So over the past for weeks (since the semester started) this one cute chick has been sitting beside me each lesson for this one particular unit (it's the only class we have together). These are smaller classes, with roughly 25 to 30 students attending. There were always plenty of other seats available, without anyone next to them, that she could sit on. However, she always seeks me out and sits next to me. Obviously, she doesn't dislike me. But I don't know if she actually likes me. We chit chat in class and she's really cool and down to earth. Do you think she likes me? It seems odd that every lesson we have, she'll sit next to me. How do I proceed? I don't want to scare her off.

Well she clearly likes you as a friend since she'd rather sit next to you than by herself. We can't really know if there's anything more to it though. Maybe you could pay attention to her body language, see if she acts differently around you than she does around other people, etc. Or just go for it and ask her out, I doubt it would 'scare her off', although obviously you've got to be ready to hear that she might not think of you in that way. Good luck!

University of Florida, eh? My dad works there. :) Go Gators!

If she seeks you out to sit next to you, I'd say she's giving you a sign. Ask her for her number and text message her at some point.

get to know her outside of class. ask her when class finishes if she wants to go for a cup of tea. everyone likes a cup of tea for social reasons so its the perfect cover to spend more time with her outside the learning environment.

as Pagey said- body language and eye contact. you just know when someone wants to jump your bones as opposed to be a friend and i had a friend who i was obsessed with for years and nothing ever happened so dont delude yourself in the face of contrary evidence and always listen to your gut.

lots of eye contact is always the easiest marker to go by. its how i been clocking all these train dudes of late...

It could mean just friends. I mean, I'd sit next to a familiar face rather than no one in a class. BUT - if you want more - you've got to ask her out - on a date, so outside of class.

Move it out of the classroom with something casual. Start off talking and figure out some common interests. Once she seems comfortable talking to you you can simply ask her as class is ending if she wants to go grab a coffee with you. This is not a date, so it won't scare her off.

Hahaha I love how incredibly English that sounded :D

I had the same problem in school. Turns out she just wanted to cheat off my tests and quizzes.

Same problem here. "Oh hey, what do you think you got on your C++ test?" Me: 100%. Then all the men wanted to copy off of me. Pfft.
Let girl cheat on programming tests...
Didn't care, was the king of the nerds cause the only girl in class sat next to me.

just say " hey, do you want to hang out later?"

This. Never ask for a date specifically unless it is some strange girl you feel compelled to ask who you will never see again. Asking just to hang out takes a lot of the pressure off the situation, while still making your intentions known. Don't use words like "date" or phrases like "come out" or "got out."

Better yet, align your walking with hers in the hallways after class and ask if she wants to get coffee or lunch or something.

Omg, so easy! Ask her if she has a break period after class and tell her you were thinking of getting coffee or whatever near by. Then, when mid-terms come up--ask her to study with you!!! :) Or since you guys are both students, ask her where she studies (she'll probably say starbucks or the library) and then you'll say, me too! And be like, when were you planning on studying next? We should study together. :3

OP, like others have already said, ask her out to lunch for a study date. Good luck!

PEOPLE IN COLLEGE DO NOT DATE ANYMORE. ITS ALL TIME WASTING HOOK UPS- with a healthy dose of contempt for the opposite sex thrown in.

Ask her something about her interest or something ,start conversation and you will see easy is she interested for more or not.
