Also, how do they manage to send radio waves through miles of solid rock? (Or are they being sent through the tunnels... ?)
Well, we can register seismic waves through all of that rock and - surprise, surprise - they show conclusively that the planet is made of of a plastic mantle, a liquid outer-core, and a solid inner-core. If the Earth was hollow there'd be no seismic waves and the P waves would most definitely not refract at between 105-140 degrees from the epicentre in the way that they do
