Someone on another forum I post at wagered Putin is the key. He doesn't want to upset the muslim brotherhood as he makes too much money from them and Russia gets a free 'terror' pass simultaneously. He's stated he'd exercise his SC veto against any UN peacekeepingforce intervention before, I dunno if his stance has changed yet. I recon there's a lot of truth in this reasoning tho.

That was a long time ago now...Things are so much worse now.

We should never have gone into Iraq. We should have waited for Syria.
 
The fallout from Iraq and Afghanistan most certainly had a role in delaying the entire West's response to Syria, and we know the East (Russia, China) aren't keen to step in.

Mind you, Iraq probably taught us a few things about how not to intervene...I'd like to see at least a no-fly zone or some precision strikes against key Assad strongholds so the whole ordeal can come to an end sooner with as few casualties as possible.

"The West" should stay the fuck out of Syria. Heard about them recalling parliament and thought "here we go again". Just about out of the last 2 wars, after murdering countless amounts of innocent people & sending fuck knows how many British troops over there to die for horrendous reasons, and we're about to go wading into another one.

Why does there have to be a response from "The West" with regard to Syria. As harsh as it sounds fuck them, let them get on with it. I don't see China wading in. Where's Japan on this? What are Columbia doing to solve this? Sit the fuck down Britain.

True. We didnt have UN backing or approval to do so. By international law this makes Tony Bleurgh a war criminal, but quite rich western countries and the USA can do what the fuck they want it seems. Only if you a middle eastern country your not alllowed to do this, that, or the fuckin other, everyone comes down on them like a tonne of bricks.

it's very sad really. This time last year I was teaching 2 girls English (well., taking them for a nice walk round a museum or the library really) they were from Somalia, had been brought up in Syria, had just left Syria and were starting uni in Cairo when they went back. Lovely, lovely girls. I must find out how they are.
