Its fucked ! How the hell do you put something like that back to normal? Assad still has the impression that he is correct and the people looking to overthrow him are terrorists / people waging war on the country and he will defend it against them. The people trying to overthrow him (including part of his own army) see him as the terrorist and will do the same (for peace in the country!). If the US steps in it will be deemed an act of war and then the shit will hit the fan.

Egypt going the same way - people killed for democracy, democracy formed, people don't like it and out the president - in steps the military (Muslim Brotherhood heads underground). Er how to set your country back 20 years in 6 months. Lebanon starting - Bahrain still bubbling with small groups demanding 'democracy' and to out the king. Assholes in Bahrain just go out of their way to fuck the country - road blocks, road side bombs, IED's targeting civilian people - demanding 'democracy' but they wouldn't know what to do with it if they had it (Iranian puppets mainly). Free housing, free schooling, free medical care, subsidized food, almost free fuel - plenty of work if the locals were willing to get their hands dirty and stop using cheap labor from India, Nepal etc.

Grrr - boils my blood especially when the media portrays them as Peaceful protesters (yeah that go armed with Petrol bombs - Homemade guns etc. Or who think pouring oil on motorways is a peaceful protest). Problem is - the protesters get shot / killed, the dead become martyrs, they demonstrate about the death. Arrrrghhh

Not a drip - what would be the point in making a region unstable, letting it fuck itself and then step in to lend a helping hand 'restoring' the area. No Western country would ever do that would they :sus:.
