Man Dies in Police Raid on Wrong House

“We did the best surveillance we could do, and a mistake was made,” Lebanon Police Chief Billy Weeks said.

Why does the best surveillance not include seeing who actually comes in/out of the house? one day of watching could have told them that ehh, maybe these old ass people aren't hardened criminals. -.-

The good news is that there's a way to avoid this happening to you: get rich and move to a nice neighborhood in the suburbs.

Not rich? Well then please die immediately, this is America FFS.

Why fucking chance breaking into the wrong house or going in to a place where armed drug dealers might be? Get a warrant to search the place, double and triple the check the address, and when the residents happen to be going to work or to the store, or happen to be out and about, detain them outside, then search the premises.

SLC police apologize for drug raid at wrong home

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank has issued an apology after narcotics detectives raided the wrong home and pointed a gun at its 76-year-old female occupant.

Burbank says the woman was not injured when the search warrant was executed Wednesday night, but one officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Officers used a battering ram to knock down the door and execute a "no-knock" search warrant.

Burbank says his department has protocols in place to prevent such mistakes, but officers did not follow protocol. He declined to elaborate.

The chief says he met with family members, apologized and assured them the police department would repair all damage to the home.

A family spokesman says the woman was "traumatized" by the incident.

Is that even the same raid? theres no mention of the man SHOT TO DEATH in his own home, just that some elderly woman had a gun pointed at her.

Me thinks there two different raids. Or the reporter who wrote that seriously under exploited the shock value that death brings in the media.

Edit- Yeah, Salt lake city and nashville, two different incidents of police incompetence.

yeah, i wonder how the Nashville PD is going to apologize for that one.

I hope its awkward and uncomfortable, in court, when they're getting their asses sued.

yep 2 different raids, I just threw it in here, i was looking for the same one, as someone mentioned merge, but it ended up here. I did do a search after ho-chi-minh mentioned merge, but a search for salt lake city raid came up with nothing so i merged it into here myself by deleting the thread i made of this and shoved in here. Sorry for any confusion.

Oh well. 8(
