2012 - 2013 Football Thread

Unless as a kid you went to pre taylor report footy grounds .

You will never no .....

Can you imagine football being unfashionable ?

Remarkably this was only 25 years ago .

Oh n sky was just that the sky .

LOL at the Sky comment.

And yes, I do remember football being unfashionable. And not just with the media, but with those who got their opinions from the media (ie most people).

I remember going to see Arsenal v Aston Villa (finished 5-0) in 1991 and being ripped by the trendies for going to a match. Same trendies who now go because they think if you pay £40 for a ticket then that makes it real and proper.

happy with the 3pts yesterday, yes UTD got lucky with the off side goal but the red cards were correct. before the end of the season somebody will score an off side goal against UTD and we will have players sent off.

to quote every body " it's a funny old game and swings n round abouts plus 6 of one and have a dozen of the other"

the best thing about yesterday was 3rd goal for Liverpool being ruled off side =D

I think the best thing in the Footy World atm is Edgar Davids in his new role as Player/Coach/Bus Driver/Cook/Steward etc at Barnet.

That is worth shouting about .

3 games unbeaten and 3 clean sheets since he arrived.

Anyone remember, UTD are skint, we are so far in debt, remember? How could we even afford it.

If you want to go into "corruption" and whatever else why does Man Citys £400m inflated deal, in which the owner paid his own company to bypass the FFP rules? Infact where even are the rules, money talks and chelsea, city et al where are concerned it seems no one cares.

United are not skint. They're valued at over $2bn. There's a big difference in being skint, to having owners who bleed the club and the fans dry to line their own filthy pockets. United are currently lining up a £750m kit deal with Nike so you can't really have a go at City and Chelsea about the FFP rules.

I know Torres went down like he'd been shot but Evans CLEARLY kicked him in the shin. I don't see how he deserved to get a second yellow for it. Why does it have to be yellow every time someone falls down now? Valencia didn't deserve a yellow for his "dive".

United fans should know all about players making a meal of tackles and going down too easy now that Ashley Young is back. He is by far one of the worst in the league. Like Bale and Suarez. Got pens and players sent off in games last year.

I hope it turns out Clattenburg did call Mata a Spanish twat or whatever else he said. The sooner his ref license is revoked the better 'cos the guy is a disgrace. His chummy, pally, let's be mates with the players style is fucking ridiculous, not to mention the amount of mistakes he makes. He is a bad, bad referee. Why do people think he's good? More than likely his assistant buddies will deny it all. The 4th official looked like he was ready to shit his pants when Ferguson and Di Matteo were giving out to him.

Police to invstigate the Twattenberg incident now.

"Now, the Society of Black Lawyers have asked the police to begin a criminal investigation to determine if the language used was racially offensive.

A statement from the organisation read: "The Society of Black Lawyers wishes to record the incident that took place at Chelsea FC.

"Our information is that racist remarks were directed at John Mikel Obi and at Juan Mata. If so, that is wholly unacceptable in any circumstances.

"Although this matter may be investigated by the FA, it is appropriate that the MPS independently see if a racially-aggravated offence has occurred."

lol
Kudo's to the spineless FA who opened this massive can of worms with their witchunt of JT , even after he was cleared in a court of law.
Now if they dont do the same with Twattenberg they will look like even bigger hypocrites than they are.

So a 4 match ban for clattenburg then? That should see fit, John Terry only got a 4 game ban, no one should be calling for his head though. I mean if he is found guilty, he wont officiate again will he? Its ok for terry to continue playing though, clatternburg will lose his job.

Terry called Anton a "Black cunt", he admitted it in this "court of law" that, that is what he said. Hes not a racist though, Clattenburg has allegedly called Mata a "Spanish Cunt", Racist, ban him.

The witch-hunt by the FA was because they are so embarrassed about terry, wife shagger, racist whatever, or as chelsea call him "Captain, Leader, Legend". All chelsea fans booing rio and evra, classy chavs.

The whole race issue should be left alone, British society seems to be really losing itself up its collective arse with politically correct bullshit. The FA should have never investigated Suarez nor Terry and in this case Clattenburg. It's grown men calling each other names, big deal.

shocking that bitter chelsea fans are still moaning
conspiracy? lol i am embarrassed as a football fan that people think a bad days decisions by the officials means that fergie has been paying the FA for favorable decisions for the last few decades, laughable really.. but i guess we all need to find an excuse in times like these.
wonder who fergie paid off to put the banana skin under john terrys foot in the 2008 champions league final

lol

^^THIS! Political correctness in this country has gone totally overboard in all walks of life.

I actually sillily although maybe very wisely made a £10 3 match accumulator on tonights matches. I need Leeds to beat Southampton, Arsenal to beat Reading, and for the Sunderland vs Middlesbrough game to be a draw and I'll take home £150 from the tenner!!

If you happen to win then great Mugz, but why does it seem that you are always looking for ways to get money out of your pocket?
Do you have something against saving it cos once you are on the dole mate you are gonna need it.
I lost my job a few months back and I suddenly went from taking home £370 a week and now I get £140 a fortnight. Its not much fun and I'm finding it a real struggle to survive on this pittance.

I dunno, I'm addicted to self destruction, gambling and spending money on useless things, I'm tempted to go out and try and buy some shades to help with the poker later/

Mugz, sorry to say this, but you're a fucking joke.

You're not trying to sort yourself out at all, you're just using your Dad's place as a cheap base to continue this attention-seeking behaviour. :(

I've heard that line before MM, and a lot of the time it's been true. I've managed to do some really productive things today though, sorting out a dentist to fix my tooth, getting a doctors surgery down here who will give me an emergency appointment tomorrow and I've paid my dad back most of his money. If I can't afford to pay it all back this month I will have it for sure on the 25th.

Anyway this is the football thread. I'm trying to make amends but I have issues that sometimes control me more than I can control them. Please let me do this my own way and if I fail again then feel free to say "I told you so" but if I start getting better and end this charade then please respect that and let it go.

I'll be the first to congratulate you when you get yourself sorted Mugz :)

C'mon THe Robins .

Swindon under the managementof Di Canio has been excellent he is passionate & very cool it has certainly given the club a huge boost in the media as well. One of the reasons is their good cup form i saw them twice last year in the cup despatching of Wigan & Bristol City.

What d0 y'all rekon he has a chance tonight against Villa at home ?

I really hope they do it Di Canio will go crazy if they win . He is pure Gold on the touch line .

Some good games on tonight. Villa have been miserable lately too but had 2 good results in this cup so far, like Swindon have. I see Villa have put out a strong side. Paulo's been looking forward to this one though.

I'd love to watch it and watch Di Canio's side win. Swindon's James Collins who scored a hat trick v Stoke is ex-Villa too.
