This law is great. Rehabilitate addicts so they can contribute more. Government should care for the people.
Exactly what I was thinking!^ more like pondered when her relapse will be due to boxed in emotions regarding her FORCED treatment.
I'd have no problem if she wanted to do maintenance or just a taper, but I know if she kept shooting dope then that's where I'd wind up too.So if that broad (assuming you love her) would want to start MMT or BMT as a means to try to stop using, with the long term goal to be to stabilize on an appropriate dosage of methadone/bupe (enough to completely halt heroin cravings and use), and, eventually taper off the maintenance drug - what that not cut it for you? It can be rather difficult to simply stop, go through PAWS and never look back (cravings, etc.). Perhaps I'm a wimp but I found it to be impossible.
I'm not bashing anyone; I'm just stating facts. I think maintenance is a great thing, but it's not the same as being clean.Wow back from rehab and bashing people on maintenance classy.
I had the police kick in my door and take me away about 14 months ago because my mom called the local psych ward here from 1400 miles away and told them that I was bipolar and on meth, acting crazy!
Meanwhile, I'm completely fine one morning, sitting on the couch and drinking a cup of coffee when they knocked on my door...
I didn't answer and wasn't making any noise at all and then they kicked the door in, guns drawn, and took me to the mental hospital because my mother, who hadn't seen me in 4 months said I was acting crazy on drugs!
I went there and was immediately given a court date 11 days from that day on which I would have to prove I was sane in order to not be held indefinitely! The hatred that I felt for the law, my family and the injustice and equality that goes unseen...oh man!
They tried to claim I was on drugs and manic...I passed the urine test...I refused every medication, was sleeping the whole night through and not even acting remotely "off"!
apparently, my parents had hired a weasely ass lawyer that was helping them claim I was on drugs and crazy and threatening to sue them if they released me and anything bad happened!
Luckily, I had a few friends with a little bit of money to help me out...I called a friend, he called a lawyer and wired him a grand to take my case...Well, it didn't even come close to going to court! Within one hour of that lawyer making the phone call I was released, and they waved the 5000+ dollar bill they were gonna stick me with for kidnapping me for 5 days! It's so easy to have someone held indefinitely if you have family members just say "you're on drugs and acting crazy", I don't think people even realize!
I'm in my 30s!
Until you have a kid this may come across as generally wrong and perhaps stereotypical - I'm sure her mother did what she did out of unconditional love. She probably was worried sick that one day her daughter would end up dead.
I dont have a habit, I just gotta have it, ya know.
That's called dependency
I think you for sure have a habit
Something tells me it may have been clever word-play.
The parent's job is first to keep the child alive. I can completely understand what the mom was thinking.
Their job is SURVIVAL.

Man, if only dope grew on trees, oh wait..
I still can't wrap my mind around what the mom was thinking.
Let's say my parents were to see me shoot heroin, or whatever.. doesn't really matter.
Instead of being like "no moar drugs 4 u, off 2 rehab u go", I'd rather them sit down with me, and have a heart to heart. I'd appreciate them asking why I'm doing what I'm doing, what made me feel like I had to do this or whatever, etc.
