I started sleeping on the floor since about a month ago and looks like I'm getting benefits from it. It seems like it is easier to stay asleep, I dont wake much at night anymore. And the second thing is that it seems to be a little easier to wake up in the morning (I'm always lethargic and depressed upon waking up).

I dont actually sleep directly on the floor, I lay on a carpet and a small blanket to serve as a cushion, but the surface is still pretty hard.

Does anyone have any experience with that?

I've had instances where I slept on the floor. I'd say it is pretty much the same as sleeping in bed but my back really hurts after sleeping on the floor.

Perhaps you have a spine alignment issue? I know nerve pressure can make you feel how you described feeling when you wake up. I have that a lot from my injuries though.

I'm a side sleeper and my shoulders are wider than my hips, so sleeping on the floor gives me back problems. I'm also just boney in general so it's not a good idea.

Every now and then I'll lay on my back on the floor for a long period and it helps with alignment.

^same, i have to sleep on my side to be comfortable, specifically my right side, plus i have read its better for your heart as well. i lay on the floor quite a bit, but it has that thick berber carpet so its not like being on hardwood or anything. when im really tired or fucked up, i can sleep just about anywhere. shoe as a pillow in a pinch and im good to go lol.

I have to; my neighbours play loud music 24/7 and the floor is the only place I can get some precious sleep. Ive had to buy a roll mat and my bed is going to waste.

Ive slept in some crazy places when drunk . Ive also been known to use a shoe for a pillow lol. Ive also slept in the trunk of a car (I was'nt kidnapped or anything) and it's surprisingly comfortable in there, when you get past the terror and claustrophobia....

I sleep on the floor a lot. Have for years. I have a futon now. It sucks.

My house is dusty.

Why do you have to sleep on the floor? why it is the only place where you can get some sleep?

I'm not sure, I've tried everywhere else in my place, but for some reason the music doesn't penetrate my living room as badly, and I've found the floor is even more effective. I guess acoustics...?

i love to sleep on the floor. it feels comfortable to me as long as it's clean. most of the time i sleep on my futon out of habit.

Every now and then ill sleep on the floor when my back is giving me problems. The only time where I didnt get back pain upon waking from sleep was on a steel bunk in the county jail. Hard surfaces alleviate my lower back pain.

"The only time where I didn't get back pain upon waking from sleep was on a steel bunk in the county jail. Hard surfaces alleviate my lower back pain." Serotonin lol dude

but periodically sleeping on the floor can have benefits, I do it when I have lower back issues from over working the area at the gym or from sleeping in an odd position the previous night or when the woman sets the heat to "Africa" and i don't want to drown in sweat while i sleep. But seriously if your having lower back issues on a regular basis it could be any number of things; or your bed could just be too soft for your body. . . some people prefer a firm sleeping surface, I get the best sleep ever when I am camping or miles out in the back country on a Thermarest mat and a sleeping bag... and i spent a fortune on a memory foam bed that is all tricked out, the woman loves it i hate the damn thing for sleeping.

Every mattress ive ever slept on is too soft. I agree, camping is the shit with a sleeping bag and my little green foam sleep mat from my old ta50. I grew up sleeping on a thin mattress seated on thick plywood.

I LOVE sleeping anywhere besides my bed, it really odd actually. All i need is a pillow and a blanket and I could sleep on my Roof If i wanted.

if I had a country house I would sleep on my roof for star gazing. Hell id have one of those multi floor fire place chimneys put in to have a small fire on my roof to keep warm during fall or spring star gazing.

that sounds incredible, or have a cabin in the middle of the woods, and your bedroom ceiling was just a HUGE glass panel so you could see everything in the sky, and when it rained it would be memorizing!

That would be great until the bugs got bad or it started raining. :D

oddly enough bugs dont really bother me aside from gnats. Mosquitos dont tend to bite me and when they do I receive no adverse effects: no bump no itchies.
I guess one could always sleep in a green house to avoid bugs and rain.
