Xorkoth, I've read your posts and know you're very familiar with good-quality kratom and opioid WD. I trust your judgement, what do you think I should use to kick this 70mg methadone habit: kratom, poppy seed tea (I'm worried about finding them unwashed around Dayton, OH) or something stronger (ie morphine or codeine) ?
Hmm, well, honestly it's probably true that you won't feel kratom, or you will feel strange effects. Now that I am on poppy seed tea instead of kratom, I can't really get high from it. It does help with withdrawals but kratom has withdrawals too.
I have never withdrawn from methadone, but I hear it's the worst. I have withdrawn from poppy seed tea and it's also bad. I actually switched to poppy seed tea to get past kratom withdrawals (I used it 3-6 times a day for many years non-stop. For me kratom withdrawal has the worst leg restlessness of any opiate I have been addicted to, it's so bad I even get arm restlessness). I didn't mean to get addicted to it though, I could kick myself because I used it 3 times, every other day for 5 days. Kratom withdrawals lasts about 5 days, and after that I didn't take them again for 3 days and I felt fine. Then I liked poppy seed tea so more much more than I liked kratom with such a tolerance to it, so I used it a few more times, and what do you know, I was addicted to that.
I'd say poppy seed tea is probably better than methadone to come off of, but I wouldn't know for sure. It has a very long withdrawal, 2 weeks of acute withdrawal. It's pretty bad but I have an easier time with it than kratom withdrawal honestly, most people think that's weird but there it is, and at least 1 other person agrees with me. Poppy seed tea is my favorite opiate I've tried, including heroin. I love the long duration (like 18 hours long) and that the whole next day I feel fine also. It makes me feel very peaceful and happy, and I get motivated and sociable and want to do useful things.
Poppy seed tea contains morphine, codeine, and other opiate alkaloids, so it's actually stronger than the things you listed as "stronger". Probably not stronger than methadone though, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to feel it.
I wish I could tell you what the best answer was for detoxing, but unfortunately I'm facing the same thing and can't tell what to do, except I'm on poppy seed tea. I did go cold turkey from it once. It was bad, I'm afraid to do it again. It seems like the best course of action would be to switch your addiction to something with a short half-life (codeine, kratom, heroin is pretty short too but I don't want to recommend that to you), and then go cold turkey on that or, if you have willpower, get some suboxone and take the minimum amount you can to keep away withdrawals and repeat as necessary for the ~1 week the withdrawal will last, and then stop. I am strongly considering that but I hate the thought of having to get re-addicted to kratom, seems counter-productive. And I'm afraid the withdrawal of poppy seed tea (2 weeks or so) would be too long for me to not get addicted to the suboxone which also has a super long withdrawal.
I'm rooting for you mgs![]()
