Alot of the time I find it very hard to maintain an interest in life without the aid of some sort of drug. Intoxication is something that has to be accomplished in order for me to get on with whatever it is that i have to do and even the things i genuinely enjoy doing have become secondary to getting high. Im not saying that all I want to do with myself is get high and sit around all day, that couldnt be further from the truth. Its just that after a certain period of being sober, even if Im enjoying what Im doing, I will begin to feel uneasy and anxious about not being intoxicated. I just dont feel right when Im sober and would rather have that increased interest in life and that extra spark of creativity that comes with being stoned.

Although I enjoy the stoned headspace, I really do not like the physical effects that come along with it and find that the sluggishness that weed produces actually hinders me from doing the tasks that getting stoned gives me the motivation to do.

Does anyone have any tips for me on how to maintian yourself as a daily smoker and still have the energy to function normally?

I know a huge factor in the past has been dose and Ive found a few hits out of a one hitter or a tiny joint is good to get myself going, but the inevitable burnout still comes on all too quickly and I soon become useless again.

Green tea.

None of the anxiety and jitters that coffee can bring on. This has to do with both the smaller amount of caffeine plus the antioxidants and chemicals in it that help calm you down.

Helps me focus, too. And get shit done.

If possible, buy more sativa dominant strains over indicas.

The only thing that could increase your energy level besides more drugs/stimulants or less depressant/weed consumption would be living a more healthy life in general. Eat healthier foods, take a vitamin/supplement, get more sleep at night, etc.

Sativa dominant strains for what it's worth, and maybe try adding small amounts of caffeine. Also take a couple hits every couple of hours to re-up your dose and avoid the sleepy burnout.

Take up supermarket hunting.

Late at night walk to the supermarket and pick up some of the cheap bargains.

do it daily and you will be active and save a lot of money.

If you want more energy try getting into the habit of working out and having a healthy diet. Both combined will definitely boost your energy throughout the day.

It's what I do anyways (or did actually, can't workout now due to my broken foot) and I found I was also a lot happier in general.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Ive heard about switching to sativa strains before, but that isnt really an option for me becuase the people I buy off of dont really know the difference...
I can get some pretty high quality indicas, but no sativa unfortunately.
I guess Im just going to have to live healthier...damnit =p

...and as Dr. Rabid said, keep re-upping! I won't smoke during the day if I know that I'm going to be going somewhere that I can't smoke anymore because it'll make me drowsy and antisocial. However, if I have the day to myself and can smoke whenever I want, doing it during the day is perfectly fine.

I usually stick to sativas during the day, because they tend to make you more awake than drowsy. But as long as I keep a constant high going throughout work and ect, I tend to feel just fine. Once the high goes down thats when I get tired and hungry.

1) DON'T wake and bake. Lots of fun yes. Productive, no :).
2) Force yourself to do some sports/activities when you get up.
3) Reward yourself with a relaxing spliff !

Try not to smoke before 2 or 3pm each day. Sometimes try to hold off until a little later. That should help.
But if you smoke from the second you wake up till you fall asleep like i have at times, I would recommend coffee. People always say coffee is bad for you but its been shown in many studies and is well known amongst knowledgable nutritionists that 1-3 (and for some people even 5 cups) cups of coffee a day is associated with a reduced risk of heart disease. Also, caffeine will help reduce your sluggishness.
I do not know if you have a work schedule but a small, 20-30 minute nap in the middle of the day can seriously help reduce your sluggish feeling.

Should have mentioned, a healthier diet with less red meat, more Green Leafy Vegetables, fruits, healthy fats (omega-3s from salmon, free-range chicken, etc.) would also help give you more energy

I think this whole sativa or indica stuff is bullshit, i'll smoke whatever and still get stuff done.

It's all in your state of mind, thought the fact that its been seen for such a long time as amotivational certainly helps people perceive it as such.

For me personally its a lot like getting into the pool on a cloudy day, its cold before but once you're inside and you're used to it you can handle it just fine. As long as I manage to get out of my door I'll just flow along with it and have a great day, and be perfectly motivated, sometimes actually even more than I would be sober.

I mean if you do feel overwhelming tiredness from it that's something else but that goes away easily with a little tolerance.

# 15 gets it...
OP...Your # 9 post about your merchant/whoever, about not knowing the difference between sativas & indicas is so sad & so true..
This dealer/hoarder dude I see every once in a while has an excellent Michoacan connection (100% fresh sativa) and he moans & complains about the seeds & stems (it's not even "trash compacted") which is great for Johnny Appleseed ! He trades me a Q.P. for a half oz. of some dank (sunk in yer' chair till ya' stank) indica which comes out at about the same price as 3 oz's of the the fresh yummy Michoacan...bright red & orange trichomes throughout the buds,
Just a tray for the rolling off of the seeds & a few thick stems to pluck out here & there and I have month's (plural) supply of some above average sweet fresh sativa. I dont understand his logic, especially when his half oz of dicka' is gone in 3 days

Why not try rewarding yourself with pot?

Wait until after you work out or what not to smoke a joint, any stoner will be more than motivated to work out in a situation like that. I find the high always feels that much better after a productive activity as well.

Works for me, but everyone's different I suppose. Why not give it a try?

I had the same problem some time ago when I pretty much smoked all day every day and while things like switching strains or adding you favorite stim or supplement can help, for me though I had to change a bit more to make everything work. It was pretty simple really, I started only smoking at night except for special occasions or whenever I got a bad migraine. I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but I thought the same way, I'll still admit I prefer life with a few tokes in me, but productivity comes with the cost of moderation as everything in life does. After a week or so of adjustment(I had definately develeped a minor dependancy) I actually didn't mind being sober as long as I kept myself occupied and by doing so am making a lot more progress towards the life I want. But maybe you're different, it all depends on what you want to do in life but for me I couldn't manage it. Whatever you do, best of luck to you.

Like people said, reward yourself with pot, and not smoke in the morning. I know it's hard to do that, and it;s even hard to find motivation in the mornings, but I also agree with others about eating healthy and exercising and taking vitamins.

Just have to find the motivation to do all that, hah :/

There's some great suggestions in here, I've been suffering from the same problem actually, and not even coffee helps me anymore because of opiate addiction.

Good luck!

I find that if I smoke first and then try to get active or go about my day, I have a hard time getting my motor running. However if I start doing something active (make a list of errands and go do them, wash my car, go for a bike ride, sports, meet a friend for coffee, write a business plan, etc) and then smoke after getting out of the house, I am way less lethargic. For me it's about switching up my routine and not getting into a rut and staying active.

Ultimately smoking in evenings after responsibilities are done with also helps.

Green tea has proven to be a good way to keep me going, thanks to whoever told me about that..
What Ive found most helpful though is going into each high with a plan. I figure if Im doing this to get into the right state of mind and be more motivated, I really have to figure out exactly what it is that I have to get done. I bought a white board to put in my room and started making lists of everything I want to get done and cross stuff off the list as I complete it. Ive found this to be a good way to keep on track when Im stoned and working- so that I have a visual reminder of the point of it all.
