Pain Butrans bupe/opiate addict help

Ahh not too bad then, have you thought about switching to diazepam for its longer half life? Messed around with eti for awhile in silly doses, both the 'pellets' and pure powder, was very more-ish. I had some crazy dreams and WD's when switching back to diazepam.

currently 7mg of etizolam, and 2mg of bupe.

OP, you will not have to wait til you are in withdrawals to slap on that butrans patch! Just go ahead and put it on. I have never had an issue with this and I will find the official info on it for you...along with sources for the info.. Explaining about the dose being small enough that it will not block the other opiates/opioids, and also the info that shows how much it releases per hour/day...that way you can read through it and ease your concerns.

Not only have I been a chronic pain patient for many, many years I have also been a nurse for 20 years. So I can speak from the "technical" aspect of it, but more importantly from personal experience.

That would be great! Thanks a lot! Just what I needed really. Picked up the 4 x 5ucg patches awhile ago but haven't put them on as I didn't know if it would put me into precipitated WD I was also getting early WD as I was due my codeine/tramadol dosing time so I had that instead!

Soo it won't block or reduce effects any? When I slapped 3 10ucgs on I couldn't feel DHC..Maybe the bupe clouded it?

At what dose would it block opiates/oids? The strongest patches are 20ucg but will be lucky to get 10ucg.

My G.P also has scripted me 'Metoclopramide'..10mg once 3 times a day. Is this in case I get sickness from the bupe? As I say my pain specialist never asked for that and I don't have sickness issues even on stronger opiates so may not be worth taking if I don't feel adverse effects from the bupe.

Also prescribed Dosulepin 25mg ‘ONE to TWO a NIGHT' These where prescribed as an alternative to Phenergan for sleep. I normally get to sleep fine so doubt I’ll use these much neither. She said they where an anti depressant at larger doses - IME I've never got along with AD's and they interfere with Tramadol due to its SNRI effects.

I'd very much still like to be scripted Tramadol with the patches like a weak break through pain med when the pain gets bad. Only have a few sheets of tramadol now mind, can get a few more. Will have to ask my doc if he will put me on them as well as pregablin as I've been taking them, only in 300mg's which is OTT, shame there not tablets which I could half but there powdered hard caps and can’t be bovered opening, weighing and dosing them this way.

EDIT: The Dosulepin may be for the spinal headaches I get.

Careful with Pregabalin though, it is pretty nice recreationally and there is the temptation to take more in order to get that pleasant effect. Although a walk in the park in terms of addictiveness and coming off than strong opiates I would think.

It is known as the wonder drug for nerve/neuropathic pain. Definitely a better option than opiates if it works for you.

What else helps you back pain sufferers? I have tried everything...Inversion tables, massages (nice when done by a hot bird!), Rolling on the new rollers...These make my back dead straight for awhile! :O Chiropractors/back manipulation, weird devices you lay on.

Deffo recommend rolling, you can massage your whole body, I find my legs are VERY tight and of course they're linked to the back.

Not had Accupuncture has this worked for anyone?

I was always confussed about pregabalin and gabapentin, thinking they where the same but just come to find out there not! So its 300mg gabepentin that I've been taking! Ooops! Is this as good as pregab? Just going too search to see the differences..I'm guessing gabapentin works on the gaba receptors like in the name! Which can't be bad, can it? :D

EDIT:So it seems Pregabalin is much better than Gabapentin! I like Gabapentin so I should love Pregabalin that I’m waiting on!

I'm still sceptical if the patch's will block opiates from searching around http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/543618-Norspan-(Buprenorphine)-interactions and also remembering not getting high on DHC when on 30ucg's. I have 3 doses/days of codeine left so will probably but a patch on in 2 days time. Really don't want any adverse reactions.

Saying that I really feel like slapping a patch on now as I'm really high! Plus I'm fed up of waking up in minor WD's needing codeine and tramadol.

I could just keep getting a stockpile of patches. Hopefully up them to 10 ucg then when done with opiates I'll have sufficient doses of bupe to not feel much withdrawal.

Hoping the bupe will boost my mood like I remember it doing as I'm quite low at the moment.

This is incorrect. I am on Butrans 20 patch and it is a micro dose compared to what people take bupe for blocking effects. It doses .2 mg per hour...which equals (.2 times 24 hours) approx .48 mg per day. This is like taking a half a mg of bupe a day...nowhere aclose to 16mg. The whole patch only contains 20 mg...and the patch release over a 7 day period.

0.4mg sublingual tablets are prescribed as a painkiller. It's probably far better than two 30/500mg co-codamol, or whatever. Why has oral equivalency been discussed? Does that mean sublingual? It's very ineffective when swallowed.

Slapped only 1x5ucg patch on last night whilst fucked and did notice abit of a comedown TBH maybe placebo?! I normally don't wake up to atleast 2pm but awoke just before 10am Today!

I've been putting heat on my transdermal patch to try and release more bupe LOL! Also had to cut a few stray hairs of my upper arm with an electronic razor..cos i'm a man beast. The surface area I applied the patch too was quite irritated after, the manual does say not to apply to irritated or broken skin, but unless you have huge cravases in your skin I think they say this as more bupe might be released :D

Had it on since 9pm yesterday and my backs still the same, just that slight improvement in mood bupe gives you. Really fuck all bupe is in me, its all psychosomatic.


The real test will be if I can fuxxxed up in a few hours If not im gonna be pissed at you guys

Am curious how you found the pregabalin compared to the gabapentin, as analgesic and as moodbooster? I've never had gabapentin myself, but I have read that some people prefer them over pregabalin.
