"Molly" is gaining popularity in the hip hop/EDM communities

That fuck molly rant was good at first, started out as harm reduction/awarness thing. But to say fuck it as a whole. Fuck you buddy, how hypocritical is it for some drunk guy to tell me how stupid I am for taking a different drug than him?

Rappers have always mentioned mdma for example biggie... "some say the x, make the sex better". But then a lot of genres of music do reference drugs including mdma, the amount for rappers is not particularly significant, it is proportional to extent that you would expect for a very popular recreational drug to be in a subculture where taking drugs is the norm. Anyway this conversation is and lets just agree to disagree.

Mainstream music is a reflection of popular culture. Molly has become part of popular culture hence you hear about it in rap music. Not sure why that is surprising to anyone really. When ecstacy was yet again popular in the 90's there were tons of rappers that sang it's praises, Puff Daddy, Nelly, Ja Rule.. the epitome of main stream pop music.

Also, i don't get why people are so fucking hung up about the name molly. In the 90's people in the US commonly refereed to powder MDMA as "Molecule", Molly is short for that. It's not anymore retarded of a name than Mandy or Lucy or Weed.

iv never ever heard of anyone call mdma molecule. and iv never heard anyone claim that molly was abbreviated from molecule. interesting

i thought molly was better than mdma like it was cooler or better or something. it must be cool if rappers are rapping bout it?

Don't worry I'm not afraid to be rude, I just don't like people thinking that I am being rude when I'm not intending to be, which happens too often in conversation. I come of like that apperently. Was recently accused of senselessly being rude when argueing with some religious people when I said that I personally think religious people are insane. I think it's a bat shit crazy retarded view of reality that should be treated with therapy, the polite way of putting that is insane. ^ with that it was an example that came to mind, I then realised it could be portrayed as purposefuly offensive so I tagged that disclaimer on at the end because fuck flame wars, especially with people I don't actually have anything against other than a disgreemant on how widespread the use of mdma is.

I never knew its called molly as in "molecule", and also never heard anyone call it molecule at that lol.

Again, looks like a lot of arguing over the genuine origins of it. But if you were there, then you know different from me :) I started taking MDMA when I was 16, am 21 now, so you've probably got a few years on me. And I'm also from England ;)
 
Hip hop is mostly what I listen to, and I can definitely agree that it is growing rapidly in the community. Honestly the MAJORITY (of new songs I have listened to lately) have some sort of reference to molly. There are whole songs dedicated to it.
