So there are plenty of accounts of people experiencing prolonged after effects both perceptually and sometimes emotionally / psychologically with psychedelics of the 5HT-2 agonist variety. Not to say this is common per se but that it is well known. I assume many of these experiences are due to overwhelming and unwanted spiritual experiences brought on by psychedelics, but dissociative drugs and cannabanoids at the right dosages can also produce outrageous and disturbing changes in consciousness.
Sometimes the changes are even more radical and confusing than those brought on by psychedelics. But I never hear of accounts where someone had a disturbing k hole experience that caused lasting mental problems for weeks or months. I have heard of lasting perceptual changes from very extensive dissociative abuse but that's a different issue. Same with cannabanoids, people get extremely confused and paranoid on too high doses of cannabanoids sometimes but you never heard of these experiences causing significant after effects.
Why is this the case? My only theory is that dissociatives and cannabanoids have much stronger amnesia inducing effects than psychedelics in general, so maybe its more difficult to get a lasting imprint of the experience? What are your thoughts?
