as for electric costs, it all depends. its a scandal that the lowest income, poorest insulated houses that commonly run electric meters end up paying more than those on a bill. things like fan heaters, kettles, electric cookers, dryers etc zap up a fuckton. the worst culprit ive found to be the immersion heater - which isnt particularly surprising seeing as its basically a huge kettle. stuff like lights, tv's, fans etc are largely nothing to worry about

Yes, take your photographs on 35mm film and ask the chemist to process them onto slides for projection. It'll cost you and you'll have to go back to the 70s but the quality will be second to none.

iPhoto maybe? Powerpoint is a fucking menace to society and I speak as someone who had to use it professionally for some time.

You can do HTML slideshows nowadays, I think. Google that, and prepare to use your head a bit.

Picasa is pretty good for photo needs, I'm sure you can create a slideshow with it
