Stimulants Lowering methylphenidate tolerance with oral use

Hi, a friend of mine got a prescription for Ritalin recently, 20mg once per day, and has been snorting the daily dose instead of eating it. He says the first few days were great, about an hour of intense 'buzz,' but after about a week it lost its effect, maybe helping focus a bit but no noticeable change in state. His question is, if he were to eat his dose for a few days, would tolerance go down due to methylphenidate's low oral bioavailability? And if so, how long he would have to eat it before effects would return when snorted. He also takes 400mg a day chelated magnesium, 200 in morning and 200 at night, as this has been reported to help with tolerance.

3rd person posts are so annoying.
I doubt the high will come back if you ate them instead of snorting. You'll have to stop completely if you wanna go back to zero tolerance.

Yes and yes.

To add, there's no point trying to keep getting a buzz off mph on a regular basis, you're just going to need to keep upping your dose. You'd need to take decently long breaks between recreational usage for it to retain recreational usability at a stable dosage. Snorting it a few days in a row and then taking it orally the next few days is not taking a break.

EDIT: Mg is also a weak NMDA antagonist. It may slow tolerance buildup (somewhat if you're not abusing the drug), but it's not going to stop tolerance buildup or reverse it. Also, protip: to potentiate mph, take it with Zn. Taking mph with Zn potentiates a regular non-buzz dosage of mph into a buzz-dosage of mph. Use sparingly because this will ruin your tolerance faster.

Could you clarify what "Zn" is exactly? I'm no dummy, just curious. Thank you. Say what you must about me, but please, fill me in.
