EADD What Are You Munching On v.Shite Pizza

I've known a few people who worked for a big chicken slaughterhouse that did (in) the chooks for KFC (and other fast food places) and yer bogstandard cheap chicken stuffs. Could tell you stories that'd make yer toes curl. Fukkin disgusting what goes on in those places. Yes there are regulations, no they are not even remotely adhered to much of the time. One of the regular, nightly ways to pass the time was playing football with live chickens. Very few people I know who got sent there via the temping agency stuck more than a single night. Several walked out within a coupla hours in disgust. Some fukked up people in the world. And I guess a slaughterhouse for lowest common denominator chicken products is a likely place to find 'em :\

^ I've not and hadn't heard of it. Just had a lil looksee and looks quite interesting so may just acquire that to watch next time I'm indulging in cheap chicken. I wish my revulsion at the way animals are treated to put cheap meat products on the shelves outweighed my fondness for flesh (mmm... scrummy, yummy flesh <3). So far it hasn't though so I guess it never will now cos I can't really imagine food production could get much worse than it is already. I don't know if this makes me morally bankrupt or not.

Bit of a strange post. You have a revulsion and moral awareness of the cruelty, but no desire to act upon this, and honest about it. I guess this makes you nihilist. lol

The understanding I've gathered from looking into this in depth, is that when animals become commodities the care towards them becomes minimal. Even RSPCA farms have been exposed as being just as cruel as their less regulated counter-parts.

I'm seriously considering turning vegetarian. Giving it real consideration at the moment... But am very unkeen to replace my meat with Soya and nuts. There is 4 times as many calories in 100g of chicken breast, compared to 100g Tofu. 3 x as much protein also.

I'll admit to being very reluctant to replace my sausage and baked beans with, baked beans and... Tofu... which is essentially: more beans...

You have killed less children though so are ahead on points.

Haha oh god

Quornage is an excellent word, also. Been practically living off the stuff since I moved home and to be honest prefer it to actual chicken. Even their bacon isn't bad if you ignore how it looks and stick an egg and some red sauce in there. Probably end up going entirely veggie if it weren't for my love of a nice steak/pork chop.

Just munching on some cheese. Two ounces of it in fact. I weighed it. I'm bored and I like cheese.

Why thank you. I should get a copyright =D

Fucking love cheese

Esp Red Leicester & those really extra matured chedders that are so strong they literally singe the lining off your upper mouth
Goes great in some toasted bread with vegemite

The French & Dutch might think they have the best cheese in the world , But I dont think you can beat Britain for the sheer variety of great cheese.

Am actually amazed that my cholesterol levels are normal considering how much I love cheese :)

Qurger, in a floury bap, with emmental, lettuce, tomato, avocado and spicy relish. Washed down with Barr's cola poured over crushed ice, lime juice and lime slices.

Sucked through a 10ml borosilicate laboratory pipette.

Now that's a copyright if ever I heard of one

Reminds me I got me some Kimchi instant ramen kicking about, housemate was obsessed with it, is literally all she ate cos she thought she was Japanese or summat. No one ever really pointed out that it's just fancy flavoured super noodles that the Japanese eat for convenience when she went on about how it was high Japanese cuisine. Except for Other Housemate finally flipping one day and prancing round the kitchen going 'I'M SO AND SO LOOK AT ME EAT DRIED NOODLES WITH CHOPSTICKS BECAUSE I THINK I'M JAPANESE!' which was absolutely childish and hilarious

Fucking nice stuff though.

Recently munched toasty sandwich wiv honey roast ham, mustardy mayo 'n' last scraping o' chive 'n' 'erb Philadelphia. Would've been quite tasty if it wasn't for the fact it was me last (stale) crust o' bread and managed to burn the fukker so was drier than a dessicated nunflap :!

Got the last smidgen of that (cheap) chook 'n' courgette 'n' flageolet bean curry from t'other night for dins tonight. Only the teensiest smidge of that left, mind, so rather handy I picked up a big pack of assorted Indian "bits" (bhajis, pakoras, samosas) from the reduced section at... wait for it, wait for it... SPAR (not Co-Op 8o8(8o) this a'ternoon really.

Don't think they're especially strange posts at all really, Raas. Just honest is all. Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to say that all meatarians should go out of their way to find out exactly how that meat arrives on their plate (cos each to their own, innit) I do think it's an entirely reasonable attitude and approach to the whole murky bizniz. There are many products and service - "stuffs" in general, in fact - that I find ethically and morally abhorrent. I also (demonstrably (due to lack of doing owt about it the vast majority of the time)) don't feel quite strongly enough to make the necessary changes.

Clothes made in sweatshops? Disgusting... but I need to wear clothes and can't/don't/won't make my own. Consumer electricals? Hideous for the environment, in a great many cases, and also made under conditions so bad that even "good" companies like Apple have to install anti-suicide nets on their factories cos so many workers were throwing themselves off the roof in despair at the working conditions. Food of more or less any description? Horrible for the environment, terrible conditions (for livestock and the like especially) and so on. It's kinda hard to find things which are not deeply troubling when you scratch the surface. Where do you even start? :\

Not now - nor never have been - a bleedin; nihilist though. What is the point of nihilism? Seriously. What is the fukkin point?

Also, fuck soya and tofu - Quorn ftmfw <3
