilling tonight I think, ate a box of blues for a presentation earlier today, after a good snooze still tired as fuck after a few beers. Saturdays always the one anyway, friday is a dying day. Bought some reduced beers from tesco, they are honking, bleh out of date possibly. Also found a frog in the shitter before, how its managed to climb up a waste pipe is beyond me.

Yepyep, SGP looks a lot like Beatherder and Shambala (both of which am going to).. is still tempting me though, depending on whether I still have energy and/or money left over as I think it's the week after Beatherder.

Got my drink driving course tomorrow...

Is that a course to deal with drink driving, or one where they teach you to drink drive ;)

My Dad has lots of amusing stories of driving home drunk back when it was legal... ended up in a ditch once & walked the rest of the way home.

ended up in a ditch once & walked the rest of the way home.

Ive done that too, many years ago, on a deserted country forestry type back road, ended up just not being able to keep the car on the road round a bend that was sharper and went on for longer than i had anticipated, fortunately my car just slid harmlessly and completely without damage down a 45 degree embankment, i think the bank was about a foot deep in loose soil, moss and pine needles which seem to serve as excellent accident cushions. I had to walk about 5 miles home. Next morning it was all "WHERE IS YOUR CAR!!!???"

My step dad wasnt happy with me, to say the least, as he had to tow the car out, and was complaining about burning his clutch out. Other times ive known that ive been too pissed to even attempt the drive, where i couldnt walk more than 2 feet without zigzagging across the road. Just ddint make it home one night, had to use an empty caravan that was about 1 mile into my journey, otherwise i'd have ended up in a ditch.

From another website:

1930 Road Traffic Act

In 1930 it became an offence to drive, attempt to drive or be in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or any other public place while being "under the influence of drink or a drug to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control of the vehicle"

1960 Road Traffic Act

In 1960 it became an offence to drive, attempt to drive or be in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place while "unfit to drive through drink or drugs".

Introduction of the Legal Drink Drive Limit

The Road Safety Act of 1967 introduced the first legal maximum blood alcohol (drink driving) limit in the UK. The limit was set at a maximum BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood or the equivalent 107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine. It became an offence to drive, attempt to drive or be in charge of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration that exceeded the maximum prescribed legal limit.

i think it was in my grandads day, he used to really take the piss, he was the seargent of a firestation, and used to use the sirens on the fire engines so that he could get all the cars out of his way so they could get to the pub quicker. :D 8o Times have changed so much, he'd be headlines on The Daily Mail for doing that these days.

Ive never really understood the current drink drive limit. Is it not dependant on tolerance in any way, so that some people would barely feel 1.5 pints of beer (the current limit?) whilst someone without tolerance could be a bit tipsy if they drank that amount very quickly?

Drink Aware said:
How much can I drink and stay under the limit?

There is no fool-proof way of drinking and staying under the limit. The amount of alcohol you would need to drink to be considered over the driving limit varies from person to person. It depends on: (4)
•your weight
•your gender (men tend to process alcohol faster than women)
•your metabolism
•the type and amount you're drinking
•your current stress levels
•whether you've eaten recently
•age (younger people tend to process alcohol more slowly

Even small amounts of alcohol can affect your ability to drive so the only safe advice is to avoid any alcohol if you are driving.

I suppose this might offer some answers.

I'm not sure if that means if you are tipsy you are always over the limit regardless of how much you drank?

I personally don't get why people drink at all if they are going to be driving... it seems like a ridiculous concept to me.

I understand that it can't be zero tolerance as otherwise people who had drank the night before, ate some liquor chocolate or had alcohol in their food at a restaurant would get caught out.

I don't think I think like other people though, my Doctor's & Psychiatrist kept bringing up Asperger's although they've yet to actually call me back since my assessment. Fun :D

Im not making excuses for it by any means, especially if you live in cities or towns with half decent public transport. But it cant half be difficult if you live in rural hamlet type areas 4 miles from the nearest pub, where there simply isnt any late night public transport and taxis cost a fucking fortune, or, if you unexpectdedly get invited for a drink after work or something when you have driven in. I would never dream of driving in a city when pissed, how could i ever live with myself if i injured someone as a result.

When I used to go & stay with my friend who lived in the middle of nowhere, we used to walk to & from the pub... it was probably only 1.5 miles away though.

I remember once we told them we were sitting in the beer garden & went round the corner to a house another friend was decorating... we got lots of dirty looks carrying empty pint glasses back along the street to the pub - they never noticed we had done it. =D (not like we were going to steal the glasses!)

Folks who live in the countryside tend to be more willing to walk these sorts of distances in my experience... went to a party on a farm & loads of folk just walked home who'd got dropped off or caught a bus there.

Granted that wasn't every weekend, or hell night even for those who like the pub.
