I remember when i didnt get much sleep through the week and used to go on sleepless mashups on the weekends on booze, md and meph, id get home about mid day sunday, and lay on my bed. close my eyes and drift off into this weird dreamlike state, heavily asleep lucid dream for a bit then itd get odd, this womans voice would be babbling about something and id look at clocks and theyd morph and spin, look into mirrors and my face would distort and melt and there would be this screaming noise and id feel terror, eyes would open and id be laying on my bed unable to move with this tingly feeling running down me. female ghosty presence running her fingers down me, pinning me down, and id panic. then it felt like my eyes would flutter and roll whilst i was awake, trippy and weird

lucid dreams are nuts as well, i remember coming home and going to sleep, waking up and finding myself still asleep, but i felt properly awake until i looked into a mirror. and there was this girl and her parents downstairs and i sat with them, and said, am i awake or asleep? and they gave me a funny look and laughed and said your awake, then it snapped to a different scenario and i was in town, and said to somebody excuse me im stuck in a dream, how am i gonna wake up? and they said "im not sure" then bang i woke up... into another dream. looked at my clock and the hands spun, mirror and i couldnt see myself, felt like it went on for hours, jumped infront of a lorry to wake myself up, woke up and thought i was still asleep. felt trippy for about 15 mins, spaced out, weird shit

Shit that's creepy, I didn't know it could make you hear stuff too 8o I think the worst for me was having Patrick Bateman standing over my bed, never watched American Psycho again after that :D

Neither did I til then! Patrick Bateman would be fucked up too, I don't remember watching the film too well but damn the book was hard to read at points.

Tangerine, one of my favourite parts (possibly the only) of running out of weed is dreaming again. Possibly why I've been having such vivid ones recently, haven't smoked in nearly two months now, longest I've been without in years. Thanks for the reminder re: Come Dine, I've been sat watching QVC :|

Love lucid dreams but rarely get em, get a lot of the false awakenings though, but can always tell now cos I feel heavy and sick and not right in general. Still annoying, mind. Possibly more so actually...

I tried for a few weeks to train myself to lucid dream, didn't stick with it which I should have. It does just sound awesome though. The closest I've been is realising I am asleep but still not being able to manipulate anything around me. Now I just stick to a glass of milk before bed and having massive dreams :D

edit; if I was rich I'd buy these goggles which alert you when you're in REM sleep to give you a boost at lucid dreaming. Well if I was rich I'd buy a plethora of drugs, then the goggles.

I remember once imagining my arms were both mini-guns and they morphed into them and I took out a few buildings in town :D Another time I flew to the moon, which wasn't easy as most dreams I can hardly get off the ground.

Obviously took drugs and shagged a load of fit lasses too, but that goes without saying!

But lucid dreams are far and few between, sadly.

Ouch, QVC. It's been a while! I remember watching bid up and price drop tv too, whilst fucked ;)

I've switched to big bang theory. I know a lot of people who don't like it, but I think it's pretty funny. What to have for dinner. Hmmm...

EDIT: Oh noes double post! Snolly, work your newly found magic!

the trick is not to try too hard.
just write down what you dream until your dream signs emerge [ for me its being at school ] and it'll happen eventually.
it is amazing....but not had a proper lucid one for years now. The hardest part for me is actually going to bed and getting sleep in the 1st place

Ever thought of trying to train yourself to lucid dream? It's a bit of a hassle but the end result is probably worth it. I think a few steps were things like writing down your dreams as soon as you wake up, constantly ask yourself throughout the day "am I dreaming?", write on your hand a reminder to stop what you're doing and look around the room asking if everything seems normal. The concept is to make it a habbit of asking yourself if you're dreaming during the day and it will slowly become a habbit in your dreams.

You'd realise you were dreaming if you were dreaming about school or something? Would you only know you were dreaming if you happened to be dreaming about school or was dreaming about school a common thing?

Never had a lucid dream.

Actually there was one dream where I was watching family guy but didn't realize I was dreaming until the plot and the characters started acting all creepy/weird.
I remember checking my dream-remote control battery compartment and it needing like 9 batteries in a triangular formation.

Then the remote sprung aerial antennas and I got really freaked out and tried rolling out of bed to wake myself up. But the duvet began to suffocate me....

I heard the book is actually waaaaay worse than the film, way more detailed and stuff. Don't think I should read it frankly, the film freaked me out enough as it is 8(

Yeah, I'm not easily freaked out by the written word (films are an entirely different beast) but that was just, argh. Bloody good book though.

Sorta wanna watch the film now, got it kicking round somewhere.

And aye I like Big Bang Theory too, good for a bit of a giggle, nice hangover TV. Not seen the latest season though, might remedy that instead of scaring myself to death with Mr Bateman.

Trying to wake yourself up is a weird thing when dreaming. You know you're dreaming but can't really do much about it, nothing lucid like.

A few times I've been in a nightmare and know it, and I've killed myself some way or another to get out of it.

Very weird aint it. jumping infront of the lorry was odd, i thought "fuck this if this doesnt wake me up then maybe ill be stuck here forever in this dream, maybe ill never wake up and end up a vegtable like state and get put in a nuthouse" and kinda floated myself infront of it, i could see the drivers eyes and everything, then it all went slow motion, then i got that falling feeling like when you fall down stairs or off a cliff and get that electric jolt awake

Weird how everyone is different (well not that weird I guess) when it comes to dreaming.

I did try all that dream diary/asking myself if I was dreaming but gave up on it (like everything else in my life!)

I can always wake myself up if I want. I trained myself not to though, because if I realise I am dreaming but in a nightmare instead of waking myself I 'spin' around and change where I am, and it usually works. Completely change my setting/location within my dream. But yeah, it doesn't happen often.

I have felt real tangible pain in a dream which sucks. But also being high on drugs and climaxing (to be politer than i could have) to put things in perspective.

In conclusion: dreams are fucked, yo!

sleep paralysis is meant to be the first stage to astral travel. first time it happened to me i absolutely shat myself - had no clue what it was, just paralysed suddenly with a ringing in my ears and a ominous feeling of something evil in the room around me. felt better once id researched it, but its no small wonder such a mythology grew up around the 'old hag' syndrome. decidedly otherworldly

as justin mentioned, anyone looking to lucid dream should begin by simply keeping a dream journal by your bed. write down everything you can remember. for a while, after id been doing it a year or so - i was having incredible, vivid dreams multiple times a night. from there its just one step to lucid dreams

stopped doing it when i went to prison and they gradually faded away. hardly ever dream, or rather remember my dreams, anymore

Yup, that sounds like what I've been told. Definitely not for me :D you should watch the film though, it's actually really good, and if you know what's coming it probably won't be as bad.
Spoiler for American Psycho:
NSFW:
The thing that REALLY scared the fuck out of me is when he kills the first prostitutes in his flat and then chases one with the chainsaw...didn't see that coming at all, I was with a few friends and one of them actually screamed and jumped to the other side of the room haha. It kinda catches you by surprise :D

Haha, I might save that to watch with girlthing then, she's hilarious to watch stuff like that with. Saw some massively dire thing the other week and she was leaping out of her skin at the mere suggestion that summat might happen =D
