Harm Reduction Why IV cocaine is not worth it...

I have been on about a 3 week binge of IV cocaine.I have always hated cocaine. Until I tried this ROA. The first 3 times I did it I thought I had found the greatest thing in the world. But after awhile I find myself doing bigger and bigger shots, shots so big that 3 weeks ago they would have killed me. Now after I take a shot I find myself on my hands and knees breathing like I just sprinted a mile and what sounds like a tornado spinning around my head, Everything is louder. I find myself wishing that it will be over soon. The crazy part is 30 minutes later I'm doing another shot. I have been an IV user of heroin for about the last 5 years. And because I practice safe IV procedure I have never had an abscess or even so much as a mark on my injection sites that didn't go away in a couple of days. With heroin you maybe need to inject 1-3 times a day, cocaine doing 20-40 injections a day is not very hard to do. And unlike heroin you get a rush EVERY TIME not just that first shot. I just thought that I'd share this incase there is anyone out there that is thinking of trying this ROA don't. And if you do do it one time just to experience it and stop. IV use of cocaine leads you down a dark and scary road and it is no joke. :8(

P.S- This is my first thread although I have been a silent browser on these message boards for many years and have learned a lot from many of the people on here. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the active members and even the moderators, you guys have saved many lives over the years.

You have to do alot of shots in a day if you IV'ing cocaine.

Cocaine isn't for me, the effects are nice, but they last for just a couple of minutes, no matter how i use it, smoke coke/crack or IV'ing coke/crack, or snorting it.

When i was into stimulants i liked amphetamines way more.

Now I can't stand stimulants, my CNS is chronically stimulated even if i don't take stimulants.When i take just 1 mg of pure dex-amphetamines my pupils are very dilated, and gives me the same effects as 10-20 mg's of the same dex-amphetamine used to gave me.

I had a horrific IV coke problem, and like you i hated the drug until I shot it.

If you're having breathing problems after a shot or shots, you are pushing the envelope my friend and will overdose soon (thats a symptom actually of an OD). You got to stop it man-I'm serious, there is no drug as dangerous when injected as cocaine.

I certainly won't dispute IV cocaine's toxicity and potential for addiction, but it is possible to IV it once and not re-dose. I've done it maybe a handful of times over a few years without any desire to do another shot the same day. All the times I did it I was with at least one other person who also IVed with me. They also did just the one shot and 10 years later none of them have developed a cocaine addiction. Maybe that's because they were special occasions and social use; I'd imagine sitting at home or wherever IVing by yourself is far more likely to lead to addiction. If you can't quit outright, perhaps consider having someone hold your equipment and stash for you, to prevent yourself from bingeing.

i also cant stand stimulants. I've always been more of a downer guy. But when i first tried IV coke, omg!! It was the most intense rush i'd ever felt!! So honestly, the only thing i liked about it was that amazing rush. Fortunately, my only connection for it moved far away, and i haven't touched it since.

That's a death wish right there.

Since I began IV'ing coke I always limit shots to no more than 100mgs.

Try and space out hits and work on your technique.
Sometimes something as simple as hitting a different vein can make so much difference to the rush.

I have tried much smaller shots but Hardly get any effect maybe I'm just used to high doses and am left wanting for more when I do the correct dose? Also is it normal to not only taste the cocaine about 5 seconds after the shot as well as a drastic increase of saliva production in my mouth my lips also get a little numb as well sometimes. Any advice Would be appreciated . I wrote this post at 4 am when I ran out last night and said I'm done.'this morning I just got more and I'm kicking myself in the butt for that right now

Well 100mgs is easy to eyeball. Alternatively you can weigh it out on regular scales. It's 0.1 (or one tenth of a gramme).

I sometimes feel nauseous after a shot, but this only happens if I shoot 'less than the absolute best' quality cocaine. Which is all too often.

I'm not big on coke unless IV'd. Even then I only do it if its free. I do gotta admit tho, the shot I had a few nights ago while on shrooms made me look at coke a different way, it makes an excellent garnish to any drug, it's just not a good "main dish".

When i was younger i started with Ritalin, then moved to Concerta with ritalin (high dose), they prescribed me dex-amphetamine later (i did 6 x 10 mg a day).
Also done Wellbutrin for 2 months, started with 150 and upped to 450 mg a day.

From start to end i think i took daily stimulants for almost 10 years in a row.

And did MDMA and snortable amphetamines and some cocaine too.

It maybe sounds nice if you like stimulants, but when you're walking in my shoes it's a whole different story.

The last year i relapsed 3 times on heroin... i like sedation now way more then stimulating, while sedated i can focus and concentrate better then when i take stimulants.
No stimulants for me anymore.

I don't even drink coffee, gets me nauseous.

IV coke really is the devil.. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it in the future. It's the one drug/ROA that can take what would be thought as an absolutely brutal heroin addiction that couldn't get any worse... and make it worse.

It leaves you regretting your actions and all the dumb shit you said while tweaking, destroys your veins, wrecks your appetite and causes you to loose tons of weight, and after a while literally starts to make you psychotic.

My addiction to IV coke gets so fucked up and twisted, that I literally consider myself clean if I just can stop shooting coke and just be a straight heroin addict again... thats how screwed up it is.

I can see this getting out of control fast I have spent upwards of 800$ in the last couple of days. And either the coke is getting worse or my tolerance has shot through not only the roof but the stratosphere aswell... Any word on what makes like half a cup of saliva fill my mouth after a shot?

You will build up tolerance with cocaine... also your dealer maybe has is tactics.
Here it's not uncommon that you will get high grade stuff when your a new customer, after a while, you're getting less and less quality (they do this here with heroin and coke/crack).

It's very effective for dealers to invest in this tactic, they don't make a lot of money in the beginning, but when your hooked, you're literally hooked to them, and then the money is flowing.

I hear yah OP. I used to slam coke as well, and just like you, I wasn't big on snorting or smoking it.... but damn... injecting it was something else.... I was already doing heroin at the time, but the coke just brought me to my knees.

Ended up getting MRSA endocarditis from desperate injection practices. I always used fresh rigs with heroin. I could even wait overnight to to use if I didn't have any. But with coke, that became less important over time... It became impulsive, to the point where I was digging through my own dumpster to find rigs I had tossed because I couldn't wait to get fresh ones..... The worst I used was an 18 or 20 gauge butterfly needle attached to a threaded pick line that the nurse had used to administer the antibiotics (for the MRSA) that I attached to a 5cc saline flush syringe (this was temporarily used as my more permanent pick line had fallen out earlier that day). I had thrown it out and went through the apartment complex dumpster to find it... and it was dull. Took 30 min to get it in my vain. And I put a few grams of coke in the 5 cc syringe and left the needle in my arm for a few hours because I knew I wouldn't be able to get it back in.... so I just pushed in a little till I heard the train coming every 25 min or so. What a horrible and desperate night.


I usually advise people not to try injecting heroin because they may like it too much. Slamming coke is no question; some things are better not experienced. When I got clean for good (from the dope and coke at least), the cocaine cravings lasted almost a year, while the heroin cravings stopped after only a few months. And I never liked cocaine or uppers!

Not recommended. For real.

P.S. I know the cravings are a bitch...but they go away if you decide to stop slamming it. I promise you that. And yeah, I puked after half the shots I did. But it was strange... puking was very enjoyable.
And if you haven't overdosed already, it is not fun. It's very scary really. It's like getting run over by that "train" that normally is so cool and loud as it passes. Seizures are common.

Even to this day (I last used that crap ~4 years ago), if I think about it for too long I will get a gnarly craving for the coke. Heroin not so much. Those IV coke cravings just implant themselves in the memory like nothing else in this world.

Good luck man I've been there and though I will have a problem with opiates for the rest of my life I think I can say I am done with coke/crack there are only negative effects left due to years of abuse, So I'm guessing you will get through eventually if you aren't there already!

That's so funny Scagnattie but I feel the same...fuck, even my methadone clinic was celebrating during my physical that I had stopped shooting coke (though I piss dirty for heroin every week). It's true though, I've heard it from every IV user that's experienced it 'iv coke is evil'. God forbid one starts to speedball too... It took me so long to feel satisfied just shooting dope. But quitting IV coke is one of the things I'm most proud of- but to this day I dream of it. I always tell people that are newer to the world of IV drugs to avoid coke like the devil-it's annoying because at the same time I feel like I could just be planting the idea in their heads, or making them more curious. All I can say is, the rush might be incredible but it's not worth the devestating effects.

Hey Hippiehunter.. Hey i would start to battle this rite now.. Iv coke wrapped me up so so so so bad.. man things got really real, real bad, real quick8( with this method of administration the severe negative aspects of coke come at you full speed.. if you continue to use the good parts of the experience will disappear and be replaced with the worst hell.. and you still wont be able to stop.. If you are going to be like me and many others i know you will find yourself, after stopping once again about to shoot up, KNOWING WITH OUT A DOUBT THAT IN A COUPLE OF SECONDS YOU WILL BE SHOT INTO HELL AS IF ON A ROCKET AND WONDERING WHY YOU CANT STOP DOING SOMETHING THAT SENDS YOU TO HELL OVER AND OVER You will become more and more paranoid and eventually people can get to the point that they will take their first shot and instantly become so nuts that they are sure that the cops are outside the bathroom or whatever and actually flush their stash.. only to come s=down ten minutes latter with the biggest jones ever.. Try and pull out now.. find some help, I almost positive your going to need it.. hang in there.. If you start to see the shadow people, after you have taken apart all the lamps in the nouse to find the "cameras and listening devices" you are close to the end.. It only gets worse and i A hurry.. you just might be in the fight of your life and not know it yet.. Stay tuff, this could get ruff.

Agreed. Even during heroin withdrawal I spent half my time dreaming of that IV cocaine.

How long has it been zneg? My last shot of coke was almost 5 years ago and I have been craving-free for at least 2 years. Maybe 3. But damn... that fist year and a half.... I think I spent more than half my day each day the first 6 months dreaming about shooting some coke. Relentless.

Yeah it's been about 8 months now... It was weird the first two months were alright, not great but OK, as things had gotten so bad and my veins had become so destroyed. But then after 12 weeks the itch would return, and to this day it comes in phases. Some days I'll flip out because I'll crave it so bad, but I've been strong and haven't fallen yet. But 5 years, that's awesome man!
