Day of the Jackal got put on Instant the day you posted this, heh. That was one hell of a tersely directed no dicking around cat and mouse thriller -- a good example for film students or aspiring screen writers looking for a lot of payback for the time they put into study I'd think (not that it's dry or academic). You want to be more sober than I was going into it, that's for sure. I don't think I could've even approached figuring out the question posed at the end about the twist had I tried. I'd have to have had it in mind going into it to even hope, but it's no matter since it struck me as having a lot of replay value.

Two reasons to keep Netflix for just a little while longer:

Snow On Tha Bluff - It is a "documentary" of sorts following the life of an ATL stick-up man/dope dealer Curtis Snow. He acquires a camera and documents what seems to be a mix of some real hood shit and maybe a few staged scenes (robbing dealers, smoking/drinking/doing dope, shootings, etc). Michael K Williams (Omar from the Wire) did some of the production.

Enter the Void - A real mindfuck of a movie. A white drug dealer in Japan gets shot while on DMT, and he tries to reincarnate as the movie mixes his crazy past/present/future existence. About 1/3 of the movie is something between soft and hardcore porn. There are some really visually stunning scenes of Tokyo, and one very* disturbing scene involving abortion. A lot of it is psychedelic filler, but the movie is cool as fuck.

I don't use Netflix to find specific movies (sometimes I do, I guess), I mostly use it to find movies that I've never heard of before which I thought was kinda the point.
 
^That's how I use the Instant service -- that and for some full TV seasons (not a big TV person so I don't mind waiting for a long time). I've found the DVD service to be sort of disappointing for some esoteric stuff. I wish they would dare to carry region 2 stuff, for instance. I don't know if the others above were talking about the instant service or the mail service, but if it was instant what else remotely comparable is there for the price for movies? I've previously posted about greencine in regard to an alternative mail service that has more obscure titles available (as well as downloadable versions of some movies, requestability, and porn last I checked) -- but it's slow to deliver unless you live in San Francisco.

Decent to good instant titles in my last 4 months of history (some probably double posted here by me and others -- hopefully all still available):

“Point Blank” (I fell asleep halfway through but it wasn’t the movie’s fault . I’m pretty sure it was good … gotta finish it)

i watched all of season 1 of Teen Wolf on netflix a couple of days ago. don't even care, that show is boss. currently watching Merlin. production value is a bit shit, but i'm not watching it for crappy CGI dragons, watching it for all the hotties. i guess that goes for both shows because i'm that shallow.
 
"Time Bandits" (damn I appreciate this a lot more not being 10 years old -- Monty Python for kids, awesome and in no way condescending to the little brats; John Cleese has this brilliantly obvious comic role as Robin Hood that had me dying)
"Super 8" (felt very "E.T." "Goonies" -- but harder edged with a lot more cussing and action)
"Exiled" (Hong Kong gangster gun ballad; it's characters are very "honor bound" in a sort of sentimental way but at the same time it's got this pretty weird plot progression with great camera direction/visual story telling and smart minimalist dialogue so it keeps things interesting)

There's another Hong Kong flick called "Fallen Angels" on Instant that looks promising, but I've yet to check it out. I have a platonic crush sort of relationship with old Jackie Chan stuff so "Project A 2" is another on there I'm gonna have to watch.

I've been getting in The Tudors lately, best watched in spurts of a few episodes at a time IMO. Also, I'm not gay but Jonathon Rhys-Meyers can exude his animal magnetism all over my face any day.
 
Låt den rätte komma in ("Let the Right One In" - Swedish) is on Netflix right now. It's really good... not your 'typical' vampire movie. This is coming from someone who doesn't like vampire movies. :)
 
Anybody else notice how much NetFlix's movie synopses seem to be written by a drunk intern?
In two halves (-ish) over the past two nights I've watched BASEketball through my girlfriend's Wii. The Wii synopsis reads:
When two slackers' made-up sport, BASEketball, becomes a national craze, they hope to cash in on the basketball/baseball hybrid's popularity.

Whereas on my laptop the Net Flix synopsis reads:
This loopy spoof profiles two slackers whose made-up sport, BASEketball, becomes a national craze. Hoping to cash in on the game's popularity, a promoter organizes a pro league. But greedy team owners soon corrupt the sport.

Having just finished watching BASEketball, high, drunk, and on MXE, I can nevertheless state with certainty that both of these inexplicably different summations fail to describe the basic plot of the movie. The first says "they hope to cash in," when it is only Matt Stone's character rather than both his and Trey Parker's character that is attempting to "cash in" in the plot of the movie. And in the 2nd synopsis "greedy team owners" doesn't remotely capture the true narrative roles of either Jenny McCarthy's or Robert Vaughn's characters.

Compare this with IMDB's perfectly acceptable summary:
Two childhood friends are pro athletes of a national sport called BASEketball, a hybrid of baseball and basketball, and must deal with a greedy businessman scheming against their team.

This isn't the first time I've noticed this, but it is the first time I've been motivated enough by drugs to point it out on the internet.
 
check out . Oldboy and Im a cyborg, but thats okay. Oldboy is an awesome revenge film, and im a cyborg is about a girl who thinks she is a cyborg takes place in a korean mental hospital. its really funny and unique. Both are korean and same director.
