If that is indeed you, you sound like your probably one of the most talented guitarists who posts here... I didn't listen to it fully but you had lots of nice licks in the varying styles. Good work
I decided now that I am getting back into guitar, it's time to get serious. I've played on & off for 9 years, & although I have some skills that you'd only get in that time, I'm severely lacking in other areas. Specifically I just need to focus on my timing & accuracy... actually playing whole songs rather than just little bits of what takes my fancy. I'm sure if I nail that, I'll seem much more like someone who has played for 9 years...
I'm currently working at nailing Blackbird... I can already play it really, so it shouldn't be too long before I record it. It will be my first official recording! Coming soon™
I picked up a few things from my local guitar shop... some Dunlop Lemon Oil & Guitar Polish - I figure it's time I start looking after my guitar properly - I mean I rub it with a cloth once in a while & store it in it's hard case every night but that's not enough. My first guitar teacher was an absolute fanatic for keeping his guitar clean - he used to clean the strings every day. To be fair it was a £3500 guitar & he was a jazz guitarist, so that might explain things too.
I also picked up a book on Blues Guitar. It's not awfully complex & I probably know a fair few things in it already but its the theory I'm after really. I think having a sound understanding of how everything on the fret board connects really gives you an edge. Interestingly, my friend who is a amazing at guitar said he was jealous at my knowledge of chords & scales... I was jealous of how good he is & the fact he can play anything you put in front of him almost perfectly within 5 minutes. One day I'll have somebody who is jealous of me... for the right reasons
So, I think it's about time someone asked this question - what's your rig?
Currently:
Fairly obviously a Fender Strat, but to get specific, a 2011 American Standard Stratocaster in Sienna Sunburst with Rosewood Fret Board
(duh!). I'd just polished the body before that pic, so nice & shiny! Hopefully my fret board will get a bit more life back in it after I use some Lemon Oil on it... should be tomorrow, just awaiting some new strings. Replacing the stock standard Fender strings with some D'Addario's. God knows why I've kept the same strings on for so long!
I won't bother putting a pic up of my shitty acoustic
(Hope to replace it with a Taylor at some undetermined point in the future) or my Line 6 Spider II which will soon be relegated as a spare for back up. I sold my Epiphone that there are pictures of earlier in this thread... I couldn't justify owning two electric guitars!
