For anyone in the Boston / MA area. This happened a few weeks ago but it's caused some problems around the way.

"A Chelsea man is in custody and could face deportation after state and Boston cops, working on a tip in East Boston, found him trying to stuff two bags filled with nearly 43 pounds of heroin, worth about $5 million, into a secret compartment of a minivan, authorities say.

Miguel Antonio Rivera, 35, was ordered held on $200,000 cash bail following his arraignment today in East Boston District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of trafficking in more than 200 grams of heroin near a playground.

Sporting three fake IDs at the time of his Halloween arrest, including a Puerto Rico driver’s license and BJ’s store card with another man’s name, Rivera was also ordered to surrender his passport, authorities said. Rivera is in the country illegally, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have filed a detainer against him, meaning if he somehow posts bail, he’d likely be placed into their custody.

The driver of the minivan, 49-year-old Santa Cruz of Norwalk, Conn., is expected to be arraigned tomorrow or at a later date on charges of possession with the intent to distribute a Class A substance, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. It’s unclear if she is currently being held.

“This seizure takes about $5 million worth of heroin off of Boston’s streets, but there’s no doubt that it would have been sold and distributed well beyond city limits,” Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said in statement.

According to prosecutors, Boston police were doing surveillance on Sumner Street yesterday when they saw a black minivan with Maryland plates parked on the wrong side of the road and then make an illegal turn after picking up Rivera.

When a pair of state troopers stopped it, Rivera refused to get out and instead tried hiding a duffel bag inside one of the vehicle’s compartments before the troopers pulled him from the van, police said.

Inside, police said they found 15 individual bricks of heroin wrapped in tinfoil, weighing just under 43 pounds. On Rivera, officers also found the fake IDs, $623 in cash and in speaking with ICE, determined he was in the country illegally, according to a police report.

When reached by phone, Rivera’s lawyer declined comment this afternoon.

Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis said the arrests send a “powerful message” to the city’s drug peddlers that police will “find you and lock you up.”

That can't happen soon enough. This effected my people and their shit was consistently fire. Everyone else that's around and has shit is holding weak product right now.

Hmm...Maryland license plates dammit that has me worried about how the product will suffer here in B-more. I'm guessing he already dropped off product here in Maryland and was working his way up the coast but who knows it could be the other way around :\.

If you're carrying that much heroin you really gotta drive alot more carefully and not break ANY driving laws or police will stop you especially if you have out of state license plates and aren't white.

it says that the lady driving the care is to be arraigned tomorrow

how the hell does that happen if this happened on halloween

i thought you had to be arraigned within 24 hours or at the earliest possible convenience

thats over 2 weeks, thats bullshit, was she being held in holding the whole time?

that doesnt make sense 15 bricks but it weighed just under 43 pounds..so thats each brick was bein weighed out to 2.8-2.9 pounds...someones scale was way off bccause brocks are only supposed to be 2.2lbs

also i dont know how you can get 5mil off of 43 pounds..that works out to be like 260$ a gram...thats damn near impossible to cut the product enough to stretch it out to that...if ity was 100%pure dope you might be able to but thats about it..otherwise afte you cut it the shit would just be off and no one would buy it

EHIT...then again i forgot east coast bags are way smaller then bags here in chicago so actually that might work out..forget what i said above

Police estimations are almost always extremely far off from the actual market value.

someone just lost a shitload of money

i'd be more scared of the crime lord (or what have you) punishing me for losing his stuff than the law

Yeah. they always over-estimate the "street price"...

But, in the places these drugs are actually manufactured into kilos, they never end up being exactly 2.2. They're dealing with so much material, they just estimate...you may get one a few ounces over or a few ounces short...

wow, im guessing they are talking actual kilo bricks and not "bricks" like the ones wrapped in porn mags made up of stamp bags. if it had MD tags on it i bet that shit was on its way back down here with stops along the way. there are going to be a ton unhappy ppl over this one, and one or two PISSED suppliers. God what i wouldnt give for just one of those bricks. i bet it was barely cut too, could have been as high as 80%+ purity.

...in more than 200 grams of heroin near a playground.

Christ, those playschool kids sure do enjoy their H!

Is there actually a law saying drugs + playground = more punishment, or is it just a useless piece of information?

^ There is for a school zone, which most playgrounds are found on.

where i live its double the penalty, no shit! a lot of states have the law in place for schools. whenever i had to meet my guy by a school i would get xtra pissed off and paranoid.

Do the police really destroy the drugs they confiscate? I wonder what happens to it all. If they re-sell it, etc.
