The point, OTW, is that in order even to be in a position to be able to give advice, you must have some level of privilege. You must be somehow better off than the people you're advising. And when the "advice" you offer is on the level of telling a poor person either to get some money or quit being so miserable about not having any money, as though they haven't thought of either of those for themselves already, you clearly aren't seeing your own advantage over them -- or if you are seeing it, you aren't making allowances for it.
And from their point of view, they can't tell whether you simply don't see your own privilege and really do think it's that simple, or are fully aware of it and just enjoy acting like an arsehole.
