@ Ben:

I couldn't get on with Falling Skies .. gave up after about 7 episodes. It was too family orientated for me I think. I need swearing and 'adult themes' ...

You might like some of the following Ben:

Continuum started about the same time as FS and I liked it lots more ... it's not quite as lame and it's decent enough, fairly original watchable sci-fi.

Just started watching Orange is the New Black today ... it's a 13 part netflix exclusive but it's had solidly good reviews. set in a womens prison. The first 5 minutes has lots of boobs. Probably just a first episode tease tho

The 3rd series of the US version of The Killing is just coming to a close. I fucking LOVE it loads. Lots of people have said it was too slow but I think it's atmospheric and the characters are great. It's bleak as fuck, but I kinda like that too.

Don't know if you watch Suits. It's a lawyer type drama but it's different to the usual lot I dont normally go for them). It's fast paced and character driven, all of whom are really good and it's got lots of lols in too. I think it definitely deserves the 8.8%

If you haven't hit on Wilfred yet, it really is fucking funny. Quick, bite sized episodes too.

Some newly released series I've been meaning to check out and are in my queue:
Ray Donovan (seen the first 2 eps, it's not bad). It's been hyped everywhere to holy fuck tho.
Crossing Lines
The Bridge Another scandiwegian remake
Graceland watched 2 episodes, seems okay, kinda seems to be selling itself as slightly 'hip' FBI type with young quirky characters.

Suits is great , along with Franklin and Bash
Love those legal shows, then again im still plodding along through " The Paper Chase" and old episodes of "La Law" at a rate of about one per week

Family Tree is funny as hell , only 3 have been shown in the UK so far, but all of them already aired on HBO so you should be able to check them out online via "alternative" means

If you are not too fussed about the topic matter "Friday Night Lights" is immense & you need not have any knowledge about the subject matter to enjoy it

Family tree as in the british one with the girl with the puppet?

There's been more than 3 eps on. It started off on one of the back channels like bbc3 or something before they started showing it on the main one.

I like it tho, great writing.

I've still only seen the first 2 episodes of new Dexter but I reckon I've figured out how it ends.

NSFW:
Dexter isn't a psycho. He was just a bit disturbed. This new women's "code" that she hooked Harry up with back in the day is what turned Dexter into a serial killer as opposed to just a slightly odd kid with a traumatic past. Possibly even that she's a serial killer herself but does it by proxy (ie, convincing other people that it's ok to be serial killers). Dexter works all this out. Kills her. Stops killing anyone else. Game over. Happily ever after. Bullshit.

Fiver on it.

Marmz I think BBC 2 are showing them now, 3rd one was on last night
all have aired on HBO, they could have been shown on bbc3/4 Dunno

I am a big chris o dowd fan, mainly cos the IT Crowd was great beer/pizza friday evening tv

Well until it got all shit in the 4th season

Fiver on it.

It's been boring me to tits for the last 3 seasons. The only thing it ever has going for it, is that it does a decent season finale every time.

I honestly couldn't give a fuck how it ends. It'll probably be outright fucking ridiculous. I quite like your synopsis tho.

[edit] I still keep watching it tho 8)

-----

Also, dunno if it's already been posted but there's a Breaking Bad season 5: teaser for final episodes out.

Apparently at this year's Comic Con, Bryan Cranston wore a Walter White full head disguise, and walked around as a normal dressed up punter. What a fucking genius move.

Sorry to fuck up the thread with my embed but amazed that none of you cunts have seen " Friday Night Lights"

If I get banned for the embed, it will be worth it if one of you cunts actually start watching the show !

Still havent started watching Seinfeld, need to remedy that one, alng with the wire.

Little Miss Sunshine was an ace flick .. great music in it too

how sporty is Friday Night Lights? Is it like the league where I don't have to be into the sport?

If it's the one about the boxer called Lights I've seen it. I think he has a bellend brother. Standard.

As far as I can remember it's OK. I don't think you'd need to be into boxing to like it.

Nah its based on a bestselling non fiction book about high school american football in texas
"In 2002, Sports Illustrated named Friday Night Lights the fourth-greatest book ever written about sports."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_Night_Lights:_A_Town,_a_Team,_and_a_Dream

then it was made into a movie with billy bob thornton

then into the TV show that im talking about

and now the tv show has stopped after 5 years , they are making it into a movie again !!!

And no marmz , you dont actualy have to know anything about american football to get into it as most of it is based on the actual build up in the town to each game on a friday night, hence the title

Well worth a watch, couple of episodes and you will be hooked

I would say watch the film first yeah( no need to read the book or anything)
no big deal if you dont, but the film is fucking top notch as well and gives you a decent idea of what to expect from the tv show

Will second that Suits recommendation, not seen the third season though.

Mate is a big fan of Entourage so I think that is next on the list, lots of seasons too which is always a bonus :) unless you're Heroes in which case I'll watch the later stuff cos I love you but dangg you went a little downhill from the great first few.

edit: also for more comedy type Blue Mountain State is good, as is Community (with the first few seasons being much better than the later stuff).

Me neither, and gave that Defiance a try, couldnt get into that properly either

The Shield is quality. A lot more "Hollywood" than The Wire but still really good.

Thanks mate. I'll get the first few episodes and give it a whirl then.

Right sod that then. :D

Watchable sci fi, ok, you have me, I'll have to have a look but I was burned very hard by Star Trek and a lot of other sci-fis I tried to force myself to like such as Babylon 5.

Just started watching Orange is the New Black today ... it's a 13 part netflix exclusive but it's had solidly good reviews. set in a womens prison. The first 5 minutes has lots of boobs. Probably just a first episode tease tho

I'll see if I can get it. Tbh the boobs were the only decent thing in Game Of Thones or the little I saw of it.

I don't mind what can be referred to as slow or lacking in action as long as the story, characters and dialogue is there. Same could be said about Treme. Not sure I'll get on with it being bleak throughout though. I'll have to find out for myself. I'm not a sucker for a happy ending or anything like that. Life isn't like that and I wish more shows would reflect that.

I'm the same I wouldn't usually go for it and the advertisements I saw for it didn't really sell it but it couldn't hurt to give the first ep a whirl if you say it's worthwhile.

If you haven't hit on Wilfred yet, it really is fucking funny. Quick, bite sized episodes too.

Yep something funny could be just the trick. I'll get hold of that too.

I'll keep my eye on those and see what you make of them seeing as you've already given me plenty of stuff you approve of already to be getting on with. Thank you for taking the time to post that Marmalade. :)

We got netflix and have only watched breaking Bad. Are there any other decent, well shit-hot, box sets we should definitely watch?

I'm dead slow at getting into stuff, but one US telly show I've loved getting into recently (alongside Breaking Bad) is Mad Men. Doesn't have the thrills of BB but it is well written with some great characters and explores plenty of interesting ideas.

I reckon this season of Dexter has been alright, like it's all going to come together, with many possible outcomes. I like your prediction, Crackface, but I don't reckon it'd end on such a boring note. I think they're purposely making it seem a bit slow, just to shock everyone. It's still thoroughly enjoying, anyway. The fact that the new Breaking Bad is on, TOMORROW, is something that's making me get slight wood.
