I'm going to have to watch it again as plenty of people have recommended it. Was years ago I watched it and I probably didn't 'get' fucked up Asian films at that point.

It was one of the first foreign films I remember watching. A boy I worked with was always banging on about City of God, Battle Royal and Itchi The Killer. I remembered seeing City of God on Jonathan Ross Film Night and it looked decent so I bought that, ended up being one of my fave films of all time. Loved Battle Royal too but didn't like Itchi The Killer because it seems too weird and pointless. It probably is weird and pointless but doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

Reindeerspotting was pretty sick viewing really. Worth a watch to see how unfortunate they are to be born in that area of Finland, that's about it though.

I'm downloading Mesrine 1&2 now. Cocaine Cowboys is a good one Dan if you've not seen it, both of them are really good, about the 1970's drug trade in America.

Got Che 1&2 on the downloads too. Still have to watch Lucky Number Slevin and The Devils Double (about Hussain's son).

any iain m banks science fiction for best audio books, tellin ya! Takes you somewhere else. Off topic though.

Cheers for the tips from this thread. Browsed it many times a week! Watch a film almost daily if I can.
Is itchi the killer worth a watch or does the violence defeat itself and wear it out?

I really enjoy Iain Banks plain fiction but I can't read his sci-fi, and I'm a fan of sci-fi. I find his language is too pompous in the sci-fi.

Still to start properly watching this fucking japanese horror, keep getting distracted by BL and munchies.

Cocaine Cowboys 2 is a total cash-in piece of shite. The first one is great though. Documentaries though, not movies.

Yeah the second one isn't as good, it's not got the glory of the Miami one. It's still decent though.

backroll - watch it. dont know wtf crackheads on about. aint that bad, funny more than anything

Are you talking about Cocaine Cowboys 2? It's not funny, it's just pish.

This from IMDB is pretty spot on.

"Cocaine Cowboys II was disappointing. If you watched any documentaries about the Miami cocaine wars you'll see the same tired recycled stock footage and photos. The story of Griselda Blanco is interesting. She was drug kingpin that is attributed to over 200 hundred murders"

"If you've never heard of Griselda Blanco then this DVD could be worth a rent. If you watched other documentaries on the Miami drug trade this one will be a snoozer."

So, I'd agree with that. Possibly worth a watch just for the story of that crazy bitch Griselda Blanco, if you've never seen anything about her before. It is totally full of recycled footage that you'll have seen dozens of times if you've watched similar documentaries at all. On the flip side, the original one is an excellent documentary.

Crackhead it really isn't anything like that bad. The second one is obviously going to get watched after you see the first one, which is really good. The second is not as good, still decent.

I've got loads of films for the weekend now :)
