^ Haha, my dad used to have one of them back in the day. Oddly enough it was a company car as well. Fuck knows why they let him get a Cosworth as a company motor.
Yeah man, shame really. The new FT-86 or whatever it's called now was supposed to bring the sportiness back to Toyota... doesn't really tickle my fancy though. Had an older shape GT-Four before that too, not as quick by a long shot but for some reason I liked it more.
As we have all the car experts dropping in here, I'm looking for views on my next car. I currently drive a Diesel Discovery 2 Auto, I was doing the bulk of my 50 mile round trip commute on my scooter but that's off the cards for the foreseeable future die to an argument with the road.
So I need something more economical, it has to be a decent size and automatic, I really like to stick with 4X4 but I may have to live without it in the name of fuel efficiency.
The fastest car I've driven was a Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4. In the mid-80s at work, if we had to go out for the day we could use a manager's company car. I usually ended up with a diesel Orion that drove like a tank but I did get my hands on the Cosworth once. I did 110mph on the M1 then I got scared.

BMW diesels have pretty unbeatable power to fuel economy ratios. A post 08 318d touring has a book figure of 62mpg and will do 0-60 in 9.1s, you would probably struggle to find anything else that matches that.

I used to have this a few years ago...
What's your budget?
Those seats are naughty :D
I regularly drive a E46 coupe (my gfs, not mine unfortunately) it is a pretty awesome car in every way. mpg drops to near single figures if you are fond of the loud pedal!
I'd probably go to £20K if I needed to, it's the main family car and I have a fairly long commute as well as a bit of business mileage to cover. I can't be messing around with unreliable, aged motors these days it's often a false economy and way to hassle.
The 3 Series is probably to small as I like a bigger car these days, the 530D looks more my kinda ride, probably have to get some string back gloves and a pipe though....and call in sick when in snows
