What are you drinking? - "Someone is bringing you ice?"

pfft, no belgian ale should be served at less than 48 degrees c :)

to have it "cold" defeats the purpose, you wont even taste it that way
I drank westmalle dubbell and Leffe Brune at about 11 degrees last week (52f) and it tasted fantastic
oh lawdy. you and beer. you'll get the hang of it one day, I have faith ;)

the only major question in my mind atm TLM, is what do you do for a living? I think I really need to know at this point <3

Mugz why are you paying over the odds to have booze delivered when there must still be shops open.

There's even shops open down here still.

The walk will do you good.

TLM I don't for a minute believe that you set your fridge to a different temperature every time you buy a different beer. i've heard of you getting some to 5degs, some to 9 degs, fuck knows, even you can't be that anal?

I don't realy like cold beer, but I don't generally drink lagers either. I can manage cider cold.

Spade.. Leffe is a mighty fine drink , the Brune is way better than the Blonde though. But dont diss it, its probabaly the best beer you can get in major supermarkets

Marmalade you sound like one of those who think all beer should be served ice cold, like those marketing legends who say Guinness should be "ice cold" when a decent stout should be served at about 13c , and by a decent stout i mean something like "Avery out of sight" not the rubbish they serve in pubs.

Its like the people who drink Augustiner ice cold in bottles at pubs when everyone else in Germany would give you a good slap if you served a German Pils at less than 9 degrees, how else can you taste the wonderful Hallertau hops if your beer is ice cold?

As for what I do for a living, we covered that in the Warez fashion thread, will just say its not a well regarded job thesedays , probably just below Abattoir worker :)

Then don't put it in the bloody fridge unless the atmosphere's warm and you really have to!

Room temperature (as in average spring / autumn UK temperatures) works fine for most Belgian beers. There are folk who use thermometers and all that, but I wouldn't know because I don't really drink with those kind of people if I can help it, y'know what I mean?

On the Young's Chocolate Stout. I'd rather it were Bourbon County, but Tesco neither stock it nor sell it at a price appealing enough to make a wholly-unnecessary beer purchase which I'll regret tomorrow.

I dont set my fridge. its a well known fact that a bottle will go down like 10f each 25-30 mins out the fridge, therefore you buy a couple of leffe from cornershop where they have it at 4c(39c) and within that timeframe or so its gone from 39 c to about 49 which is 10c or 50 f

Simples

Edit- not anal, I actually read all this shit about taking your beers out of the fridge and timing it on the sheperd neame website on the bishops finger ale page

Doesn't stop it smelling like stale tramps piss.

All this fucking about with beer to get it to exact temperatures, bollocks to that. Put in the fridge until cold enough, drink. Who doesn't like cold beer MM and cider definitely tastes better and more refreshing cold, I don't care what anyone says.

Mugz you can get beer delivered to your door by dial a booze type companies cheaper than you can buy it in the shops?

In a word, yes

edit - in another few words I can see why your quoting technique can be easier SOMETIMES but it isn't the way that people should do all quotes.

Plus delivery charge or not? There aren't ANY dial a booze companies around here as far as I know, no one I know has heard of any.

I'm not probably anything.

I take my Old Tom at room temp (like my chocolate), and my blondes colder.

I'm seriously disappointed you're not a chatshow host btw. You should at least be in the business of giving Lifestyle advice for money. I think you've got the makings of being a star tbh ;p <3

Unbelievable price for a cornershop - I want your shop! :)

There's a fantastic wine merchant's place a short walk away which does everything you'd ever want, more or less. Trouble is they charge whatever they can get away with.

The good thing is that they'll sometimes put a bottle-conditioned beer on offer because it's 'past its sell-by date' and seem ignorant to the fact that it's a plus for 90% of BCAs. Unfortunately a certain member of staff who favours the hop over the grape gets first dibs.

My cornershop is great,I think it was voted the best indie offie in London for the last couple of years.

Can get bottles of Budvar Dark for £1.39, fucking amazing original bohemian beer
Brilliant price for a london shop, got a couple in the fridge ( at the right temp) so might have a couple in the 2nd half of the Shakhtar Game
