But it's a MUCH lower chance than having sex with random people who you don't know
Especially if you both get tested beforehand

It's POSSIBLE to catch an STD from anyone ... but it's much less risky in some situations.
Well yes you're right, but I wouldn't have unprotected sex with ANYONE.
Maybe I am just cold and untrusting lol.

Also pokepoke, you highlight my point about regular check ups, Chlamydia is another one that's not a big deal unless it goes untreated and leads to other complications. If you're getting regular check ups, it will be picked up in a test, you take a pill, fixed, nothing to pass on to your next lover.

Let's just be realistic here, we say never if we have no condom and haven't seen the fine ass lady yet, but then you do and you have no condom
... fuck it, balls deep =]

^ don't forget it is still possible to catch an STD from someone whom you trust.

As long as you are getting regular sexual health check ups (which in my opinion should be EVERYONE who is sexually active)
Syphilis isn't really anything to worry about, it is cured with one injection of penicillin. It's only if it goes untreated that it becomes a big deal.

Just saying, still definitely back practising safe sex of course, condoms/dental dams etc.

Absolutley agree with the regular health checks and also follow up tests, however not everyone is going to bother with them or the follow ups.

In terms of it not being anything to worry about- I strongly disagree based on known facts. Statistics may be low but blasé attitudes and ignorance are exactly what causes them to rise(and they are rising).

*Syphilis is termed the “great imitator”, as symptoms are often non-specific or mimic other infectious or immune mediated conditions, e.g, the rash seen in secondary syphilis may resemble pityriasis rosea. Approximately 50% of people with syphilis are asymptomatic.

*Many people infected with syphilis do not have any symptoms for years, yet remain at risk for late complications if they are not treated. Although transmission occurs from persons with sores who are in the primary or secondary stage, many of these sores are unrecognized. Thus, transmission may occur from persons who are unaware of their infection.

*condoms do not provide complete protection from all STDs. Sores and lesions of other STDs on infected men and women may be present in areas not covered by the condom, resulting in transmission of infection to another person

If I ruled the world everyone would be able to fuck whomever they wanted all the time but reality is reality. There is no point in watering shit down for those who do give a shit about their health/ that of others.

Well I have a policy of going for regular sexual check ups, (which is what I recommend), not some slack sort of 'oh if I get a rash or something THEN I will go get a check up' because I know a lot of STIs can present asymptomatically and can develop serious complications if left untreated while early detection for most STIs have a very simple cure like I alread said, with syphillis it's just one shot of penicillin, so in the rare event of a condom/barrier failure if you manage to contract something it doesn't have to become a huge issue it can just be cured immediately. The sexual health clinics are free here, if they're free where y'all are I don't see any excuse for not taking advantage of them (obviously not INSTEAD of using protection). get a full examination and bloods/swabs once every 3 months. I go once every month even though I have always been meticulously careful, "just in case". If you are having relations where you may have dropped you guard on the protection a little due to being less concerned when its someone you know/trust or whatever reason, then I suggest also going as regularly as once a month.

Regular check ups MEANS NOT waiting for symptoms before seeing a dr. in order to PREVENT an undetected illness developing serious complications.
You must have just misunderstood me there, hope I was clearer this time.

A womean I talked to at an aids conference told me her story of how she contracted the disease. She got married to her husband that shes still with now, her husband was a soldier and while he was deployed had contracted aids from some womean overseas...well he brought it back home with him and gave it to her. Hes the only man she ever slept with she contracted aids as a virgin....thats fucked up. The point is dont think that only people who sleep with 100's of people can get aids all it takes is sleeping with one person that has it.

Well, I have no sensitivity on my underside, and latex condoms tend to leave me with a killer rash that prevents me from deriving any pleasure from the experience of having sex with a condom, so yes, yes I would, but only because I would rather not have sex than have a penis rash. I would rather be able to wear condoms, and if I hadn't gotten used to coping with not being able to wear them since I've been 16, my answer may be different. As it is, I just get used to not wearing them and getting tested for STD's after any obviously risky sexual encounter (as in I'm not getting tested if I'm having sex in a monogamous relationship on the off chance she's fucking other people), with a followup HIV test 3 months later.

^you can get non latex condoms by the by

I brought up more than one issue with condoms in my post...

The no sensitivity underneath aspect is present without condoms, and apparently condoms seem to depend on the sensitivity in that area. Long story...

This is is a difficult one. Surely in this day an age we have all been surrounded with information and education regarding safe sex/stds etc.. We are equiped with this knowledge, so when a situation arrises like this one, of course we would make the right decision..

Well, for me getting out of a relationship of 17 yrs, which bought me a beautiful daughter in this world, my world is now a different one. I can come and go as I please, don't answer to anyone and seem to be doing more shards now than ever before..

I digress.. I am feeling less repressed than previous- and chatting to my flatemate- he believes as we get older, we get more complaceant. (he said he wore condoms all the time when younger)- but figures by now he may not.

I have since done the internet dating thing (pyscho central) and yes.. I have had unprotected sex with 2 women.. I was'nt even thinking risk at the time.. & I work in the health sector..

Looking back its possibile these 2 could only pass on a psychological disease rather than a sexual one lol, but I did get tested later..
I'm not sure why I did it, maybe acting out against the ex in some way as a revenge thing or some lame shit.. But now I've got it out of my system (so to speak)- I would'nt go down that road again.

Voted yes, turned 18 - on da 'caine clubbin and chattin some bird and within an hour I took her into the toilets (paid the black guy who watches em) and shags her then again at hers - She was nice looknin, i mean h

I've had sex with many many girls unprotected. Every single one to be exact.

My friends joked and would tell girls my name is DDB. Of course they always asked what it stood for - "Dirty Dick Bandit"

I love it, I wouldn't have sex any other way, but I obviously don't recommend it. I've been lucky with STD's, but I know MANY that have not been.

I've had sex many times unprotected, I think the apparent prevalence of STDs is overestimated. I'm still clean after having sex with a dozen different girls.

What about pregnancies? I have friends who now have kids or who got married very young because of having unprotected sex with random women, FB/FWB, or even girlfriends.

Fortunately (somewhat) I have none. Again I've been pretty lucky since most of this was going on when I was 16-21. I have a steady girlfriend I've been with for 5-1/2 years and after the first 2 years with her I stopped being so reckless. I guess kinda grew up a bit. She actually did get pregnant the first time we had sex (before we were together), then we got together, and she told me she was late.

I even attempted to postpone going into the marines since she said she was pregnant and they told me I was deploying or they would un-enlist me (for lack of better words) - I told them to un-enlist me since I was going to go to Iraq and be killed and have my child grow up without a father. We lost the kid sadly.

Wow, dude... I don't even know what to say, but hey, your choice, right? Also, how did you know you'd die if you went there?

Isnt it? Most people who have AIDS got it from same-sex contact with a man, sharing needles or they were born with AIDS already.

lol

Even if you just met her I mean wouldnt you at least ask if she had anything?
