Newcomers - Cold Water Extraction: Method Do's & Don'ts

I always use more water than necessary, purely because I figure quite a bit of water gets saturated in the filter if kitchen roll is used(I use kitchen roll) and that water will contain some codeine too, so if I'm only using 10ml of water and 1ml of water normally gets stuck in the kitchen roll then that is 10% of your codeine, but if you use 100ml of water then it's only 1%.

I'm not sure entirely how logical my thoughts on this are, and if you use a better filter and equipment and do it patiently my dilemma about losing codeine in the water that gets saturated in the filter is pretty much irrelevant.
 
I usually squeeze the solution through an old shirt to rid the bulk as a time saver.

It allows the next solution to be filtered faster because pill binders and paracetamol tend to sink to the bottom - blocking up the kitchen towel.

Also remember to dampen your filter/kitchen towel prior to use. And if you wanna get into serious harm reduction + time saving, you can buy a suction pump setup & use laboratory filters.
 
Ok so how much paracetemal would usually be left if the water is mainly clear.
Theres sometimes clumps left in bottom of cup which wont dissolve and blobs on tissue.
I squeeze the tissue and sometimes white goes back in but I just refilter it.
How much water should I use for 15 tablets or would it be easier to do 2 separate filters at a time.
Would you be able to tell straight away if you took too much paracetemals ive had about 15 today filtered at 3 separate times.
I dont know if there were alot of clumps of paracetemal but the water was clear and I squeezed a bit of tissue and it went white then refiltered and it was clear again.
If I had took to much would of I felt stomach aches I remember taking 4 or 5 30/500 a year ago and that gave me a bad stomach ache but was fine after.

In theory if you do it properly then the only paracetamol left in the filtrate will be what is dissolved in the water - 1g per 100ml if the water is cold - but in practice a small but will always leach through the filter. Impossible to determine how much as everyone's technique will be slightly different unless you actually try to calculate it, and even then it's tricky as some fillers/binders will be soluble and some won't be..

15 tablets can easily be done in one go - I've done 64 before (although be very careful if you do this, it's a LOT of paracetamol if you fuck up!) I'd just use the minimum you need to dissolve them all without it being sludgy, as this will clog the filter. Cornish's idea of pre-filtering with an old shirt then filtering properly after is a good one to prevent clogging though.

There's a thread in the Other Drugs directory which suggests an amount per pill (can't remember off the top of my head) but I usually go by seeing how much is needed and using the minimum.

Mugzy that idea is logical :) but do bear in mind how much paracetamol you are dissolving.

TheHez, you may get stomach ache after too much paracetamol but this isn't common - usually ODs are symptomless until your liver is fucked, which is what makes them so dangerous. I wouldn't rely on this. Better to be confident that your technique is sound :)

I do remember checking if it was clear but just weary as I did use kitchen roll but I am confident as it took atleast 3-5mins to stop dripping with about 6-8pills.
Next time I do it I reckon I'm going to use a coffee filter so I don't para out about if I took too much lol.

A friend of mine must take about 10 a day pops about 5 at a time, I constantly say its the codeine whats the high not the paracetemal but never listens to me
 
Depends how much methadone you're on really, PinkP. If you're on a low dose of 'done I'd say it's probably feasible to switch to CWE. Would have to be a very low dose though unless you have access to fuckloads of co-cos daily. OTC co-co is only 8mg of codeine per pill (around 240mg per pack, I think). Buggered if I know how that would equivalate but probably not even equivalent to 10ml of meth. Although would probably not be too massive a drop. Methadone is horrid stuff though so probably wouldn't really consider trying it meself unless I had access to 30/500 co-cos on a regular basis or had enough chemists locallly and could be arsed to traipse from one to another to another to another to collect enough OTC co-cos. A script for DHC would be better - or even a script for straight codeine for that matter. Not that many docs seem to like doing that kinda thing these days :\

As for just being "better" I'd say it was. I actually get a nice lil buzz of codeine which I certainly never did off 'done. Doesn't hold you for as long though which would be a problem if trying to substitute for it.
 
i had a df script years ago. 4 a day. no they don't give them out anymore, its methadone or subutex all the way. What's the difference between dhc and codeine? It's hard to get codeine linctus too. I'm sure you could demand your chemist to order it in though. I might just wait a little while till my man switches on and just get my 1st choice opiate. Oh to have been around at the turn of the last century when you could buy heroin tincture at the pharmacist
 
Codeine is such a short hit...I don't see how anyone with a serious interest would be arsed, or have access to enough codeine, to keep doing CWE's. Maybe I'm just lucky or being snobbish because I get prescribed dhc from time to time.
 
Codeine actually lasts me all day. Don't feel I need a top-up for almost 24h usually. It's only really buzzy for the first few hours though, I suppose. Am not really using it recreationally as such though - is mainly medicinal and am scripted both codeine and co-codamol so only go in for CWEs when I run out of straight codeine pills. If I had enough I'd dose twice a day and moan less about me back but I don't so I don't so I don't.

PP: DHC is slighly stronger than codeine, far less itchy and doesn't have the supposed "ceiling effect" codeine does so is more suited for maintenance dosing. Or was when you could get it scripted for that purpose.

Wet the filter with plain water, then discard.

I concur. Was actually thinking that earlier by bizarre coincidence (shortly after reading the master of all paper post and having a wee reminsce about other recent corkers) but thought it might be seen as slightly vomitous to say it so glad you and Mugz did first. Turns out not to be vomitous at all. Is true though. Very few posts ever actually cause me to laugh out loud... but those that do have a high likelihood of being Jan's =D
 
Crikey, thanks! I should show this to my girlfriend who actually said not half an hour ago that 'being funny' was not something I am renowned for... Except that then she'd know my username and probably read recent posts wondering if I should marry her or saying she was being a dick.
