).Getting in the festival was a nightmare in the first place, queue took forever because they seemed to be searching everyone & using one sniffer dog to try & check every single person. By the time we got to the front the dog was still there but they appeared to have totally gave up searching anyone. I accidentally smacked the dog in the head with my knee, still feel a bit bad about that, it was a genuine accident though, the wee cunt shouldn't have been sniffing at me lol.
I could continue for ages but I'll leave it the now. Only other thing to add just now is that the police are claiming there was no problem at all with overcrowding & the issue was due to people trying to get in the tents to shelter from the rain. This is a total lie. 1 - IT WASN'T RAINING! 2 - Folk were obviously trying to get in the tents as that was the only way to hear the music that we'd paid £100 for, who the fuck goes to a festival just to hang about next to a burger van? Rumours that the police won't lay any sort of blame on the venue as it's an Olympic site.
One positive thing - The crowd were incredibly calm. We were next to the main tent when they shut it down & thought there was going to be a full scale riot, then they shut down the full festival we thought it was definitely going to kick off but I didn't see one bit of bother, just a lot of sad/confused faces & a team of cunts banging on the metal containers (Knock - was that you? Haha).
Just got home. Fuck Bloc.
Did anyone make it to the Plex party? They ended up only having 500 capacity. Luckily we found out that the queue was massive well before reaching Peckham. Switched up trains & went to Farringdon for Fabric, which was decent but not exactly what I was wanting out of the weekend - Losing a bag of pills on the way in didn't help, my mates had spare ones tho so it wasn't a total disaster.
That fucking attempt at a festival was a total disaster right enough. Fucking useless cunts. I've never seen anything so badly managed. My theory being that they sold out the capacity of the full area, not taking into account the fact that all the music was being played either in fully enclosed tents or inside the boat & that half of the area had nothing in it other than a bar so everyone was crammed into the half that had music on - only to have to queue like fuck to try & hear some tunes. There was not a hope in hell of getting on the Stubnitz, the queue for the main tent was pretty horrendous as well. I was cutting about with a production staff wrist band on but that didn't help at all - the security had no clue about anything, apparently a lot of them had been hired only days before & had no previous experience. Can't blame them though, they were doing the best they could with what seemed like no guidance/management & a massive shortage of staff.

Cheers to Kappa & Sam for getting a hold of me with details of the Plex party - I already knew about it but it's the thought that counts lol.
(I'll probably add another rant as long as that one when I wake up after much needed snooze. I've only slept once since Thursday morning - on the Friday after Bloc fucked it)
Oh and... Fuck Bloc!!!!
Mattnotrik - What did you end up doing on Saturday? Fabric? (I saw him outside on Friday at the end looking more than a bit sparkled).
So sad![]()
I know it's not fair to judge, but the general feeling is that the whole operation was in the hands of people with hardly any experience in organising large-scale events.
I had the displeasure of working with some of the people involved, and they were a bunch of amatuers. Very visionary in their plans for the event, but when it came down to details like access and money, they really didn't have a clue. We steered clear of them and boy, are we glad we did!

I remember reading an article posted a few weeks prior to the event, will have to dig it up somewhere. It was titled so what exactly does the day in a life of a bloc team member do? The reply was something along the lines of "Oh well we go for a stroll along the river, have a bicker about money, go to the pub maybe, have a chat about music, then maybe another stroll, then maybe another argument about money, then probally back to the pub y'know nothing much really".

To be honest, although they are amateurs for failing, I am extremely surprised they got all the necessary licensing to throw such an event. Some friends of mine tried to throw a festival and got totally stalled up by threats of an unlimited fine if the noise became too loud for local residents 8( I've also heard that it's standard procedure for many people who throw festivals to go into administration directly after the festival to dick over every single person they can by not paying them. Many artists end up getting jipped a few times over the summer.
