Oi you rascals, we have a music sharing thread already :sus:

How is everybody tonight? Just spent an afternoon looking around the National Gallery...Still got very bored very quickly despite being generally interested in arty stuff. There's only so many paintings of baby Jesus, dying Jesus and dead Jesus you can see before you start craving for a bit of dissected shark-in-a-tank.

Knicky knocky knoo.

EDIT: Sounds rather nice actually, Albi. Always did enjoy a day at the gallery. Even the Baby Jeebuz infested ones. Went to the Modern Art one in Glasgow with an EADDer a while back. Was well disappointed. Had fuck all in there and what was there was an embarrassment. Felt a tit for making her take me. Absolute shitehouse so it was :\

Urgh dunno what this stuff is, feel all jiggly and tingly cold n my jaw is going. very wavey as well. might head up pub in a bit if i can be assed to move

To be fair, the bits that didn't feature Jesus were more interesting...They have the Haywain, a huge Stubbs horse, and lots of pretty Turner sunsets and boatwrecks to name a few.

Also featured a temporary exhibition in the canteen entirely consisting of sketches of paintings in the main gallery by Frank Auerbach...Who is my all-time favourite painter, ever, which was absolutely awesome.

Frank's paintings and drawings are totally mental...His paintings have about an inch of solidified paint protruding from their canvases sometimes...Stuff like this:

Check out his studio =D

He's very old now, but living in a small flat somewhere in Camden. I sincerely hope I see him before he dies.

My wife thinks I'm an uncultured thicko cos I don't like the National Gallery.

I like art galleries, but the National Gallery bores me to tears.

EDIT>>>>shit, I DO like Frank Auerbach, a lot, wife got me into his work, she likes to slap on layers and layers of paint too.

Also liking that Frank fellas stuff, Albi. Never heard of him before. Studio ain't half as caked as some I've seen but guessing that was taken some time ago so will have "matured" since then :D

Have only been to the National once as far as I recall. Maybe twice. But many years ago. Is that the one that bought Van Gogh's Sunflowers? Cos I remember the one I went to had recently bought it and it was on display as soon as you got in pretty much. Don't remember many other specifics cos I wasn't really all that up on arty stuff at the time. Sure it must've been a school trip or summat. Was a fair ol' while back.

Yup, they nabbed the Sunflowers.

Then that was the one I went to. Sunflowers was probably the only painting I knew by name at the time cos it was all over the news. Quite liked art as a concept but knew nowt 'bout it. Recognised plenty pics but wouldn't be able to name 'em even now really. Lots of Jeebuz stuff though - I remember there was plenty of that :D
