"Molly" is gaining popularity in the hip hop/EDM communities

Sure people do drugs to inspire them. But to say that even a significant amount of rappers specifically use mdma whilst they're recording is a stupid uprovable and more than likely false claim. Just because eminem and one other guy I've heard of said they did it does not mean that lots do. I don't think many other types of muscians do and I don't know why you'd think this percentage would be higher for rappers... If it was a claim like dubstep artists, I would be more inclined to believe that because you have to be fucked to even begin to enjoy dubstep.
Your last claim was pretty stupid... god at least end it on a strong note 8)

I gotta disagree to some extent. Trinidad is the main offender, other people are basically jumping on the band wagon. Mainstream rappers love to give trendy shoutouts, weather it be shoes or an intense mind altering substance (without any differentiation). I don't think it will gain a significant popularity boost. That song(pop a molly im sweatin who!!!) is more of a "macarina" or "gangnam style" than the celebration of the drug. Its trendy simple song or dance that everyone and their grandma can jump on. However not everyone and their grandma has access to MDMA. I cant think of something more dangerous than this tho. Imagine a kid who starts to do coke, because "COKE-NAM STYLE" was the new hit single. While were on the topic, Young money (lil wanye, drake, niki minaj) tried to come up with their own drug lingo (glitching) as apposed to rolling. Like that's so ridiculous, rolling is well established then they come up with something that sounds like being hi on meth or something. I think there getting bunk pills if they describe it as "Glitching" lol.

One thing I hate about mainstream rap is most rappers only rap about about Viagra. (Some are decent at describing weed) They only talk about how cool it makes them (how big their dick is) they never actually go into detail about what they feel. Other than like "feelin lit feeling good, girl suck my dick...you know you should!"

correct

prove it

you havnt heard much wrap have you
I don't think many other types of muscians do
i dont think you know...does this not directly contradict your first sentence?
because you have to be fucked to even begin to enjoy dubstep.
yay i agree with you :)

who the fuck is trinidad? iv never heard of him. you guys realise rap has been around since the 80s and so has mdma?

lol i think following a trend is pretty lame. ima call it 'rolling' cause its well established and everyone else does...fuck that

i agree main stream rap or whatever other genre is pretty lame. i always thought rappers rapped bout bitches, money, 40s, trees, ice,
a lot of rap is just product placement.

'to know where you are going it is important to know where you have come from'

Sorry to triple post but yeah its never really been that popular in hip hop. Some rappers have said it there and there, but non have been dedicated rapping about it (were talking mainstream top 40) its just kind of in their arsenal (never coming before weed and booze) Those who have arnt common names. X-zibit 36 mafia and the likes arnt big names. Wu tang are successful underground rappers (I know that must not makes sense, to some). The biggest rapper to talk about MDMA was Eminem, but It could never of had any impact. It was just all to surreal to really influence kids. Like purple pills (hills) is just about ridiculous drug amounts of drug use, it seems more about pissing parents off than the actual drugs. I mean his young fans taking said purple pills was about as realistic as them killing and raping there mom. Its always just been about throwing a name out there to sound edgy, rather than a celebration/defamation of its effects and culture IMO. No mainstream rapper anytime soon will actually make that leap. For this reason I don't think its going to gain popularity, or really has for that matter.

A lot = significant amount. I think it's generally accepted that that's not just ones and twos. So yea...

But I'm not one to really argue in a setting like this. It's pointless :)

Man this thread went no where fast lol. Yes rappers been doing xtc forever so has everyone else. Now major mainstream rappers say molly in most songs instead of less known rappers talking about rolling and beans. There has Deffinatly been a change and think it Deffinatly has changed the market as well most people in the "hip hop scene prolly can sell baking powder caps before a pressed pill because of molly popularity of course this is a hypothesis

sorry what are you saying?

do people really buy drugs because a rapper raps about them?

Okami & northernlight need to learn to read before attacking others on bl. If someone say A LOT of people need to learn to read before attacking others on bl they do NOT MEAN EVERYONE

A lot means a significant amount. Obviously it doesn't mean everyone.

most of these idiots probably wont get mdma anyways theyll be ingesting whatever and thinkin theyre all cool doin 'molly'.Rappers talked about rolling and ecstasy but i've also noticed every rap song has molly in it now, just take satisfaction in knowing youve had the real thing and appreciate it for what it is.

^This is so true. Unfortunately, the rappers aren't too concerened about harm reduction because it doesn't sell their music. Too bad some of them don't step up and start talking about test kits and responsible dosing.

Yea it could be like " when in the club and wanna do drugs make sure you test that shit first said what make sure you test that shit first"

I could of used a better word but then again I still will say a lot off rappers do... not everyone though and I'm not even saying nearly every rapper. I just been listening to rap music since I was in the womb... my parents listened to it all the time. My dad even secretly got my sister and I a copy of that get rich or die tryin cd by 50 cent.... I had no idea what x (how he says it in the song) was or anything. I heard so many rap songs abouy people usimg ecstasy and the rappers themselves.... a lot of bay rapper use e and I'm not just talking mac dre... trinidad jame made ahit song but he wasn't the only one who did... the line is just super catchy and I know tons of kids who say it but never would do ecstasy in their life and a lot still are like wtf is a molly?

I listen to a lot of rap.. and it isn't odd for me that rappers take ecstasy. Just because one doesn't like rap doesn't mean that these rappers don't know what mdma actually is... and trinidads song probably didn't even blow up for the molly thing at first. It was just those stupid gold lines... gold all up in my necklace... gold all up in blah blah blah.. the song is just super catchy and a club hit. Kids arent going to now go popping molly because of a song and if they do, they probably would of eventually anyways.

And no I do not like a lot of mainstteam bull.... I'm into 90s rap and underround music... not trinidad james or lil wayne.

Somr of you act like ecstasy has never ben in a mainstrram song before.... yeah molly is really just popping up more but its just a different word for the same drug.

I think the word molly is just used more now because the actual drug is more prevalent- as opposed to a decade ago when pills were way more popular.
At least, from what I witness. I just recall back in like 2000, 2001 is was tough trying to find shards or powder- and now it's the opposite.

i feel like some rappers with street ties try to boost sales of shit like molly by rapping about it
demand grows and the gang makes money off it

JUST SO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU PPL GETTING INTO: It's a drug that has cocaine, crack, excasty & bathe salt all in one. It stops your heart rate, pop one or 2 it damages your brain without you realizing it. It becomes an addiction & soon a cry for help. It weakens your immune system & destroys your organs. Increasing chances of a heart attack or failure for your lungs. It is a serious drug & dangerous. More powerful then CRACK itself. :] SO YEAH

This is what molly is according to the commenters on one such rap video. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.

even if they did rap about MDMA in new shit it still isnt nearly as good as older rap music.

Id rather roll and listen to classic rap with no references to "molly" then hear the new mainstream shit

No... It's on the person who made the original claim to prove their statement, not mine to disprove it. Just like athiests don't have to disprove god, but rather it's religious people have to prove he exists. I can make the claim that you have sex with your pet dog. Disprove it or its true! Document every hour of your day to prove that you don't otherwise I'm right(I don't mean to be offesnive and inflamatory for no reason but it's a pretty good example at highlighting my point).

Rappers have always mentioned mdma for example biggie... "some say the x, make the sex better". But then a lot of genres of music do reference drugs including mdma, the amount for rappers is not particularly significant, it is proportional to extent that you would expect for a very popular recreational drug to be in a subculture where taking drugs is the norm. Anyway this conversation is and lets just agree to disagree.
