Well I am 100% certain that they work better for me seeing that I got to try them back to back I am positive. I don't crush them. I don't believe you can crush them anyway because they gel up. On top of them concreting your sinuses I heard that you can seriously fuck your tolerance up by doing that. Then on top of all that it completely defeats the purpose of time release. I have instants as well so if I need immediate relief I would just take my IRs. The name brand gave me unbearable heartburn. It felt like someone was sticking an ice pick in my stomach. I am glad I don't have to take those plastic pills. Hell I wouldn't even qualify those as pills. More like rocks. It's like trying to digest an air soft bb.

Lol I think I was projecting there tbh. I was prescribed hydromorphone ER in an impenetrable plastic shell like you're describing and I hated it too, mainly cos I didn't have anything IR then and I wanted to able able to crush some for IR but couldn't. Yeah in the pack insert of the hydromorphone ER i got they said it's not uncommon for the whole pill to be excreted (just with the contents absorbed), that's pretty fucked up right there.

Today and yesterday I've been depressed as fk. Pain meds not helping there am also on 20 mgs of citalopram (been on it for about 2 months) thats not helping either. It's getting really bad, the depression, the pain is under control but this emotional pain isn't.

A QUESTION FOR ALL PAIN PATIENTS: would you rather have a bit of excess spending money every month and a very strict medication regimen where you running out a lot, can't take as much as you need to be < 1 (pain) and properly functional or have no extra spending money(but money for necessities) but have all the meds you need and be very comfortable pain wise and no fear of running out+script gaps. I went with the latter, but I sometimes question the decision.

Come to England mate....your meds, doctors.visits and treatments would cost a grand toral of.........fuck all. And doctors arnt anywhere near as opiophobic.

Just out of interest....when I was scripted 4x80mg Oxycontin, 4x20mg Oxynorm (IR Oxy), 2x300mg Lyrica and 10x0.5mg klonopin a day whixh cost me nothing forva 2 month supply, how much would this have cost me in the US or anywhere else if I was paying full price without insurance? Im just curiois. I have massive sympathy for al ll youbguys who are in so much pain and struggle to afford meds or to get a doctor to prescribe you them in the first place without being labeled a fucking drug seeker. I hate that term anyway because of course we're" seeking drugs" but we're seeking them for pain not abuse.... If you have a headache and you go looking for an asprin are you " asprin seeking" or if you have an infection and need antibiotics are you "drug seekijg" then? Asking for meds than you legitimately need is not fucking DRUG SEEKING!!! Really fucking annoys me!!!!!

pain management questions? can u get a second opinion.

Ok heres the sit( im fine, my new pain dr is providing me relief)
But my moms bf goes to a pain dr too. He signed a pain contract. She treats him bad , calls him an addict and so on.
So i suggested to my mom he should see mine. But, he says he cant. Its dr shopping?
Can he get a second opinion, not accept meds than drop his current pain dr if this new one is nicer?
Just let me know.
Im confused bcs i never signed an opiate agreement. I just had one given to me. So i know i have rules to follow.

It all depends on his insurance tbh. He might have to pay out of pocket or he's part of an HMO that will allow him to see a second doctor but will pass on all the same info either way.

If insurance isn't an issue than nvm. Your mom might then say he's doctor shopping if he get a second opinion.

About 1000 - 1200 quid a month here at a quick guess maybe more. I'm so jealous of the uk and canada's health system word's can't express it.

So I'm reading a lot of about opana being a life saver. My doc prescribed fentayl before opana. I always thought fent was the last line of treatment. After only 4-5 months of fent, I had to get off it. It destroyed my life and I didn't even realize it till later. How is opana in terms of affecting psyche and personality. Hopefully not nearly as bad as fent.

Honesty! As long as you tell your current doctor that you are going to another doctor and that only one of them will be prescribing then you will be OK. Be honest with both the new and old doctor. It's only doctor shopping if you are getting drugs from more then one doctor while trying to deceive another doctor.

You dont even have to tell the old doctor...you can choose to just not go and then go to the new one as long as you dont have an active script from the old one when you get new scipts from the new doctor and dont try to get meds from both it is not doctor shopping. Let the new doctor know when your last script runs out and he will not give you a new prescription until the old one is due to be finished...then you are ok.

A lot of people complain about the NHS and is far from perfect believe me ( I've worked in NHS finance for 15 years) but the main objective that healthcare should be free and accessible to everyone at the point of contact just makes common sense tp me yes there are sometimes problems with waiting lists for certain specialists and yes we pay high taxesin the uk bit I just find the idea of someone being denied the treatment or medication they need just because they can't afford it shocking in a first world country. Im not sure exactly which of our former colonies your from mate but is it part of the British commonwealth? You mention your mum has a British passport? If you were to come over here then as a commonwealth citizen you would have fullentitlement. Good luck mate i really hope your situation improves. Me and a work colleague were discussing healthcare systems in a meeting yesterday and your situation and the question you asked about pain relief versus spare cash came tomind.

This didnt amswer my question. Okay. My moms bf signed a contract with a pain dr years aho. She treats him bad. He wants go see my pain dr for a second opinion. But hes said that will count as dr shopping. But he doesnt want another script, he wants a second opinion. And if he likes my dr he'll leave his to go to mine. He said before if he leaves his it will take 3 months till he can see another pain dr. What is he allowed to do?

There are no Dr shopping law's where I live so can't help you unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure that doctor is lying. As far as I know it wont count as doctor shopping if you don't get a prescription from that other doc and he should legally be able to have a new script written and filled when his old one runs out. When he makes his appointment make sure he 100% explains his situation to the new doctor to avoid getting in any trouble.

argh.. my sciatica is killing me. anyone else on here deal with it who is on sub?
sometimes i feel like it almost makes it worse, its hard to explain. either way this is awful.

i also have a hard time switching doctors. its mostly due to insurance issues and crap tho. i hate my main dr. they do nothing for my sciatica atm. just throw stupid amounts of ibuprofen at me. also arent very nice... that isnt cool. im in pain man. it isnt my choice.

Sucks...I used to live in that state, Big Bro doesnt want any doctors writing scripts' for anything that works for pain...

You're seeing a pain specialist ?

So I finally find a cool old doc who answered my prayers with a script of lortab 10mg with refills!

I'm really grateful but I'm a huge fan of codeine/morphine for the sedating effects.
Hydrocodone and hydromorphone both amp me up...almost like codeine with some adderall.
I like being pleasantly drowsy.

Don't get mr wrong the tabs to work but I just feel like cod would work better.

I've also got a little problem sticking to the prescribed dosage, but doc doesn't know I've been medicating for years.

So like 3 times the amnt I should be taking.
How do I get back to the low effective doseages zone?

I dont understand pain sometimes.....how any human being can take the amount of shit I do and still not sleep for the pain is a fucking mystery

Take less until your tolerance comes down. Unfortunately if your taking it cos you like the high rather than only when you desperately need it for your pain that will prove exceedingly difficult

Hello all I'm having so much trouble getting on maintenance and figured I'd seek advice here.

I'm 20 years old been addicted to opioids since I was 16 oxycodone then IV OM and HM. I've only been using bupe off the street for about a year and a half. My main problem is I've been taking .5 to 1mg of clonazepam a day for approx 2 years, also I get a script from a close friend haven't been to a doctor in probably 10 years. I'm working two jobs and trying so hard to get better.

I've called a few clinics and they all shoot me down when I mention the klonopin..
I've thought about going up and talking in person at a clinic but if I could just find one to work with me the quality of my life would be unbelievably better. I'm tired of using illegal medication at work and in general when I need it. I would even taper down if a doc would take me in.

I know people who have gotten in a clinic and then gets prescribed benzodiazepines.. It's ridiculous and really sucks for people like me who really need help. Unfortunately rehab detox aren't an option. I plan on being on bupe for a while

Damnit I meant to put this on the bupe thread sorry. :(

Even tough your on the wrong thread be careful with the clonazepam.... Benzo wds can be fatal. Over here your doc would help you taper and prescribe to facilitate that.......i tske it your on the states? Dont know what the situation is over there. Try the ER maybe... Surely they wouldnt leave you untreated if you said you had been on for that length of time and had run out and were worried about seizures
