Vivid nightmares. Etizolam?

I find the anti-histamine "Piraton" the best aid for sleep SHM, benzo's tend to send me a little wappy. Tried etiz a few times but not very impressed with it - I think you get a lower quality sleep than Piriton.

I use valium every 2 days and quite often on the day that I don't take any I will have nightmares.
I always seem to dream about finding lots of stabbed up dead people floating in water.
No idea what they mean but they certainly are not very pleasant dreams to have.

The Japanese are seriously uptight, just look at their suicide rate;-

I quite like green tea as it goes, I find it subtly relaxing and it gives a feeling of cleansing which may be placebo but I'll take what ever I can:)

They've been at it since the Samurais though haven't they? It's like that episode of American Dad where stan feels shame for the first time and decides to just top himself instead of get over it.

I used to get pretty bad sleep paraysis and night terrors after doing too many serotonergics. Meph binging was the worst, never caned too much MDMA though so never had a problem. They aren't too bad nowadays but still do get a bit of sleep paralysis and vivid dreams that can be quite scary (brain zaps too, they've also improved). It always happens a day or two after doing the drugs too, and would last one or two nights which matches with the 5-HT depletion theory. I never really had any depression during this time, just a heightened sense of emotion (I don't buy the serotonin theory of depression).

I hear benzo withdrawal can have similarities to 5-HT depletion/SSRI withdrawal too, and Eti is supposed to have AD type effects similar to Alprazolam, which could be serotonin related. I wouldn't be surprised if it were mostly related to the MDMA, with the Eti on previous nights playing a minor role. And of course the depletion is highly variable and can be affected by setting, diet etc. I HIGHLY recommend the Tryptophan from that well bulk supplier of sports nutrition and supplements (not sure if this source is allowed?). I've found nowhere else in the UK that sells decent Tryptophan at a good price, and 5-HTP just make me feel nauseous and isn't sedating in the slightest IME. Phenibut can be good occaisionally too.

Edit: I also recommend Magnesium. I take it every night with zinc and Vit B6. This was originally for my working out, but I found it quite sedating and really seemed to improve sleep quality. Theanine has already been mentioned, that is also good. Can cause insomnia though.

Alprazolam doesn't work as an AD, just an excellent benzo, which makes you feel good. I'm quite sure clonazepam has effects on serotonin, which is why a large dose can give you a paradoxical panic attack. Xanax just hits your GABA receptors hard, and that feels good.

I've not tried etiz, but I'll get round to it. Sounds pretty odd. Diazepam doesn't seem to give me nightmares.

Nightmares when not taking drugs...wake up call?

I fucking love nightmares though kids, makes me value living. Sleep paralysis is the nuts

It makes sense now that story about your mate scamming the bookies for years was a dream.

I rarely remember dreams but when taking benzos I do.

I never said he scammed one bookies for years. Get over it. I could tell you a lot of stories that you wouldn't believe pal, but it depends which side of the tracks you are from I guess

All I drew attention to, and rather humorously we thought here at backroll hq, was the apparent link between nightmares and drug taking. I also erroneously pointed out that nightmares are in fact great

Yeah so for the second time now after a several day stimulant/psychedelic binge, tempered with etizolam, had insomnia, nightmares and sleep paralysis for the first night that I didn't take any.

I think the scariest thing about it is that this time I just feel like it comes with the territory.

Did someone order a condescending comment?

The title of the thread did in my opinion yeah

That's because you're a trolling little wanker who has got annoyed he's been called out for talking shit and has decided to rake through posts trying to find something to have a revenge-tastic orgasm over.

What's wrong with someone asking about drug side-effects? It's the sort of thing we are here for. I'll let SHM fight his own battles, anyway.

I'm not fighting him. He's from the 'wrong' side of the tracks. Or so he keeps trying to impress on us a little too fervently.

First impressions aren't the best, I agree.

Backroll, why don't you contribute something useful, instead of just being a bit of a cunt?

Don't know how relevant this is to the topic but you guys seem to be on the subject of sleep, dreams and all that.

Daily bud user for years and was smokin really heavy since my exams finished in may and now im taking break as of this week (as i have done in the past as i have felt it has been needed for whatever time or reason nessesary)....This time though i went from really heavy to nothin. Been tryin to get to sleep now from about midnight for 7 hours with no luck and it was the same with the last few nights but when i finally do get to sleep I have wicked dreams n im liking them again, even though some have nightmareish quality i like the vividness all the same and non are too bad but for me i jus love dreamin!

Anythin i can take that will help with sleep/sleeping pattern while im not blazin but will keep the dreams? or any tips?

Also pretty new to BL but have been lurkin for some time and jus wanted to say hi in general too all you lot

Hi supersilvahaze, welcome to Bluelight:)

Cannabis is known to suppress REM sleep and most users report a similar effect to the one you describe when they stop using after long periods.

I smoked everyday for more than 15 years and barely remembered a single dream in that period but they all came flooding back when I stopped, the insomnia should pass in time.

I would be very careful not to try and replace the weed with anything else, it would be all to easy to slip into drinking daily or sedating yourself by other means. Keeping a clear head should sustain dreaming if you really need something to help you sleep I have found Valerian root tablets have a subtle effect, this can be found in most on the shelf sleeping aids in you local supermarket, if they don;t work and you need a bit more assistance Diphenhydramine, which is a sedating antihistamine and the active ingredient in over the counter Nytol may help but stick to the prescribed dosage to avoid excessive grogginess.

Cheers :D

Yea whilst smokin I rarely remember dreams but back when my use wasn't so heavy or when I smoked less for a period i noticed they were really cool n vivid dreams most of the time, got into lucid dreamin for a little while, and I think the dreams to me are sort of like the silver lining on the cloud which can hit when tryin to stop or to cut down sometimes.

Your right about not replacing the bud with things like drink though as in the past I've defo noticed an increase in beers before bed when not smoking and its not something I'd want to become a pattern.

Cheers for the advice and I think I'll be off to the supermarkets today to give these a try...do they ever interfere with dreams at all do you know? not that it will put me off giving them a go while i get a normal sleeping pattern back as I need a good few nights sleep.

Jus out of interest if you wish to share, hav you knocked smokin on the head now for good and have your dreams stayed back as much as they came flooding back (as i have really noticed the difference and wondered if these dreams would sort of be here to stay if you get what i mean)
