Student at Madrid University comatose after eating birthday cake laced with pot

A brief coma aka a nap lol

Media bull shit they obviously dosed to much and got baked like they cake.

What light weight pussy goes to the hospital for weed? Waste of resources and probably got themselves in trouble.

Getting some cookies soon actually, you guys might not see me for a while, or if I post it may be even more incoherent than usual.

=D

I wouldn't call it an "overdose", but at those levels people are known to have vomiting and diarrhea. A really heavy body stone where you are paralyzed and unconscious can make that situation dangerous. Aspirating vomit has to be one of the worst ways to go.

I've smoked decent weed where I couldn't bring myself to move and edibles are much more body-stoned than smoking. IMO a serious MJ 'overdose' to this extent is not a laughing matter, on the same level as any other depressant OD.
Also, the way I'm picturing it is that there was a huge cake with a shitton of weed in, on the same level as a typical brownie per food mass. A slice could knock anyone on their ass.

^ I agree that an OD of edible cannabis is no laughing matter.
Sure, say "I told you so" to your gung-ho friends who end up spending 8 hours in foetal position on the floor, when they went nuts on the space cakes.
It shouldn't be a dicksizing thing, either - some people are really sensitive to weed, and eating too much is something they should be warned to avoid IMO.
But unless there are a significant amount of other CNS depressants in their system, a pot OD shouldn't be life threatening - just very unpleasant.

If I had a friend on, say - opiates, benzos and on top of that, ended up zonked on too many weed edibles, I'd keep a close eye on them, monitor their vitals, lay them in coma position - and if need be, get them to the nearest ER if things go bad.
I don't know how much cannabis can affect a heroin OD (for example) but it's not worth taking any chances; especially with edibles.
Remember benzo ODs on their own are rarely fatal.
Throw a strong opiate into the mix, and you have a potential emergency.

Watch out for your friends - dont ridicule them; especially if you're not really sure what other drugs they may have consumed.
But taking someone to hospital for eating too much cannabis is only going to make the experience more traumatic and uncomfortable.
(Not to mention expensive, stateside friends).

Suffering from Euphoria? Hahahaha!

Doesn't say if they knew the cake had pot in it or not. I'm assuming not, given how much they ingested? If so... whoever made that cake without telling them is a total asshole. I'm a big fan of consent when it comes to getting so stoned you can't move.

Being too high from eating pot has to be one of the most awful experiences I've ever had.

Something that is vastly underestimated, is the discomfort associated with the consumption of too much herb! It really is extremely unpleasant. It isn't anywhere near as bad as too much alcohol, but it's pretty shit nontheless!

I gave up on edibles a long, long time ago coz I just can't handle it, nor can I get the dose right. I never enjoyed it, so.. curtains on that plan!

While you peeps are suffering from the terrible side-effect of euphoria, I;m thoroughly enjoying the dysphoria brought upon by my anti-depressants. Thankfully these pills have given me a physical dependance and I can die if I abrubtly stop taking them. This makes so much sense, if I were to be prescribed something like oxycodone or morphine for my prolapsed disc or valium for me debilitating anxiety, I could get addicted and suffer from euphoria! 8(

^I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but eating too much cannabis is one of the most drawn-out, dysphoric states I've ever encountered. Worse than datura, too much booze, too much of anything I care to mention.
The pounding heaviness, the aural and visual hallucinations - I felt like I was trapped at the base of a waterfall, and couldn't get out.
I've seen a space cake send a middle-aged hippie into his bed and not emerge for three days - for any reason.

Weed might be non-toxic, beneficial in many ways - but eat too much of the stuff and "euphoria" is the least likely effect IMO

^ I know, actually even small amounts is dysphoric for me. I was just using it as an example to showcase the hypocrisy in the medical profession. "I can't give you this because it's addictive, here have this addictive medicine instead."
