What Are You Listening To?.....v. Next Level Beats

Saw Verve blow Smashing Pumpkins away as support (before Verve became famous and THE useless Verve) and, just to alienate myself from you Shammy, Billy Corgan was the biggest ego I've ever had the misfortune to witness on a stage. And I've seen a few.

Still love Starla and Rhinoceros though.

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on :p

Although Verve pissed all over The Verve it's true. Pumpkins live performances can vary wildly depending on levels of wastedness. There are some shockers out there for sure. When they're on form though they are quite possibly my fave band of all time. Sometimes...

And when you can play gee-tar like Billy Corgan can I'll take note of the ego comment - if I could play like that I'd be the biggest prick on Earth :D

Starla and Rhinoceros are two of me fave tracks of theirs so not all is lost ;)

Tried to find a decent live version of Rhinoceros (before I saw your post actually) but the sound quality tends to be shitty on most of 'em so plumped for an early studio version instead...

Smashing Pumpkins - Rhinoceros (Reel Time Studio Sessions)

And cos you mentioned it too...

Smashing Pumpkins - Starla

Sound quality not as good as some versions but the vid is nice so am posting this one. The version I first heard recorded live in wherever the played in London in '92 was beyond orgasmic but would take longer to find.

Ooh 92 that was close. Was 93 I saw them in Brixton according to my googling.

Starla and Rhinoceros are classics, thx for posting those.

20th anniversary 8o yep made me feel old too. Yes I am going. Rock City 6th April. Cannot wait.
Ahh, 5th April here! I went to the 15th anniversary show as well so know what to expect, but yeah, should be good. :)

I have several of their shirts all with the same print on. Bloody things keep falling apart and are getting harder and harder to replace.
Ooh, the green smiley one is pretty rare, yeah. Has a good backprint if I remember correctly?

I used to email him all the time. He always responded with long thoughtful emails. I was shocked he even bothered. I'll en-devour not to meet him then if that is the case. Fallen idols and all that.
Wow, impressive! I met him on the Endless Nameless tour and he seemed a decent enough guy.. Though he comes across as more of a tosser these days, now that he posts a lot on Twitter. ;)

Pumpkins from beginning to ~'96 are just genius beyond imagination in my opinion. First three albums are all stone cold classics and some of those early(ish) live shows almost literally make me soil myself with excitement. Was really only into electronic stuff around that time and mostly had given up on "heavy" rock. When somebody gave me a bootleg of that '92 show I was utterly blown away though. Had never heard anything like it in me puff. Put Hendrix to shame some of those solos. Yes. Really. I did just say that. And meant it.

Just about the best quality live version I can find...

Smashing Pumpkins - Rhinoceros (live, Frankfurt '92)

I even forgive fretwanking when it's as good as that <3

One more Pumpkins tune for the road...

Smashing Pumpkins - The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right)

Had the box set... but not no more :(

Manchester based then. ;) Yeah I'm Nottinghamshire. Can't wait.

Yeah it was a rant at how shite Europe is if I remember correctly. I loved the one they produced for when they supported The Sex Pistols it said: 'Never mind the headliners here's the Wildhearts' =D Although Terrorvison had a great one from Reading one year that got kids arrested for wearing them said something like 'fuck your long hair and fuck your tent, hippy'

Burning down the house by The Cardigans ft Tom Jones.

Oh my, how did I miss this? Must have been on drugs that day. They only ruin it mostly a bit. Hahaha, weird. What would George Clinton do?

I know what Bennie Cowan would do. Get his lips round it and give it a good old blow.

Dope!

Well you knew I wasn't going to be back for fifteen mins once I'd clicked that link. I fucking <3 you Ben.

I regret being about four years too young to have seen the Mothership tour. They brought it to London, landed that damn spaceship at the Hammersmith Apollo I think. I have a female friend, lovely but straight as fuck, never done anything cool in her life EXCEPT she went to that gig at about 16 years old. Bitch.

I find QOTSA a bit hit and miss but the good stuff is fukkin great <3

Song you posted is pretty good... but the vid is better =D

This is gonna piss Pagey off immensely I suspect... but fukkit...

Trent Reznor & Karen O - Immigrant Song

Don't even think it's that great a version... but it's fukkin Trent Reznor so is by default <3

I never really got the industrial thing at the time. It took a while for me to get NIN. Is it right that he produces all his own stuff and records all the music himself?

Didn't get that massive album until ages after when the dust had settled, I got there eventually though:

NIN - Piggy

WHAT? I can't understand if you like it or not from your comment, but having listened to about eight seconds of it I have to inform you that it's horrible and I'm sorry I learned of its existence.

Hahahah. It's...different. It's okay. They could've done worse ;)

Toxicity - System of a Down

<3 SOAD <3

One of me fave tracks of theirs too as it happens :)

Me neither actually. Just never really listened to their stuff until long after it was massive. Never got around to it is all. Is pure class all the way though <3

And ya, one of those omni-artists who make ya sick with their talent. He also produced and played on a lot of Marilyn Manson's stuff so am fairly sure Sammy G ain't a fan ;)

NIN & Saul Williams - List of Demands (live @ Voodoo '05)

Another one Trent produced a load of stuff for. Niggy Tardust indeed... *titters*

Saul Williams - Twice the First Time

Not one of the Trent-produced albums. Fukkin incredible track though <3
