Where is Brimz?/Dreamcast Appreciation Station

I got my N64 out the other day and it seems the video port is a bit fucked and I can't get the SCART lead to work properly with it. :(

I managed half an hour or so of black and white Goldeneye with no sound- I KNOW the game was all about the multiplayer but I remembered the single player missions being somewhat better than that. Creepy sidestepping Russkies with massive rectangular heads FTLose. It ain't aged well.

Why has nobody mentioned Skies of Arcadia? That is hands down my favourite game of all time. I owe a lot of my creative skills to drawing hundreds of mini airships in my schoolbooks as a kid.

Oh Fina....

Never had the attention span to play epic rpgs, but a lot of my friends at the time raved about this.

Used to love my PS1

FF7, FF8, metal gear solid, gran turismo, resident evil

was it hell it was better than the playstation i had both at the same time and a Nintendo 64 at the place we got high the n64 was best of the lot though

I seriously thought you were going to say the Saturn was better than the N64

dont even scare me like that

lol.

I thought he was gonna say the Saturn was better than the playstation............ hang on a second.

Saturn didn't go down too well in gaming history. It only sold 9.4 million units worldwide compared to the 102 million PS1's. With it's 6 processors It was extremely difficult for 3rd party developers to write games for.

I wasn't a fan of the N64 either tbh, it's cartridges were outdated for the time. They were limited in size; bigger cartridges were expensive to make so developers were always limited. For instance you'd rarely have an N64 game with spoken words as this would fill up cartridge space.

Sound was generally inferior to it's CD rom counterparts. You couldn't have demo-discs. No FMV effects.

Because cartridges were expensive to produce third party support was minimal (Compared to the PS) So that left you with Nintendo and Rare as the only companies creating games for it. At first this was great (Mario, Zelda) but eventually it seemed every game released was a 3D platform game with childlike graphics.

Then got a pc and used to love stragegy stuff, command & conquer tiberian sun, stuff like that

^ You're such a pessimist, aren't you.

Here's another PS1 classic:

Heh Psygnosis. I actually have a photo of a cheque for £500 in my name from them. Was some Sony game dev award I won years ago, but Sony were still using their account it would seem :p

In the last year I've only played my girlfriend and I'm afraid that even with me using the shit controller she was still too much of a pushover to make it enjoyable... a v poor loser as well so we only tried it a couple of times. Then we got given a ridiculously large television so I eagerly connected it up again to find that it wasn't working properly. Gutted.

edit: fuckit they are about £5 on ebay. Do I go SCART or SRGB?

Fuck knows man. I reckon it would look bogging on a HD telly. We hooked it up to an old CRT & fired it in the back of their living room. I don't think we could even have set it up on the proper telly if we'd wanted to, it just had an RF type aerial connection.

Am I right in thinking the Dreamcast can fire out HD graphics? Or was that just a mad lie cutting about at the time?

Goldeneye multiplayer, i remember that, my mate had an N64 we'd pop around his after school, poxy little screen fuck knows what was going on

I never heard of that. Was HD a thing in 1999?

The more that I think about it the more I'm starting to realise it must have been utter bullshit that's been drunkenly spouted at (& probably by) me over the years. I'm remembering something along the lines of "The amazing thing about the Dreamcast was that it had HD graphics... before there were even HD tellies!!!".

That's definitely not true haha.

Used to love playing Goldeneye, 4 player was immense. Some cheating cunt would always be Oddjob though =D. I remember being obsessed with Banjo & Kazooie on the N64 as well.

When I was in 6th form we used to always play multiplayer games in the common room, Goldeneye, Time Splitters 2 & Halo. Excellent times
