Courts quietly confirm MMR Vaccine causes Autism

Although these particular referenced articles and studies may be horse shit I can assure you that vaccine induced Autisim is a definite possibility. [...] Despite their lack of ability regarding communication, perhaps it is a more evolved form of communication that we are just not ready for as a species.

Amazing. "Although the facts say I'm wrong, I'm right, I assure you! Just check my credentials!" And maybe those born without limbs have simply evolved beyond the need for them!

Not all auties (and/or) aspies are uber-intelligent.

There are also those who are not, yet who have a splinter-skill or skill group, particular unique talents that in many cases can be truly extraordinary. Many do not. Many of us, autie, aspie alike are simply US. Running different wetware certainly, and IMO a very desirable general operating system and CPU architecture, but that doesn't always mean its overclocked so hard there end up LN2 coolant pipes needing plugged in just behind the ears=D

And indeed, there does occur an autism phenotype that is comorbid with mental retardation. Apologies for not citing a source in the lit. But I am going from lifelong experience of almost exclusively my people to people interaction, online or in meatspace, being with other auties, and with aspies (and a girl with Rett syndrome, who in and of herself bucks the perception of RTT. Shes ambulant (a gym coach for special needs kids), EXTREMELY intelligent, obviously autistic-as-all-fuck, and an all round real good egg.

(not to mention I daresay, one SERIOUSLY, visual cortex-scorchingly sexy young lady =D)

So theres a great deal of intrasyndromic variability.

I don't, however, quite understand, and never have, why parents think 'aspie=quirky and geek chic, good thing,, but Kanner's=shitty 'disease' or disorder.

I'd be delighted, if ever I have kids, if they turn out to be classically autistic, as I am. I think it would be quite a shame if they turned out to be neurotypical though, just because, there are so many ways of seeing the world, things either NT or spectrum phenotypes, miss. But I'd hate for my lil kid to be unable to for instance, walk in a forest at dawn, and have just the everyday textures, light plays, tiny life on the surface of a common, average, not at all showy plant, and be so captivated by these things, all interplayed, as to have tears of joy in their wonder rolling down their face, captivated in the moment.

Of something I'm 90% sure almost all NT would never even have noticed the leaves were there to begin with. And be totally blind to so many of nature's patternings.

To lack that (I refer to the pattern-perception, ofttimes highly synaesthetic) in exchange for the ability to pick up on social cuing, to NEED, and to suffer if deprived of, other human interaction, all the positives, and negatives aside of being eusocial, I could never trade. For me, it would be like having an eye torn out, to become numbed, sensorily stunted by the imposition of the filters in place that NTs have (and which benefit them by not having them constantly exposed to a whirling, screaming, chaotic in ways, yet on the otherhand often of breathtaking wonderment maelstrom of unprocessed raw datastreams) To have everything dampened by those sorts of filters...I can't imagine what that must be like.

I wish people would fact-check before posting lies.

In a recently published December 13, 2012 vaccine court ruling, hundreds of thousands of dollars were awarded to Ryan Mojabi, whose parents described how “MMR vaccinations,” caused a “severe and debilitating injury to his brain, diagnosed as Autism Spectrum Disorder (‘ASD’).”

(I haven't read the ruling; I am too ignorant of the US vaccine court to understand the context.)

I am asking if this ruling in the US vaccine courts have "confirmed" that it does.

No with regards to the specific ruling cited, and no in the broader sense since the U.S. Courts have previously ruled against the link.

The legalese can be tough to parse but the ruling is pretty clear that the respondent, in this case the Secretary of Health and Human Services agreed with the petitioners' claim that Ryan Mojabi suffered encephalitis as a result of the MMR vaccination:

On June 9, 2011, respondent filed a supplemental report pursuant to Vaccine Rule 4(c) stating it was respondent’s view that Ryan suffered a Table injury under the Vaccine Act – namely, an encephalitis within five to fifteen days following receipt of the December 19, 2003 MMR vaccine, see 42 C.F.R. § 100.3(a)(III)(B), and that this case is appropriate for compensation under the term s of the Vaccine Program.

It looks like the petitioners originally claimed that an Autism Spectrum Disorder was caused by the vaccination,

Petitioners alleged that as a result of “all the vaccinations administered to [Ryan] from March 25, 2003, through February 22, 2005, and more specifically, measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations administered to him on December 19, 2003 and May 10, 2004,” Ryan suffered “a severe and debilitating injury to his brain, described as Autism Spectrum Disorder (‘ASD’).”

But the specific injury was encephalopathy,

Petitioners specifically asserted that Ryan “suffered a Vaccine Table Injury, namely, an encephalopathy” as a result of his receipt of the MMR vaccination on December 19, 2003.

With regards to the broader question, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP) has a vaccine court that requires that the petitioners demonstrate by a preponderance of the evidence that the vaccine caused an injury that they would not have otherwise suffered. In the event that a causal connection is found, a no-fault ruling allows for compensation to cover medical expenses, legal expenses, loss of future earning capability, etc.

In response to all of the autism claims, an Omnibus Autism Proceeding (Wikipedia summary) took place that ruled against a link between the MMR vaccination and autism. All of the relevant rulings can be found at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims - Autism Decisions and Background Information. In the first omnibus ruling the special master make the following ruling:

After considering the record as a whole, I hold that petitioners have failed to establish by preponderant evidence that Colten’s condition was caused or significantly aggravated by a vaccine or any component thereof. The evidence presented was both voluminous and extraordinarily complex. After careful consideration of all of the evidence, it was abundantly clear that petitioners’ theories of causation were speculative and unpersuasive. Respondent’s experts were far more qualified, better supported by the weight of scientific research and authority, and simply more persuasive on nearly every point in contention. Because of pervasive quality control problems at a now-defunct laboratory that tested a key piece of evidence, petitioners could not reliably demonstrate the presence of a persistent measles virus in Colten’s central nervous system. Petitioners failed to establish that measles virus can cause autism or that it did so in Colten. They failed to demonstrate that amount of ethylmercury in TCVs causes immune system suppression or dysregulation. They failed to show that Colten’s immune system was dysregulated. Although Colten’s condition markedly improved between his diagnosis and the hearing, the experimental treatments he received cannot be logically or scientifically linked to the theories of causation. Given the advice that petitioners received from a treating physician, Colten’s parents brought this action in good faith and upon a reasonable basis. However, they have failed to demonstrate vaccine causation of Colten’s condition by a preponderance of the evidence. Therefore, I deny their petition for compensation.

The ruling of which was upheld upon review.

WTF happened to DITM that this shit can be posted- by a mod no less? 8(

Um.
Maybe you don't know what DITM is about, and you think that we only post articles that are well written here?
Maybe you think we only post articles that we support?
Why don't you take a good look around, and maybe you can quickly revise your beliefs before you embarrass yourself any more.

I've turned some songs I have, mostly a couple "slows" so the difference is easier to hear on a few melodic hardcore punk songs, No Little Pill by Lagwagon is amazing in 432khz. What I did was use audacity and transform mp3's into ogg's, because the bitrate and frequency for mp3's doesn't allow one to mess with such unconventional frequencies. But it sure does do something.

Listen to this with quality headphones, files linked :

There is a definite difference...more organic...you know that chill you can get when listening to a song you really enjoy or certain parts of it can do that? I felt this way the whole time with the modified to 432khz ogg file. Amazing. It would take too damn long to convert my mp3 collection I amass since a decade+ and all my own albums I own to be ripped like that, but its worth a shot with songs already loves. I gotta talk about this to my audio engineer cousin (he has been the engineer for many bands in the 90's, I won't namedrop to look cool, but he knows his shit).

To slimvictor who was saying this site must be approached carefully because of the FONT used, lol, come on, fonts = warning signs now?

Absolutely.
Would you buy drugs on the street from someone who looked too much like a cop?
Would you go home with a gorgeous woman who seemed to have a large adam's apple?
These are warning signs. (not that there is anything wrong with chicks with dicks, but it depends on what you are hoping for...)
Fonts on a website are just one sign that things might not be as you would hope, and that the site might not be on the level, or professional, or trustworthy...

every time you transcode from a lossy file to another lossy file you lose audio quality, you are not gaining anything by transcoding MP3s to ogg....

I dunno. I've used BL on and off since 2001 - DITM used to be about drugs, not anti-vax conspiracy theories

Massive duh here...I only changed the khz frequency, which mp3 wasn't allowing me to do, there was a relationship between the kbps and the khz and so I just used a file format allowing me to change the frequency to 432khz without audacity telling me it wasn't doable. This is not about sound quality per se.

Maybe you don't think that vaccines are drugs? Seems like you are just trying to complain, imo.

A little critical thinking from the OP before sharing nonsensical tripe like this could be in order? Just sayin...
Have you checked out the other articles in DITM? Many, even most of them could be called nonsensical. "A new powdered form of MDMA called Molly" "Parents of child who died on research chemical overdose now want to make it illegal" etc. My job, as I see it, is to help represent in DITM exactly what the media is saying about various drugs. That doesn't mean I only share factual, trustworthy articles, especially since they are in the minority. Because of the twisted slant in the media when it discusses drugs, I need to share such articles. So, this has nothing to do with any lack of critical thinking on my part, but instead a desire NOT to censor the news, and to share it, no matter how bizarre you or anyone may find it. Get it? If not, feel free to PM me and I can explain at more length.

Pretty sure this was proven to be a bunch of BS a while back. But you are always going to have the same idiots that will believe anything "that the man doesn't want you to know." It's pretty funny to be honest, but quite sad in reality.

No shit that kids who have Autism have had a particular vaccine. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

The important thing to say is that back in 1996-1997 I was made aware of children developing autism, regressive autism, following exposure in many cases to the measles mumps rubella vaccine. Such was my concern about the safety of that vaccine that I went back and reviewed every safety study, every pre-licensing study of the MMR vaccine and other measles-containing vaccines before they were put into children and after. And I was appalled with the quality of that science. It really was totally below par and that has been reiterated by other authoritative sources since. All I could do as a parent was to say, ‘what would I do for my child?’ That was the only honest answer I could give. My position on that has not changed. So, what happened subsequently? At that time the single measles vaccines were available freely on the National Health Service. Otherwise, I would not have suggested that option. So parents, if they were legitimately concerned about the safety of MMR could go and get the single vaccines. Six months later, the British government unilaterally withdrew the importation license for the single vaccines, therefore depriving parents of having these on the NHS; depriving parents who had legitimate concerns about the safety of MMR from a choice; denying them the opportunity to protect their children in the way that they saw fit. The news shouldn’t be left wing or right wing, conservative or liberal. It should be the news. It should be independent – Whiteout Press And I was astonished by this and I said to Dr Elizabeth Miller of the Health Protection Agency, ‘why would you do this, if your principal concern is to protect children from serious infectious disease? Why would you remove an option from parents who are legitimately concerned about the safety of MMR?’ And her answer was extraordinary. She said to me, ‘if we allow parents the option of single vaccines, it would destroy our MMR program.’ In other words, her principal concern seemed to be full protection of the MMR program and not protection of children.” Dr. Wakefield himself reiterates the final conclusion of the courts in various countries, but censored by the world’s media outlets saying: “Now this question has been answered not by me, but by the courts, by the vaccine courts in Italy and in the United States of America where it appears that many children over the last thirty years have been awarded millions of dollars for the fact that they have been brain-damaged by MMR vaccine and other vaccines and that brain damage has led to autism. That is a fact.”

Also, there are sources listed, so all you guys saying "CONSPRICY THEORIZZ" need to read what you're pretending to read. There are sources, dispute those sources and maybe your post won't make you look uninformed. Looks like you're all going along with the crowd (each other) without reading the damn sources.

My opinion on this is that any article is at home here, so long as it's about recreational drugs. A Daily Mail or Police One mass-hysteria piece about kratom is a far better fit for this forum than, for instance, a New York Times piece about antibiotics (unless those antibiotics are psychoactive).

But when moderating, I tend to allow for all definitions of the word "drugs". So a vaccine article isn't gonna get closed, at least not by me.

^^ Fair enough - I was concerned because there were at least two anti-vax propaganda articles posted by the same person, who also happens to be a mod.

It takes literally seconds to background check a source, bloodshed:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Wakefield

Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (born 1957) is a British former surgeon and medical researcher, known for his fraudulent 1998 research paper in support of the now-discredited claim that there is a link between the administration of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, and the appearance of autism and bowel disease.[1][2][3]

Four years after the publication of the paper, other researchers' results had still failed to reproduce Wakefield's findings or confirm his hypothesis of a relation between childhood gastrointestinal disorders and autism.[4] A 2004 investigation by Sunday Times reporter Brian Deer identified undisclosed financial conflicts of interest on Wakefield's part,[5] and most of his co-authors then withdrew their support for the study's interpretations.[6] The British General Medical Council (GMC) conducted an inquiry into allegations of misconduct against Wakefield and two former colleagues.[7] The investigation centred on Deer's numerous findings, including one that autistic children were subjected to unnecessary invasive medical procedures,[8] such as colonoscopy and lumbar puncture, and that Wakefield acted without the required ethical approval from an institutional review board.

On 28 January 2010, a five-member statutory tribunal of the GMC found three dozen charges proved, including four counts of dishonesty and 12 counts involving the abuse of developmentally challenged children.[9] The panel ruled that Wakefield had "failed in his duties as a responsible consultant", acted both against the interests of his patients, and "dishonestly and irresponsibly" in his published research.[10][11][12] The Lancet immediately and fully retracted his 1998 publication on the basis of the GMC’s findings, noting that elements of the manuscript had been falsified.[13] Wakefield was struck off the Medical Register in May 2010, with a statement identifying dishonest falsification in The Lancet research,[14] and is barred from practising medicine in the UK.[15]

In January 2011, an editorial accompanying an article by Brian Deer in BMJ identified Wakefield's work as an "elaborate fraud".[1][16][17] In a follow-up article,[18] Deer said that Wakefield had planned to launch a venture on the back of an MMR vaccination scare that would profit from new medical tests and "litigation driven testing".[19] In November 2011, yet another report in BMJ[20] revealed original raw data indicating that, contrary to Wakefield's claims in The Lancet, children in his research did not have inflammatory bowel disease.[21][22]

Wakefield's study and his claim that the MMR vaccine causes autism led to a decline in vaccination rates in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland and a corresponding rise in measles and mumps, resulting in serious illness and fatalities, and his continued warnings against the vaccine have contributed to a climate of distrust of all vaccines and the reemergence of other previously controlled diseases.[23][24][25] Wakefield has continued to defend his research and conclusions, saying there was no fraud, hoax or profit motive.[26][27]

I am complaining. I'll always complain when people promote dangerous, unscientific fear-mongering.

I really don't care that much - just voicing my opinion that a site dedicated to harm minimisation shouldn't be promoting dangerous misinformation. But, whatevs, it's always a good opportunity to debunk and correct the lies.
