Bruce deals with humans, like tribes and such. He goes and lives with them and integrates himself near-totally in their culture and lifestyle. He even nearly got his penis turned inside out for the sake of experiencing tribe life.

This is the guy:

He deals with people like this:

Not sure if ive watched Bruce, i probably have just cant remember. I'll look out for him in the future. How does he compare to Grylls and Mears ? A happy medium between two quite different approaches to the 'survivealist' situation.
Parry

Tribe

^^ watch this.

In many ways he's the antithesis of Bear Grylls, and that's what makes him so ace. He's much more complex and incorporates people and culture into what he does. Fucking beautiful creature with an attitude to match

[edit]
wrote my post before I saw Albion's latest, but yeah, pretty much what Alby said.

[edit x 2]
check out his Amazon series too, it's brill.

They're really well made documentaries. Go hunt them down. His series is called Tribe.

Been watching Brian Cox and his 3 part series on science. Some of it was over my head, but the parts i did grasp were very interesting. It got me thinking about if those scientists from 400 years ago had a time machine, to be transported to today, and to watch that show, how thrilled they would be that they were remembered 400 years later on, and that they really were on to something really big at the time, though some of them didnt realise how significant their work was gonna be.

I've been a bit disappointed by this series, not because it's not good but because it's just a bit too technical for me to get my head around. I'm a big Brian Cox fan and have all his Wonders Of... series' on blu ray, but this one is a just a bit too complex for me.

Ben, start again with Walking Dead. It seriously gets fucking awesome. Season 2 did have a dip, but it's well worth plowing through. Ask Shammy if you need more witness statements.

Oh yessum. Finally got around to watching the third season recently and was a good 'un. Am a longtime fan of zombidom and Walking Dead is an excellent example of the genre <3

Porn on the Brain channel 4 tonight 10pm

Just watched that. Was quite interesting. Although the presenter was an utterly bellendical, hypocritical tosser. Kinda surprised at how strong the evidence was that pr0n is a legit addiction with the same brain changes as drug addiction. That 19yo fella they followed was a bit of an eye-opener too. Couldn't believe it when he stopped the car and nipped into a pub for a wank cos he saw a girl in hotpants he liked. That's definitely addict behaviour. 28 wanks a day 8o

The counsellor they sent him to at the end was spot on, I'd say. It seems as though folk "addicted to porn" have totally divorced sex from emotion. Or, more likely, never made the connection in the first place. The way he talked about having sex as opposed to wanking said it all really. That he preferred wanking cos real women could never be as "good" as pr0n chixx. And the way he focussed so exclusively on body parts: "If she's got a nice arse it has to be anal, if she's got nice tits it has to be missionary so I can see them". Call me old fashioned but good sex really is in the brain: the connection with somebody. Not saying there can't be a more visceral - shallow even - side to it sometimes but if that's all you know of sex it's no wonder he feels so low. Kinda sad really. Actually really felt for him in the end after initial doubts.

Obviously the reactionary politician/Daily Heil approach of "Ban this sick filth!!!" could never work. I think the local authority peeps towards the end had the right approach, bizarrely enough. Teach kids about sex from a young age - younger the better almost - and create alternative sites they can use to satiate curiosity. Even pr0n sites specifically aimed at adolescents that they can crack one out over that show more realistic sex.

Pain, Pus and Poison: The Search for Modern Medicines
Medical history series. Michael Mosley discovers what pain is and how we were able to control it with the discovery of morphine at the beginning of the 19th century.

Watched that earlier too. Like Michael Mosely and this series looks to be another decent one. He seems to have the best job in telly. First episode of this series and he's huffing nitrous and being shot up with sodium pentothal. He took 4-AcO-DMT on camera (supplied by Prof Nutt, of course =D) in one of his previous series too. Didn't seem overkeen though. In fact it seemed to scare the shit outta him :D

Seriously?!? Have you never watched a science documentary before? Was my only real criticism of it: am sick of seeing the same stuff - the same scientists, same discoveries, same experiments, same principles - over and over and over again on ever single science documentary there is. Wish they'd be a bit more adventurous rather than just retelling the same stories each time however interesting they are. My last science lesson was age 13 but man is all this stuff basic :!

Don't know if it's the same in the UK as here or not but new series of Homeland and Walking Dead start here next week.

Fucking yas!

I never, ever, get excited over TV shows or go out my way to watch them but for some reason these 2 are just too fucking good to miss.

I started watching both last time I was in Thailand nearly 2 years ago because there was only one English speaking channel on my TV and nothing else to watch.

Then watched them back home too.

Now I won't miss them! :D

First episode of new Homeland was pretty decent, feels like it is going in a more interesting direction.

Season two was pretty bad overall I thought, real disappointment compared to the first one.

of course ive watched a science documentary before, Brian Coxs' science documentaries present things in different ways that makes it more engaging and tell me stuff i didnt know before. Im not embarrassed about that. I dont know everything about everything. I think with Coxs shows you need a bit of foundational knowlege to start with. I droipped physics and chemisty after 2 or 3 years, and didnt engage with it atall at the time. I kind of switched off during those lessons cos i knew i was gonna be dropping those subjects for my o levels.. So he is talking at quite at what seems like a high level to me about stuff that i have huge gaps in basic knowledge of.

I like Michael Moselys documentaries. His shows are pitched at just the right level.

Anyway, just been watching a bit of Kevin Bridges, Jesus Christ has he upped his act, fuckin razor sharp satire; America is bankrupt with its trillillions of dollars debt, so is europe, maybe Africa needs some good rock bands to do a concert for us.

I cant do him justice, but if anyones missed it, and you have catch up tv or w/e its outstanding.

More and more Walking Dead fans are coming out of the woodwork. This is great.

I dont think Walking Dead Season four is gonna be broadcast in the uk for a while. Will have to make do with downloads, rather than waiting for it to be broadcast in the uk.

Except that actually happened in real life.

I am shocked, tbh my 1st go scared me to death but that was due to a dumb dose.

just rewatched the last 2 episodes of The Walking Dead season 3, to set me up for season 4, which begins in 8 days.

I think Carl's gonna go psychopathic in season 4, cant begin to imagine what the governor and his last 2 lieutenants are gonna do. Theres an 11 minute interview with Andrew Lincoln and all sorts of previews on youtube but i dont really wanna watch them and ruin any surprises. Mr Lincoln has come a long way since Teachers.

^ really looking forward to S4 Walking Dead, can't wait for it to start.

Eastbound & Down

It started well, just gonna watch Ep2 now.

Tried Marvel Agents, but it bored me stupid. I'll give it another go later in the series.

Loadsa new stuff to watch atm. New season Mentalist is decent. Hope it's gonna be the last one tho, and that they'll end it on a high, unlike Dexter. This season of Hell on Wheels has been good too, better than the first I recon.

Brand new series called By Any Means, anyone know if it's any good?

[edit]

jebus, just looked to see if there's owt worth watching on normal tell tonight and saw this.

This is gayorstraight territory. Gayorstraight, I occasionally miss you when I read about this kinda stuff on telly.

Sex Box
10pm - 11pm, Channel 4

If you’re expecting to see people actually having sex, you’ll be disappointed. The brave volunteers merely talk about their feelings just after having sex with each other… in a soundproof box… in a TV studio… with Mariella Frostrup and a panel of three sexperts asking them questions such as “what would you consider to be good sex” and “what exactly did you do in there” (greeted with a stunned silence by one pair). Everyone tries to be open and frank but most still sound slightly awkward, stumbling over the more intimate details. Strangely, the couples then receive a round of applause – for their services to Channel 4’s limp ratings, presumably.

About this programme
Talk show in which three couples have sex in a soundproof booth and then talk openly and honestly about the experience with agony aunt Mariella Frostrup, the studio audience and a panel of experts. Columnist Dan Savage, body language and relationship guru Tracey Cox and psychotherapist Phillip Hodson all contribute to the discussion. Part of the Campaign for Real Sex season.
