I've been prescribed Targin (20mg ER Oxycodone combined with 10mg Naloxone) for extended pain relief, to be taken consistently with my Endone (5mg Oxycodone) to be used for breakthrough (instant) pain relief during acute, severe onset of pain. I have ran out of this script of Endone and am not due for another for 3 days and am experiencing some severe (Px 9-10) pain today. The Targin is not providing any pain relief at all! So I have two questions:
1. Can crushing the Targin tablet in to fine powder and drinking with a glass of water reduce the Extended Release component of the Oxycodone to provide effective pain relief?
2. Can crushing the Targin tablet and parachuting the fine powder reduce or eliminate the Extended Release mechanism to provide breakthrough effective pain relief?
2. Can I somehow CWE the Oxycodone from the Naloxone, or via some other extraction method (acetone?) to administer a higher dose of Oxycodone without the opioid blocking effect from the Naloxone?
Please provide responses ASAP. I am in tremendous pain right now. Unable to remove myself from bed, and psychologically distraught. Thank you.
