last film i saw was Hannah and Her Sisters (1986)

it was great! i love woody allen's style, especially the way he handles relationships, lots of many true to life situations.

it's about a love affair between two people who are both married where michael caine is playing someone who cheats on his wife (mia farrow) with her sister (carrie fisher), diane west plays a great cokehead as the other sister as well.

woody allen was perfect in this as well as his usual costanza type character

9.5/10

Last Film I saw - Silver Linings Playbook - Jennifer Lawrence deserved the Academy Award fantastic movie!

i recently saw a woody allen film too!

To Rome with Love

enjoyable. nice that the stories shared themes but did not intertwine. i don't like ellen page. i really like the blond wife, who does not get enough screen time. woody allen is a bit much of a caricature. the newlywed italian wife is beautiful--a young, wholesome marisa tomei. the weird thing the film does with the presence of alec baldwin's character is the highlight of the film--there but not there.

woody allen loves infidelity and wants to un-demonize it so bad.

Cabin in the Woods

Joss Wheaton does a fine job of directing actors you might not expect to find in a horror movie in what amounts to an extremely self-aware examination of the horror comedy genre and Lovecraftian mythos, but despite this I'm not sure what the point is. It's fun and entertaining enough, and produced well, but it's not clear to me what the value is of all the self-referentiality in American horror of late, as it's a genre that succeeds chiefly through evoking mood and unexamined fear. In horror, I'm perfectly happy with a ridiculous premise delivered straightforwardly as long as it's claws-bared and fuming with eerie atmosphere. I can't immerse myself in the world a film creates, which is paramount in horror, and guess at references external to it or laugh at analyses at the same time.

The Cabin In The Woods was like a 95 minute long orgasm for horror fans like myself. I watched it at least 5 times in the theaters. The last time I can remember watching a movie over and over in the theaters was Pulp Fiction back in 1994. Just thinking about The Cabin In The WoooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....yep I came again. I need a towelette.

Joss Whedon gives me a rash. It's like everything he does, he has to pander to as many people as possible - he collects tropes from every corner of a certain genre and then hides them behind silly high-concepts and sharp, snappy dialogue so that people don't feel like they're being pandered to. In that sense, I guess he's pretty shrewd, but in general I think he's a hack. Cabin in the Woods is probably the best thing I've seen him make because at least its self-aware of its own tropiness.

Man Bites Dog (It Happened In Your Neighborhood)

In this dark satire, a film crew follows a ruthless thief and heartless killer as he goes about his daily routines. But complications set in when the film crew loses their abjectness and begin lending a hand

Great movie. just great. Check it out if you havent already I highly recommend it

You should definitely check out The Last Horror Movie. It's in the same vein as Man Bites Dog and even takes the perspective of The Cabin In The Woods, in the sense of it shining a light on the viewer being someone who has a need to see bloodshed as a form of catharsis. Here's the trailer:

ooooooooh im gunna torrent that right now

Why on earth would you torrent a movie? Just stream it.

Anyway, I watched a pretty ridiculous film recently: Fist of the North Star

A lot of fun, very silly, and ridiculously violent. Wouldn't recommend a sober viewing though.

KEEEEENNNNN!

Yeah, netflix and all that rubbish charges. But there's loads of free streaming movie sites out there. I would name a load now if it was permitted?

No sites, please. If people really want to illegally stream movies they can just use Google :)

i couldlnt have said it better myself

I think his point was streaming on "free" streaming websites. We are in the now generation, why bother to download when you can watch NOW.

(I tend to torrent as I can torrent high quality rips faster than I can stream .avi-s usually..)
