I believe I am. It's the addictive personality finding something to latch onto. Something does not have to be a drug or cause a withdrawal to be addictive. For example, the addict group with the highest suicide rate is gambling addicts. Gambling addiction is a very real and treated phenomenon. Video games can also be addictive, as some online gamers play for days on end without leaving the house. I smoke plenty all day all night, and before I got into drinking and other drugs, I craved pot quite a bit.
However, I really think you have to drink a lot or do a lot of opiates or hard drugs to fully appreciate a proper craving, where it feels like your sanity is slipping away. Pot is also very satisfying. I can have 3 puffs of a joint and be good, whereas being the borderline alcoholic that I am if I have 3 drinks I'll want more and feel irritated if I don't get it.
I have an addictive personality, and so use pot to get me to my happy content place mostly. If you take it away, I lose my mechanism for unwinding and chilling out and therefore am irritable. But with weed, I know it's all in my head. If I've been bingeing on booze for a week, I wake up feeling like shit, and I can feel my body and mind craving booze, no matter the hour. I get stoned constantly, but spending a day not smoking is simple if I'm busy, as long as I know i'll get to blaze a fatty that night.
I think the main thing to keep in mind, is that an addict can latch on to anything, so yes, you an be addicted to weed. But this is not the same kind of addiction as hard drugs, where there are actual cravings brought about by depleted brain chemistry. Therefore I believe weed is as addictive as any other activity which is enjoyable. Like someone addicted to taking a hot bath.
