Can't remember the fellas name (Childress?) but that tubby one with the really, really, really whiny, nasal voice annoys the fuck outta me. Doesn't matter how ridiculous the topic is he's written at least one book on it. He turns up on every single one of these "paranormal/spiritual" kinda things. One of those topics that require zero credentials or actual knowledge to become a bestselling author on though, I suppose.

That would be Von Daniken probably, the author of Chariots of the Gods, he served time for financial fraud in Switzerland before he became an author, his book is actually quite decent, he draws a lot from Sitchin, the latter is much more eloquent though, some of his books are pretty decent.
I reckon it depends what type of mindset you have, for me a lot of those theories don't seem far fetched at all.

Nah, Not von Daniken. Have read some of his books and enjoyed 'em. Don't believe a word of it but a great read. It's not so much that the theories are far-fetched as that they make no sense and have absolutely zero evidence behind them. It's pure speculation combined with wilful ignorance of actual evidence that contradicts their speculations. If you only ever read the "pro" side they make it seem like all the stuff they get so excited about is a complete unexplainable mystery when just about all of it is very well understood and well-researched. Impressive feats of architecture and engineering indeed, but a long way from being unexplainable.
The genetic manipulation stuff has precisely no evidence to back it up. It's no different from making up any random crap and calling it a theory.

those kinda books/docs and have done all my life. It's just that it also good to be aware of quite how much fibbing goes into shoehorning data to fit a preconceived moneyspinning notion.

This happens in every field though, even mainstream scientific research, the amount of studies being made on specific topics only to generate controversy and more grants
I have no doubt that it goes on in "proper" research too, Kenny. But not all of it which would be the difference between "proper" research and ancient aliens "research"

Not true at all. All I did was point out that your understanding of it was incredibly wrong. "When Scotland get kicked out" as oppose to "When Scotland decide to leave or not". I also said that I don't know where I stand on the issue, I don't know if I want Scotland to leave or not, I'd need to look into it more, ie understand it fully, something you should maybe do. Then again, you've made it quite obvious that you're not the brightest.
