EADD Events Forum: What do you want done with it?

What do you want done with EADD events forum?

Leave it be. Posters who don't use it being asked to decide it's fate? NONSENSE

This thread should be in the Events forum for a start.

Where it would get no votes and sit, unviewed?

Seems self-defeating.

Events would simply get more coverage if they were publicised here, in EADD. That is only a good thing.

Define "coverage".

That's unfair actually. If I want to go to an event I know where to look. Google. Does google look at thread read counts? If not, there is no issue. If it does, then maybe a merge would be good.

Coverage of viewers' eyes on said events.

Possibly some discussion.

Likely resulting in more successful promotion of events.

They can be publicised here, and are already.

Maybe that's what you guys should be looking at to make the other place fit for purpose, before deciding the fate of something that you don't use. ie: moving the events threads from over here, to over there.

This creates a catch 22 but that's because events are being left in here, when they shouldve been over there in the first place.

In before 'I'm too lazy to click another button and want everything within 3mm of my mouseclick'

Well maybe we should get rid of events entirely then, if its redundant :?

This is predicated on individual events / festivals NOT getting their own threads in EADD, ie becoming part of a big events thread: Possible cat among the pigeons, but I bet that a lot of people stumble upon BL for the first time by putting 'event name' and 'drugs' into Google. Could be the intro to the concept of HR for a lot of people. Events serves that purpose as it stands.

You're missing the point.

Well I don't really understand what you're trying to say.

The other place? Is that the events forum?

What do you mean by 'fit for purpose'?

And do we already have an events thread here in EADD?

I have to admit I do kind of like the idea of working on the events forum, as Cornish and Marmz said. Thinking about it, having many threads in the main forum could lead to some of them just dropping off into obscurity if they were smaller events, and I still reckon a single thread would become too confusing. Not to mention the potential for them to derail entirely, which I think the dedicated forum would do a bit to curb.

I reckon it being a direct sub forum of EADD would help bring in a bit more attention too; you look in there right now and most threads only have a handful of replies at best. There's also a load of people I don't ever really recall seeing in EADD itself.

It's not redundant. If you were responding to me saying "Google", google has to link to somewhere, the more places the better (if they still use Page Rank at all).

Yes perhaps we mods should look after it more before giving up on it. I think I've been in there maybe 10 times ever. Twice as a mod :D

I agree a direct sub-forum would be better, it seems to be a different place entirely, as things stand. In fact I would say it's almost essential for me, I have very little urge to go to events so I have no selfish urge to visit the forum, it doesn't really exist in my mind. If it was there at the top of the page with latest post etc, at least it would register. Like I have no reason to visit the football thread but I keep being reminded of its existence, so sometimes I do, and leave a stupid comment to piss off the fans ;)

I say keep it. Put a sticky closed thread at the top of eadd telling peeps it's there. and you mods have to go archive everything once the sell by date is passed, and move eventsy looking stuff from here to there.

Events need to get promoted, thats how I hear about upcoming shit. But I hate nothing more than even promotion spam, its annoying as fuck. I think just an "Events your going to" thread or whatever would do, rather than cunts posting events where they make 15p per ticket commision or whatever
